"Let Zion in Her Beauty Rise" by Marshall McDonald

I'll tell you a real gut punch that happened to me as a little kid. I was 5 years old when my folks divorced. I lived in a small town that was predominantly Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was treated really badly, like I had a bad disease. No one wanted a thing to do with me that was 69 years ago, and that happened often in those days. A few years later, my father and stepmother became active in the church. When I was visiting them we always went to church. Going to their ward, I was treated a lot better. I liked going to their ward because they were so nice. That had a lot to do with me being an active adult with all that entails. We can be the gut punchers or the kind welcoming people who reach out. Please reach out with loving arms.
It is a sad thing that the lack of understanding as to the true nature of Christ renders folks incapable of treating others as He would.
I truly feel badly for the sad experience you underwent.
"Our kindness may be the most persuasive argument for that which we believe."

I did not grow up in Utah. I think kids are like this whether they are LDS or not.
Powerful example of what not to be!! Thx! ❤
Oh how I pray that I will be loving and kind to all.
