I always follow the team no matter what. I will look at the box scores, follow individual players, keep up with transactions, etc. When they’re in it, I dedicate three hours of my time every night after I work a full time job. When they’re not in it, those three hours are simply too precious to watch AAAA bullpen games and Bobby Dalbec. I have other hobbies. To anybody who watches every play, God bless you. But this is entertainment for me, not a cult or religion.

My way of supporting this team? I’m a fan who moved from CT to Delaware when I was a teen (Boggs was my favorite as a kid), so I have to pay $140 or something crazy yearly just to watch these guys. I almost cancelled before the season started but decided against it. My way of officially being on board is making that financial purpose and I’m really glad I did. Last two seasons I didn’t watch any games for the last month except the last game one year as a way of saying goodbye to Eck. This team the past couple of years had a decent record around this time but fell apart later on. It really does feel like it’s going to be different this year. If I could get my full money’s worth wanting to actually watch games the whole time, I’ll consider that a win. Any playoff game victory is a cherry on top. I had no expectations for this team so I am pleasantly surprised. Last night was awesome and I haven’t watched that at Fenway in a long time.

I'm loving the ride. I think the biggest weakness is the one we thought it would be: starting pitching. Every one of the starting pitchers has a June ERA way above the April ERA. It hasn't been so obvious because the offense has increased to make wins anyway. But with most of our pitchers about to exceed their season innings records, I fear they'll start getting really gassed. I expect if the winning is to continue, reinforcements are needed.

It'll be interesting to see what the rotation ends up looking like by the end of the year honestly. I think for the most part the rotation has been fine I think we all knew they were never going to be the best in baseball, but above average was the goal and that is where they are at right now. Going into the second half they are absolutely going to need someone though as you're right everyone even Houck is going to be blowing past his innings high by early August

    - They are a lot of fun to watch, I love the athleticism. Stealing bases, making incredible defensive plays in the outfield. I hope the front office actually gets them some help at the trade deadline this season.
    - Whether or not they make the playoffs this year, I think the future is bright for the Red Sox. They have a really nice nucleus of young players.
    - Hopefully they bring Alex Cora back. I think he has done a really good job so far this season.

Great video 👍🏻. It’s amazing to me that there are still many people (online at least) scoffing at this team. They are fun as hell to watch and they play their asses off. And they’re a young team that has now acquired hard earned confidence. That makes them a dangerous team.
Re Vaughan Grissom - honestly, they need to get him a whole lot of reps in the minors before they even consider putting him back in the lineup. I think he will ultimately be a very good player but he had no Spring Training, got sick and lost a lot of weight, and was then rushed into the Majors. It resulted into him being a virtual automatic out and losing a lot of confidence. Hamilton and Valdez have been a great addition to the team and they deserve to remain up.
Because of the youth & athleticism, this team is the most fun Red Sox team to watch since the 2018 team.

These guys have really come together and have been so much fun to watch! Really hoping they make some kind of splash at the deadline. Wanted to get your opinion on a trade possibility that will likely never happen, but I think would make some sense. Send Dom, Masa, and maybe a prospect or two to the Jays for Vladdy... he would provide some more right handed power thats been a big focus for this season, gives you someone you can platoon with Casas as he gets back on his feet and a full time DH after, and then someone that you can rotate in for Casas or even Raffy (big stretch) to give them days at DH or off entirely. Totally wild, or just crazy enough? I really just want to see Raffy and Vladdy scaring teams back to back in the lineup.

Great game last night.. we did get some help by the ump in the end with that “balk”. But if we keep trucking we might make it
I’ll still keep saying our starting pitching is not where it needs to be .. apart from Tanner, we keep playing catch up with horrible starting pitching. Nick and Crawford need to do better. We need and rely on them.

    • @redseatradio

In all fairness by rule definition that was a balk, it was the right call. Nick hasn't been great, Kutter has had his moments, but he has also had two quality starts (6 innings 3 or fewer runs) in his last 2 games. He gives the sox close to that every time out The sox will be in good shape.

Implied that it hurt the team and wasted time. But guys like him have to polish their game at all levels, making adjustments as they go. These 28 and under players are a major strength of the team now, along with improvement of the pitching and getting more out of guys who were already here for a year or two. So far, so good. A gamble? Somewhat. But pretty good for a bridge year.

They're doing it in spite of ownership. Maybe Henry's callous remarks lit a fire. Guys coming back soon is a good thing and who knows what could happen if they get in via the second or third wild card. Even if they win 85 to 88 games this year, it's a lot better than was predicted for them, so the future looks bright IF ownership lets Breslow add a few pieces ay the trade deadline and during the offseason. I'm hoping that Henry won't say look what we did with a lower payroll and just go with all the young guys. Let Breslow add a left-handed ace or number 2 pitcher and for more than a year or two and some depth pieces and not just waiver wire pickups and they could make some noise the next few years. I don't have confidence that Henry will do that, but maybe Theo can convince him. All in all though, they do look a lot better than advertised since he came out with his remarks. Keep it up guys.

The potential is certainly there. I think their playing better defensively has a lot to do with their recent good run, still committing more errors than they should (although recent games have been much better) but also some great defensive plays, so much better than the horror show of earlier in the season.

The Sox are fun to watch. I still think they are second tier. The Yankees, Orioles, and Cleveland all have run differentials greater than 100.
I do think the Sox have a good chance of being at the top of the next tier. Minnesota and Kansas City are teams the Sox can and should beat. Even Seattle is not out of reach record wise. I would note however that Houston and to a lesser extent Texas are showing signs of life, and with a half season to go they will likely be back in the wildcard mix.

I'm going to play my "seniority card," and point out the similarities between this years' Sox and the 1967 Impossible Dream team.... Where the part of Jim Lonborg is played by Tanner Houk, and Jarren Duran is a poor-man's version of Carl Yastrzemski. The '67 Sox were very flawed and were very short on pitching. They played the first 75 games at or around .500, but won 10 straight around the All Star break to get into contention. But the one big difference between 1967 and 2024, is that in '67 there were NO dominant teams in the AL, and the Sox ended up as first among equals. (Sorry for the Old Bastard Basebll rant.)

I respectfully disagree in that I believe Minnesota (1965 AL Champs) and Detroit (1968 World Series Champs) were both dominant ball clubs in 1967 who "on paper" should have prevented the Red Sox from winning the pennant ... Yastremski and Lonborg had incredible career seasons that anchored and somehow willed the "Cardiac Kid" Red Sox into the World Series past these two experienced and veteran accomplished teams ...
Minnesota had a solid club in 1967 with three future HOF's in their batting order (Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva and Rod Carew who was in his rookie season) along with Bob Allison, Cesar Tovar and Ted Uhlaender also putting up some decent offensive numbers ... They also had a strong starting pitching staff with Dean Chance winning 20 games with a 2.73 ERA and Jim Kaat, Jim Merritt and Dave Boswell winning more than 13 each with a 3.27 or better ERA ... Their bullpen also was quite capable with Ron Kline, Jim Perry and Al Worthington each pitching 71 or more innings and individually winning 7 or more games ...
The 1967 Detroit Tigers were also a very talented ball club with future HOF Al Kaline leading the way with a .308 AVE, 25 HRs and a .952 OPS ... Their batting order also included other highly productive run producers in Norm Cash, Bill Freehan, Willie Horton, Dick McAuliffe and Jim Northrup who all had 60 or more RBI's ... The Tigers starting pitching was led by Earl Wilson who won 22 games along with Denny McLain, Joe Sparma and Mickey Lolich all pitching over 200 innings while also individually winning 14 or more games ... Their bullpen was equally solid with Hank Aguirre, Pat Dobson, Mike Marshall, Dave Wickersham, and Fred Gladding all having an ERA of 2.92 or less ...

The team is taking advantage of subpar teams, but that's what good teams do. Masa and Abreu are not in the zone, but that will change. I've been in on the team since the start of baseball in March. Remember I said back then that if they came out of April with a winning record, they were a good team. Cases is getting closer as well. My only concern at this point is that they might trade Kenley Jansen. He has 14 saves and a 90% success rate. Let's hope that doesn't happen. With strong pitching, this team is built for the playoffs

Winning really fixes alot. I’m a patient fan. It makes me sick when a player is given too much money and they sour in the sun. The kids take awhile. And I know that. Mayer and Teel might need more time. Or maybe you bring them up for a cup of coffee and let them experience things? I think Cora is a good manager. I hope he’s on board with things. I smarted quite a bit when Mookie left town. But look at the Celtics. They have to pay big dollars, but when you have youth you have to pay up. Contract talk needs to be done outside the press. Better to move early than wait too long. Don’t want to lose this kid Duran.

I’m in lockstep with you. This team feels a lot deeper than years past. Bullpen is strong. Bottom of the lineup has been a catalyst for the offense. Shoutout to Campbell last night for setting up the biggest win of the season. If they get to 10 games over .500 by the deadline they have to buy. I’m not saying get crochet or Robert or someone like that but give the fans something to sink their teeth into and show the team you’re committed to winning. Most of the positions are locked up once the big 3 debut so start dealing from your 40 man crunch coming this offseason and get a RHH platoon bat and another starter and you should be able to make some noise

One way to eradicate some mistakes made this last offseason could be a move in a lateral move for a starting pitcher. Would Detroit take Lucas Giolito,Vaughn Grissom,Cooper Criswell and a lower prospect for Jack Flaherty if we pay the remaining part of Giolitos 2024 salary plus 65% of his team option for next year? We have the $$. And we are so deep that Grissom truly won't be missed. Hamilton,Romy Gonzalez, Valdez,Yorke,Chase meidroth,Kristian Campbell, cutter coffey and yoeilin cespedes should be plenty enough for us to forget about Grissom.

The problem with trying to land Flaherty as a rental is that there will be mulitple bidders, including the Baltimore Orioles who should be willing to offer #27 prospect Coby Mayo, who is blocked at the MLB level byJordan Westburg. So why would the Tigers go for your deal of getting 5 nickels for a quarter? The Tigers will hold out for Kyle Teel, who is blocked at the mlb level by Connor Wong. Trying to fill a team's pitching needs at the trade deadline is very expensive. Kind of like going to Cumberland Farms on Thanksgiving morning to buy your groceries for dinner that day. It costs twice as much and the quality is not as good.

    • @atgn70

@@atgn70 Are you too young to remember Bagwell for Larry Anderson? Flaherty is worth all that to the Orioles, who haven't been to a WS since 1983 and have a much more talented team than the Red Sox. To the O's, Flaherty is the last missing piece. If the Red Sox got him in a trade, they'd still be a longshot contender to make the WS

    • @atgn70

@jackm4457 I lost my mind the day we gave up Bagwell for andersen instead of something else. .Maybe I'm questioning Flahertys value considering he wouldn't be the only valuable guy out there. • @jackm4457
      @jackm4457 2 месяца назад +1

@@atgn70 What other rentals are out there that would be clearly preferable to Flaherty? (and that is not a rhetorical question... I'm not sure.) I just feel that making 'impactful" trades at the deadline means the contending team is always almost going to get fleeced. Larry Anderson DID help the Sox win the AL East in 1990... they just went on to get swept by a very strong A's team in the ALCS. Flaherty could well help the Sox win a WC sport, but I don't think he'd have much impact in getting the Sox even past the ALDS. But different risk/reward scenario for Baltimore. JMO, of oourse.
