Hi Ron. As you know, I also have my own studio here at Radio ALR, and I think it's funny that you bring up the microphone choice, because it's really something that there are many opinions about, and luckily for that.
I have a Shur SM7B and a Röde Procaster in the studio, and I also switch a little between what I use. But I also fall back to the Shue SM7B because of the deep sound and the better one to avoid background noise, and that's a bit of a problem for the Broadcast Dynamic Microphone.
as I said, opinions differ thankfully, but I think your output sounds great. As always, the best radio greetings - Finn from Radio ALR in Denmark

Either mic sounds fine Ron. And it may not even be necessary to use the Symetrix 528E. Not unless you’re just trying to get more gain since both are dynamic mics. And your “final output” processing is top notch. I’m in the exact same scenario with you and it’s crazy…..tweak and tweak and work like crazy on the sound yet 95% of the listeners tune in on a smartphone. Lol. But the bottom line…..it sounds as good as it can possibly sound to US. Keep up the good work!

Dear Ron, you sound great on the Shure but EV is more "articulated" and although it's hard to tell the difference I petsonally prefer the EV. Congratulations for your Show, it's funny that we have to go to online radio to listen to good old times radio style while witnessing the decay of terrestrial radio. Keep up the good work sir!

You sound great on both mics. Try out the Shure SM-27 Studio Condenser. It's my secret weapon.

With the right preamp, you could have a pos microphone and still sound good.

Ron's talent makes up for any mic. You're right, he could use a Amazon lapel mic and still crush it

Correct. Some mics don't even need a preamp. For live remotes. We use $15 Behringer mics that work just fine. 😁

I’ve noticed the RE27 has more clarity. But I’m not going to get my shorts in a knot about you using a different mic haha
