The modes on the Centaur do not 'scale' up. It's really a simple concept on how the unit works. It knows what the score of the game is and it makes moves to either keep the score close or the player slightly ahead or in front by knowing what the score will be after each move. If you are in 'friendly' mode, it selects from the four moves it has available to keep the score close. You have to blunder to get behind in this mode, but it will select the forth best move and give you a chance to catch up. If you are playing in 'challenging' mode, it selects from the four moves it has available to keep the score closer or the player slightly behind. It's that simple! It just plays moves according to it's ability to keep the score of the game. A player rated 2000 will have just a good of game against friendly mode as a player ranked 1000. There is no 'scale up', or 'scale' down involved with this machines logic.
Hello, I could recommended the DGT Centuar if you don't want to play online with the unit, as it has no online capabilities. The Friendly Mode is probably too easy for you, and the Challengin Mode will really give you a game. Postion set up to study is also a great way to use to use the Centaur. However, the DGT Pegasus just came out you may want to look into that board, as it is basically the DGT Centaur with online features, and probably more ways to use it. I have one on order and I'll be showcasing it very soon! Cheers!

Ty for video let's see u play Challenge mode ? I've played challenge mode did fairly well but it out played me in end game I really do enjoy playing it tho wish it had option to use the board for playing on lichess But other then that next best thing to playing a human
Yes I have seen the the Square Off boards, and I would love to one day own one. I just don't have the space for it now. I think the Centaur plays at about 2800+ on Expert mode. There is a Friendly, Challenging, and Expert mode.

@@JamesTippins I've seen video where it beat play Magnus on high level so def rated atleast 2800 on Expert level
