I’m 60 years old I remember when trolling was aloud every thing was going to be fished out. People have to learn it’s not about filling your freezer it’s about going out having fun and teaching the next generation to do it with respect and responsibility
Hi Cody.. Saw you on the Friday 15th on the fox...I didn't crowd you and respected your space.. Others came right through the spot.... Man did you have a boat load on your 2nd charter for the evening.. Learned a lot from you and Aaron Mik ! Wish I had a heated shop to store my Ranger FS620.. I'd be out when it's below freezing at night... Saving up for a forward facing radar. I'm still learning the 3 unitls Lowrance that came with my Ranger.. I'm all in favor of dropping all the bag limits down to keep our fishery healthy.. I never keep a female and perfer keep a few 15 to 20 inchers
Did you all forget that fishing really isn't just for fun? People fish for food. I don't keep fishing after I've kept what i want. I practice selective harvest and fish for and keep many different species in different waters. For every person using livescope and not keeping fish, 10 more people are limiting out every time. I work hard using my knowledge, time, and skill to catch fish, don't take away my right to keep fish when im blessed with a good day fishing. Most people cannot afford to travel to fish for fun. If someone is spending 80-100 dollars to fish for a day, you would want the ability to keep fish. Since fishing is so expensive nowadays, i would rather keep a larger bag limit one time, than a smaller limit 5 different times. Less people on the water less often, is probably better for the resource anyways.
I’d prefer to get rid of the technology takes away so much of the mystery of fishing, really hurts the people that learned a body of water throughout a lifetime of fishing. Not that hard to read a screen and sharpshoot fish. Plus guys with 20 rods ready to fish can figure out the bite quickly. It seems very much fish surveillance then fishing. Appreciate the video, if the technology is allowed definitely need to change the limits on the fish. Watching a screen isn’t natural too me. Good conversation, but personally miss seeing the mystery of fishing.
You can have the best technology in the world but you still have to make that fish bite. Just because you have FFS doesn’t make you automatically a better fisherman.
good show and the only issue is the people that will use it to over harvest vs the fun of catching more fish. but the ones that over harvest are going to do it whether ffs is there or not. it should not be banned. lower bag limits and set a lower possession limit to equal the states daily bag limit
I don't think it should be banned. Lower the daily limits. Not everyone keeps fish. I just love catching fish and letting em swim. I rarely keep fish. Just cause you have a ffs doesn't mean you'll catch em every time. Cody, you nailed it!
I prefer the mystery of finding the fish without the technology, but I'm old and stupid. Technology does turn it into a video game and sore necks from looking down at a live scope rather than enjoying the scenery and exercising the eyes.
You nailed it. We need to adapt with the technology. Bag limits need to be changed, and more anglers need to practice catch and release. I also think, most of the people who are proficient enough to really smack fish with livescope, are already releasing most of their fish. I do not think livescope is the reason fish populations seem to be in decline, there is a lot of factors that go into that, but I don't think banning livescope is the answer. I think there is a large population of anglers who either don't have livescope, or are not proficient with it, and just think we are killing every fish we catch with it.
Most anglars who don’t have FFS think that you can catch every fish you see. That is absolutely not true!! Finding them and them biting are different. I never freeze fish anymore. I only keep what I can eat fresh, which is usually 1 fish. I can buy fish cheaper than I can catch them. It’s sport to me. Do I love to eat a small walleye or sauger, absolutely!! But I don’t keep one every trip.
I live in Colorado and fish Nebraska and Wyoming and think you should only keep what you're going to eat that day. Bag limits should be lowered if we want good fishing in the future or kids. I don't have live imaging but i have side imaging and do just fine catching fish. I think the purpose of going fishing is to just get out with family and friends and enjoy what God gave us.
Agreed, I don't own a FFS unit, nor do I plan on purchasing one; but 'owning one' does not equate to automatically catching fish; so to make them illegal is unfair, especially for guides who make their living putting clients on fish.. That being said, smaller daily limits and just educating folks on keeping fish vs catching fish for fun, releasing fish that may be full of eggs, protect the future so all of us can have a chance to catch them some day..
I just think if you start canceling things than no one win. It’s up to the fishery management to meet with anglers instead and try to find solutions and hear all sides before acting drastically.
I personally would hate to see it took away. I agree with you on the bag limits. They need to be lowered Also, they need more wardens turn force the rules. I am from Central Wisconsin and around here. I have not ran in the one warden in probably the last 10 years I think too many people abuse the privilege what’s lot limits and bag limits just my opinion.
Cody, Another great video and I couldn’t agree more with you on FFS. Although I don’t own a system, I believe it would be detrimental to disallow the use. Especially for you as a guide and doing your best to put clients on fish. It isn’t about bag limits, it’s about creating the best fishing experience. If the DNR or government bodies are worried about overfishing, lower the daily bag limit. True sportsman are not the ones who are over indulging on a precious resource. I was brought up on fishing and hunting. I taught my children and now experience this with my grandchildren. Just my 2 cents worth. Thanks again for your informative videos!!
You guys also have to beware of question #1 on how you answer it too. But it may put you on more fish but it doesn't mean there gonna eat. Yes they need to adjust the limits, but I also think they need to adjust the procession limit per house hold. That where it kills us peoe taking fish home every time they fish. I agree it gets kids more involved in fishing instead of gaming.
I like and agree with your comment megalive and livescope makes fishing fun, or "recreational" but we know too that fish can't really hide anymore with electronics. Many of us have in our discussions come to agree new limits may be needed..instead of twenty-five panfish, maybe 6 or 8 etc Or, perhaps special restrictions- anyone having Megalive or Livescope on their boat is kept to a reduced catch limit. We are having more fun, buying equipment, getting others interested.
Too many people don't care, livescope or not. They take take take daily when the fishing is easy. My local Fisheries Biologist say fish populations are not affected by human harvest. I throw the bull💩 flag.
Hey I’m a wading guy for those walleye, would you think the walleye bite is going to pick up here in the next few weeks? I’ve always gone in late March and early April.
I'd say change bag limits for boats or anglers(ice) fishing with FFS. It can be tough to get on fish with standard electronics as is. I only keep fish a couple times a year. when I do I like to be able to have a meal with a few folks. I fish from a kayak. Most of my friends don't have boats and those that do have old jon boats and can't afford FFS. It would be a shame to change the limits on folks that aren't privileged enough to spend thousands of dollars on fishing electronics
I saw you guys launch on Sunday. At least I’m pretty sure it was you haha. I was taking the kayak out. Been watching your channel for a couple weeks now.
Fishing is becoming a rich man game. Money can buy you speed in racing and so it goes in fishing. Money will catch you fish! Money can ruin activities.
Live Scope allows fish that would not normally be caught, get caught. I am talking about the ones that suspend in the middle of nowhere. Not on the bottom, not by structure, just the ones in the open so to speak. So, in a few years time, I feel walleye populations will be dramatically reduced. If you like walleye fishing, ban those FFS units. People have been fishing for thousands of years without them. You don't need one either.
I dont think you're over stepping at all Cody. Its people like yourself that have a following in the fishing community to voice that opinion. A lot of people see FFS as cheating. Its really all about having fun and catching fish. Being responsible with the resource is everyones responsibility. Just because you can legally keep a limit every day doesn't mean you should. All electronics make it easier, and i feel like everyone is pointing the finger and FFS. In my opion side imaging makes it easier to locate fish. You can go faster, and range out to 100' on both sides of the boat. You're right, technology isnt going away and we need to adapt as things/ times change. Lowering bag limits and slot sizes is the way to go about it. Just my 2 cents.
I am looking into Livescope I can get a 106sv and a 93sv with a lvs 32, I would upgrade to the lvs34 in a year or two. Or should I just a 106sv with a lvs34 which option do you think I should go with
I think the bigger question is question number 1 that states the WI DNR would fast track rules changes without us getting to voice our opinions and not use the current 2 to 3 yr timeframe for changes. If question 1 gets thru, not of the other ones matter because they can do whatever they want. The fact that a FFS ban could potentially kill our fishing tourism industry by fisherman with FFS not wanting to come to WI or tournament organizations that may look to other states to fish instead of spending dollars here is WI.
I see a lot of you guys on here use Livescope, but the fact is, you and myself all practice conservation management of the fish we fish to make sure there are fish for the next year and the foreseen future. I don’t think it should be banned… sure it helps locate fish, but so does sidescan…. It doesn’t put the fish in the boat, that’s you and all of us that put the right baits in front of them to bite, not the FFS. In the WI DNR wants to conserve the fishery for perch and walleye, restrict the commercial fishing boats on the bay setting up the long nets and buoys right by rock piles off of Bayshore up the east side of the bay.
Where can I find the questionnaire? Lowering the bag limit is a better idea. To many limit guys fishing. Everyone’s a guide nowadays that is thousands of limits being kept.
No it shouldn't be ban, if that's the case, down scan and side scan should be, side scan isn't much different than livescope, and people have used side scan to target fish before forward facing, next they'll want to take hooks away because they catch too many fish.
Most people realize what is going on, I don't usually keep fish. Friends are like " why didn't you keep any?" I enjoy catching, and if it's a 10.5" bluegill or 30+ walleye, FN awesome
Yeah . I don't think banning FFS is the play. I don't own it. But it's already out of the bag, so kinda hard to stuff back in. That said, I AGREE with you. Change bag limits. Adapt to that technology.
Well... I've become a better fisherman because of videos on RUclips...I don't keep more than I used too... despite of the fact that I am catching more. Another question on that questionnaire that bothers me is the first one...I think...the one about taking immediate action deemed necessary....that one scares me...if you get people with agenda's against fishing...ie...Peta
Livescope is just a tool does it make easier for people yes. If anglers and the state do there part with bag limits and maybe dropping down to one rod on inland lakes like Minnesota. It will be around. I mean they prolly thought the same with side scan. Just need to be sportsman and protect fisheries
💯 on the forward facing sonar takes...the state/DNR needs to spend more time actually managing the fish stock in our waters (ie bag limits, slots, ect) and less time listening to here say without doing any research.
great video and great fishing, I agree with you Cody.!! have a good day and week. god bless. hope to go fishing soon, we have catch and release last year fishing. first time fishing last year in few year. yes there might or should be a limit and not sure if livescope should be ban.
Leave the limits alone and tell your DNR to stop playing politics. Just keep it like it is now and can’t see how it would make any differences and besides your slot sizes and day limit is already in place so this DNR proposing this is not right. If you lower the day limit is only going to make it worst. I know from experience. The fishing industry and guides still need to make a living and bringing fishermens in is also good for your economy. Tell you DNR NO!
I dont think it makes sense to lower bag limits because of the fact that people use forward facing sonar. I think it makes sense to lower the bag limit because more people are catching their limits based off of social media reports and videos more than anything. I'm not against reports and videos by any means, but i know its easier for me to find information on how to target fish from social media and not even use forward facing sonar.
Tbh Cody, FFS is a little bit of cheating, sure it’s like playing a video game, but to an extent if you knowledge and experience with a species it basically lets you find the fish and experiment with different baits until keening a pattern in. But with that being said using a live scope can be cheating to an extent if you know what you’re doing😂, otherwise in my opinion ban it from competitive tournament fishing but allow it to be used for recreational fishing and drop the daily bag limits by 25-30%.
Anyone can take kids fishing, Livescope or not. And if Livescope helps them get more interested in fishing, then so be it. Banning technology is a mistake.
Stop lowering the limits… Pretty soon kids won’t be able to keep a fish like my home river of Steelhead with only one over 27.25 inch steelhead. Banning livescopes tranducers instead of taking away from kids. First you lower bag limits, than you lover it again and soon kids can’t catch and eat like my home river. This is wrong at every level.
More people need to go out and learn and teach all, adults and children, how to be responsible. I use a vexilar for ice fishing, and i caught more without it. 1800.00 devices i feel teach the irresponsible that they need to keep more to justify the $. Sadly we see it all the time people will pay stupid money for things, look at todays house prices. Just to say they have it. Its not making them better, they just like tossing $ around. If thats the case ill give you my address you can send the money to, and lets go learn how to read a river, look for structure in a lake and get skunked on 90% of the trips. I fish for the peace of it, not the feeling of i better justify what i just spent
If kids need livescope to like fishing then shame on their parents. Absolutely absurd statement. Fishing is a passion and hobby not a guarantee for instant gratification. I don’t think FFS should be banned but if you have the transducer in your boat the limit of fish you can possess is 0
Never said it was needed, but it is a tool that is helping kids relate. It’s not a shame to their parents, it’s the way of modern technology. It’s not going away.
Dude this wouldn’t even be a problem if the bass tournament world was divided right now!! Totally agree to lower bag limits ,really only probably 30% of the people that have livescope utilize it properly, it takes a lot of time and patience to be proficient at it. They’ll kill the sport for the younger generation by trying to take it away .
@@ddphotoadventure2657 possibly but that’s more of a icome issue than a age problem. I’m 43 and see more 20 YO with 90k boats than I ever have, when your passionate about something you’ll have a way to afford it. But everyone definitely feels different about FFS and I respect that
The only thing I've seen the last 5 years with livescope is that everyone who has one thinks they are a professional guide or a youtube superstar...😂😂😂
I’m 60 years old I remember when trolling was aloud every thing was going to be fished out. People have to learn it’s not about filling your freezer it’s about going out having fun and teaching the next generation to do it with respect and responsibility
Thank you for your feedback! Couldn’t agree more!
Where are you buying these custom painted blade baits you got some sick colours in that box
J&M jigs at the swamp donkey hut!
If you have a livescope on your boat regs should provide that you must release all fish. Lots of small lakes crappie raped already.
Why should bag limit for rest of use be reduced because of livescope users?
Hi Cody.. Saw you on the Friday 15th on the fox...I didn't crowd you and respected your space.. Others came right through the spot....

@CodyS Ya go ask Aaron M for his Root beer Hairjigs. I just ordered Buckskin and Tinsel to make my own. Aaron's Special Hairjigs

Reducing limits isn't going to solve the issue. When you're catching 100+ Fish a day. Too much added stress to the fish that isn't necessary.
Soooo we shouldn’t fish? It’s no different than trolling through giant schools of fish and catching 100+ fish a day.
I prefer the mystery of finding the fish without the technology, but I'm old and stupid. Technology does turn it into a video game and sore necks from looking down at a live scope rather than enjoying the scenery and exercising the eyes.

I agree I think every lake should have a set 5 crappie/pan fish limit. 3 walleye 1 over 17.
Good idea!
You are right on. Most people who use them don't keep their limits off fish.
I just think if you start canceling things than no one win. It’s up to the fishery management to meet with anglers instead and try to find solutions and hear all sides before acting drastically.
Wisconsin knows how to screw up everything. That’s why I move to iowa. Better deer great fish
I personally would hate to see it took away. I agree with you on the bag limits. They need to be lowered Also, they need more wardens turn force the rules. why do you prefer a blaid bait once the water hits 40?
Aggressive and the fish are more fired up!
If a livescope system cost $100.00, this wouldn’t even be a conversation. And that’s a fact.
Remember how Lake Link ruined local lakes?
Nice Walters! Does your neck hurt?
Hey I’m a wading guy for those walleye, would you think the walleye bite is going to pick up here in the next few weeks? I’ve always gone in late March and early April.
Yes it will!
Would April be too late? based on water temp?@@CodyS
I'd say change bag limits for boats or anglers(ice) fishing with FFS. It can be tough to get on fish with standard electronics as is. Fishing is becoming a rich man game. Money can buy you speed in racing and so it goes in fishing. Money will catch you fish! Money can ruin activities.

I agree, ban it. Then will see who actually knows how to catch fish.
100% agree

Hit the nail right on the head!
I am looking into Livescope I can get a 106sv and a 93sv with a lvs 32, I would upgrade to the lvs34 in a year or two. Or should I just a 106sv with a lvs34 which option do you think I should go with
Get the 34!
It’s crazy because out here in Utah the limit is 10 statewide with some lakes being 6. They get slaughtered unfortunately
I think the bigger question is question number 1 that states the WI DNR would fast track rules changes without us getting to voice our opinions and not use the current 2 to 3 yr timeframe for changes. @@KansasAnglingExperience Well that's a matter of opinion. I'm all for technology but at what point does it go to far?
@@user-br5di8qk6x that’s also a matter of opinion. Figure it out and get with it, or don’t. Cause the technology ain’t going anywhere.
Well said
@@KansasAnglingExperience According to the You Tubers, anything for a like and a subscription. Ethics right out the window. You get with it or don't.
How about lowering the fish limits for guys using a live scope only fish limit instead?
Leave the fish limit alone!
People need to stop pretending to be conservative only when it suits themselves. Oh yeah I'm conservative, bring on the technology I love it 🙄
If kids need livescope to like fishing then shame on their parents.
Apparently you are the problem
Dude this wouldn’t even be a problem if the bass tournament world was divided right now!! Totally agree to lower bag limits ,really only probably 30% of the people that have livescope utilize it properly, it takes a lot of
time and patience to be
proficient at it. They’ll kill the sport for the younger generation by trying to take it away .
👍🏼👍🏼
Nope disagree Most kids are not going to be able to afford livescope and I think the musky tournaments have or want to ban it
@@ddphotoadventure2657 possibly but that’s more of a icome issue than a age problem.
