Great video Zach 👍 I'm in the middle of onboarding a client right now. In addition to what you said I also like to request the clients most recent tax return so I can match it in their quickbooks as well as any loan / purchase agreements so I can amortize the loan payments.
Great suggestion!
Thank you for the video, that is helpful. Do you charge $2-$3 per transaction for big cleanup projects too? For example, if a client has 3,000 transactions for 2023 to do bookkeeping for.
Yes, exactly
Thank you!
Great video
This is the information I needed to hear
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Zach. Love your videos. If you start with social media marketing with DM, FB groups, reaching out to current business owners, is it better to do with the goal of developing niche clients or just be a generalist to start? Meaning if your previous work experience is in healthcare or finance, it may be easier to attract and onboard new clients when you can say you understand their industry? Or be a generalist and think in terms of number of DMs, outbound calls and emails to potential clients? Thanks in advance and keep those YT videos coming.
I started as a generalist, and I still am
Just curious - why don’t you require autopay for your clients via credit card or ACH?
I do now!! 🙂
@@BookkeepingExpert awesome! I just started my bookkeeping business and this is how I have it set up for my first 3 clients so far. Great content!
Do you use pandadoc because its integrated with QuickBooks?
No, I don’t integrate anything with QuickBooks
HI Zach! Great video. Do you have a previous video showing your tracker spreadsheets? I would love to see how you have them set up to help you stay organized and efficient.
I'm not sure, but probably some where! I keep it pretty simple, I just track which clients I work on which days
Again, this video provides valuable guidance for those who are starting their own accounting firms!
I’m happy to help!
Some of these systems are directly applicable to a small law firm. Good stuff Zach!
Thanks!
What would you charge for setting them up in QBO with a new subscription?
Would you suggest going back to the beginning of the year so they will have full reports for the year?
I just ask my clients, when do you want me to start? Then I charge the full monthly fee for each month
What legal info do you put in your agreement? And what about using your website for most of your onboarding and payments?
My agreement has most of the regular legal jargon
How do you handle getting the adjusting entries for the Adjusted Trial Balance, do you contact the CPA
Very few adjustments with almost all of my clients. These are very small, cash basis companies
In that first year, if you would have charged $3, would you have match your Amazon income?
Probably!
How do you charge upfront if you charge per transaction and wouldn't know how many transactions will occur in the new month?
I charge a fixed monthly rate based on their average monthly transactions
Not sure if you’ve ever talked about this before but you don’t offer payroll services correct? If not, how do you account for that with doing their bookkeeping assuming they have employees?
I don't do payroll. I just record payroll wages and payroll taxes on the P&L. I don't track payroll liabilities or accruals
Hi Zach, how long on average does it take for the client to get from the consultation to paying that first invoice? Thanks!
2 days if they are serious about signing up
Great video
Thanks!
