I am glad to learn, and have you confirm my suspicions, that Creo had improved from previous versions with regard to (Grouped items) failing/supressing/deleting features within a group. I had previously typically employed grouping items at the end of a design. I was apprehensive of grouping "too early" in that when an item may have been affected that was inside a group that it would require unpatterning/ungrouping down to the individual feature in order to edit/suppress/delete the feature with impunity or cascading effect to other features related to the group or pattern of groups. That is a nice and notable improvement by PTC's elite programmers. My job is often considered EASY. The hard work is writing the code that makes my utilizing the CAD software simple and intuitive. We all use (cell) apps, but most cell users are clueless about how to design/create/market an idea like something as simple as an app - let alone Boolean algebra-based CAD subroutines.
Yes, I found Groups could be painful in earlier versions when you wanted to use Insert Mode or change the members. They are much more user friendly now.
Nice video. :) In this video, you insert the fasteners in the assembly with a udf. Is it possible to insert components with udf, and also reference some external references of the inserted component? Ex a surface that defines a surface of a stamping die
I don't believe you can do that. About the only way I can think of doing that is with an Assembly Level Feature although I've never tried making a UDF with components and features.
