Detroit Rock City! Alright! Nice Birdman pick up. I honestly believe if a lot of our classic Aus bands had better distribution (even now) they would've been way more popular and much more highly regarded on the world stage. It was amazing seeing Deniz Tek & Wayne Kramer on the same stage absolutely ripping through those MC5 songs. Cheers...Ben

Wow, so many copies. Always preferred the US version. Had the rare Eureka Birdman Bootleg back in my vinyl days. Crap recording but was very valuable (got $100 trade in at Red Eye-must have thought I was a sucker, but it was bad). Saw New Race perform and was in Spain when their box set was #1 on the alternate charts. They were highly loved over there. When I told the guy at the record store that RY lived in the next suburb to me, he looked like he was going to faint.🤣😂. From that encounter, I was treated like royalty over there. Parties, guest DJ at clubs…….the gf at the time had no idea what was happening- she had never heard of them. They were, and still are one of the most iconic Australian bands ever.

I went to Spain a number of years ago & I had a similar experience particularly in Madrid. I’ve watched this video about five times now Sir Benster, really excellent needle drops. They hadn’t landed on my musical heli pad before, so this was really good for me. Listening to those needle drops several times have totally sold them to me. The thing that shocked me the most is the timeline. First EP 1976, and this album recorded 76/77. I can hear The Damned, The Clash especially in Aloha and of course The Ramones, but the timeline just shows that regardless of country all bands were exchanging and influencing each other. I need this album SBMBE and The Saints debut. Well done Benster, you are a Melbournion Guru and Bohisattvua of the first order! D🎸
Doyen, so glad you liked this one because alongside the Saints, Birdman are one of my favourite bands. It's amazing that back in those days without the ease of communication we have today that all those bands you mentioned independently created their own sound which tied in with the attitudes & styles that the o/s bands were coming up with at the same time. I'm loving these dives into a single band. Saw them supporting Flaming Groovies about 78. Great punk pioneers, they are very much overlooked but should be spoken about with the same reverence as the Ramones or the NY Dolls. Superb series Ben.

@@benrankins4446 Ben, The Groovies were good, Garage pop and exactly what l expected. I saw them on the strength of Shake Some Action, RB on the other hand were great, didn't know a single song but the set was one banger after another. They didn't play long if my memory is correct.

Hey Ben! Digging this band. Like how the vocal line follows the guitar melody in Non-Stop Girls. The Bassist and Drummer have the rhythm section locked tight and the bass isn't just mirroring the guitar like in a lot of the Punk I've been familiarized with. Enjoyed this listen. Cheers!
This was done to rub it in my face. After you complained about Penthouse Mike I mentioned you keep showing Radio Birdman. Well you did one up me by doing a whole video on them. That said, that is sooooooooo freaking good. I wish they would reissue that over here. I use to have a greatest hits album from them. Awesome band

Brevity? Descent into Maelstrom is a cool title. This is just the Ramones with a different record sleeve. This sounds like a fun band. Oh, there’s a black and then a white cover for the same album - so you have it three times! How many cd versions do you have?
