Beeston way to get rid of hiccoughs (hiccups) is to hold your breath and drink as much water as possible, til it feels like your lungs will explode..keep forcing it down and then stop and breath once you can't possibly do it any more. It expands your diaphragm, stretching it out, which in turn stops the spasm in there, that are the hiccoughs. Works 100% of the time without fail. Another friend swears by drink a cap full of vinegar...it shocks the diaphragm enough to stop the contractions/spasms...but it's not 100% effective like drinking while holding your breathe.
