I've been to Dunkeswell twice now and on both occasions the difference between kart performance was massive and very obvious. I raised it with the circuit and they insisted they were all the same level of performance.
I’ve also had this discussion and have been told that they are equal - this is unfortunately clearly not true at all. They are completely different, no matter how you drive each one and it shows in the on track performance.
Unfortunately I was not allowed to record the last round, strange… But the karts did feel a lot closer - think there’s been a bit of tinkering with them now to make them somewhat closer. However, there’s still some outliers and the weight difference involved is impossible to race against!
Hi mate, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I used a Go Pro Hero 8 on the top of my helmet. Did this for a couple of rounds but I will note that in the very last round I did. Go Pros and cameras seemed to not be allowed anymore which was a bit confusing and maybe why they said that to you when you popped down? Don’t really understand why this was as they were perfectly fine with it previously but it is one of those annoying things…
@@BenPaines they said it was an NKA rule which is fair enough. It's just a bit annoying for an arrive and drive session that I'm sure the NKA couldn't care less about 😂 Keep up the good work 👍
That’s a bit of a shame, other tracks make the same arguement and I agree with you 100%, always think it’s a bit silly but what can you do… Appreciate the kind words though, thank you very much!
Oh man the Red 5 kart they swapped you into is the one I got swapped into in round 2 from the kart I was previously in and bang instantly .5 of a second a lap slower than the other kart I'd had lol (forgot which one). It's really strange how difficult kart parity seems because of course it was the better kart for you but in round 2 it was a massive struggle to manouver in comparison to my earlier kart.
Was such a shame, one of the rockets was in behind it too when he pulled it out 😂 It’s such a shame the difference in them is far too high for the events to be fully enjoyable, if they were even a bit closer then it would be a lot better… As I said in the video, when I got in a kart that the winner of the first two rounds was in and he was a second off the pace, I knew it was going to be a rough time. Especially only having about 5-6 minutes in the end to get a time in. Will be heading down to the next one, but if the same happens again then I may have to give the rest a miss and invest the money for races elsewhere unfortunately 🥲
@@BenPaines Yeah I get it, I skipped round three because I was a little busy and then every post I've seen from people who were there has been talking about kart parity which was enough of a difficulty in the first 2 rounds that I think I'm probably gonna drop this one at least for now
I was in the same boat, missed out on the second one, so no drop round if I were to do the rest of them now unfortunately. It’s a massive shame but I might be looking to do the same depending on how it goes on the next one 😅
Which part of the track was this - the chicane or the hairpins? I think I kept in both parts in the video where there was a bit of a hairy moment but obviously the camera doesn’t quite capture everything if I know what you’re on about. I do apologise as well, was never my intention to do that but I hope to see you at the next one!
On the yellows, unless it is Teamsport or something I don't think you need to slow down on the yellows for the whole length of the track. Especially on a bigger track like Dunkewsell (unless they specify it in a briefing or something).
I slowed down at the point they were replacing the barriers, other than that I was flat out the whole time - as mentioned I did my fastest lap under yellow conditions; the kart difference was just that much :(
@@BenPaines yeah Logan told me that the karts there were crap. I hear they are just as bad at Clay Pigeon too (the rentals) is this a common theme among the larger tracks?
Unfortunately it’s the worst outdoor rental fleet I’ve experienced by far. Never used the ones at Clay, but if they’re anything like these then I’ll be steering clear. Most of the other big tracks I’ve been too have been excellent with their parity, so I don’t understand why it’s so far off here. It’s a shame as I was really looking forward to getting involved in the whole championship, but it seems to have come fully down to luck.
These boots are decent, the only issue I’ve had with them - these are the second ones I’ve owned. The outer side can sometimes wear away a bit, but that may just be from the way I press the pedals. Other than that, they are really good and comfy too!
both karts looked like absolute dogs... good effort regardless lad.
Unfortunately just the way it is sometimes 🤷🏾♂️
Appreciate it a lot though mate, thank you!

@@BenPaines Certainly agreed, at Round 2 I got Kart 2 and Round 3 I forgot which kart it was, but was a drivable kart.

Hey bud, good video.
What camera mount did you use? I went to Dunkeswell today and they didn't allow my chin mount so couldn't get any footage.

Thank you Sam! 🙌🏾
Cant believe you left the part out when you pushed me into the wall. No hate though

Bad karts AGAIN mate 😩top vid as ever and don’t worry I’ll wait for you Sunday so we can race like you did in the vid 🤣🤣🤣😉👊🏻
Seem to be plagued with it at the moment, wait until my next video… 🤐
I look forward to you waiting up for me at Red Lodge, you’re such a gentleman 🥰
are these OMP driving shoes any good? i am looking for a new pair as my old sparco k pole's are becoming quite snug and small for my foot
