Growing tomatoes and peppers in off grid hydroponic garden tower using hydroponic nutrients. How to grow in a gutter.

Your garden doesn’t look trashy. It looks AMAZING
Every ididual have their own way of thinking, their mind only think of what they own and have and wants what they want, I see yours as an admiration to experience way of gardening in a different way. I even made mine as well. I love your channel very much.
I am so grateful for all I have learned from you. I took the basics from you and created a grow tent set up in my garage in NC that gave me bib lettuce all winter, as well as a few greens. Keep on growing and making videos please.
Awesome! Thank you for sharing that Brad! Keeps me going!
I just wanted to say thank you. I am a triple bypass survivor that is faced with a complete diet change. Not only am I eating healthy I am enjoying the process. Now I need to figure out how to succeed with bell peppers. Thank you so much
Being so self reliant on so much of your food needs IS PATRIOTIC MY FRIEND.
EXACTLY... I have all of my RED, WHITE and BLUE too...
"God Bless America"
I now have all of my RED, WHITE and BLUE Buckets... (5 of each)
I got my RED buckets at Harbor Freight...
I will use these to first Move to Albuquerque, New Mexico (US) and then plant later...
Thank you for another GREAT video... I have sent your videos to family members to show them how great your video is...
I love your page! I've been watching for over a year now. I'm in school for Agriculture but I have no agricultural background. Your video's have helped me build a hydroponic garden in my apartment office and start to enjoy the process. Thank you so much!
Awesome! I love this!
I’m so silly excited! I’ve been following you for a while now and have experimented right along side you. I decided I wanted to expand my indoor herb garden solely with hydroponics. Get this - in the barn of the house I’m in has a ton of 3 gallon food-grade buckets with lids! Thank you for being willing to show the rest of us how to experiment with what we already have. My basil, aloe, and mint thank you!
Awesome! Experiment and have fun!
Was walking through Walmart today and glanced up to see those Rubbermaid plastic 3-drawer storage stands...the ones with the 12" x 10" x 8" clear plastic pull-out drawers. I happen to have two of them at home holding craft stuff. But the 💡 went off! One stacked on the other with holes drilled in 3 sides becomes the perfect and easiest tower garden! I'd spray paint the drawers to keep algae minimal, use the angle-cut pool noodles and we're off to the races! Gonna give it a try this spring!
Nice!! Keep me posted!!
Now ,no one has an excuste to not try it. It,s almost the perfect kit for the most unhandy ,of the lover,s of growing your own delishious , healthy , pestiside free , simple to operate and relatively inexpensive and you don,t have to go to a store . Has to be an ah- hah moment . Thanks .
Even as a Canadian, I thought that the red, white and blue was a nice touch. I,ve been inspired by you and your channel and have started to collect supplies to get started this spring. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome! Here's to a great growing season!! Thank you!
I appreciate that you slowed down your talking speed compared to former videos. - Thanks for all the good ideas.
I have been very lucky to have found you very close to the very beginning of you posting videos. Thank you for what you do...
I'm patriotic as well!
God bless you and God Bless America
I am also left.
I only have limited space for gardening. It seems like hydroponic can save so much space😮😮😮
Your videos a so soothing. I can’t wait for the next one. Thanks Mike
In my experience, putting the tomatoes and peppers on the top of the lids work best. The other two buckets below can have other vegetables. A trellis can hold the tomatoes stems firmly. This also works with cucumbers.
Right on.
Hello from Texas. I found your channel while looking for container gardening due to our lack of rain. I tried it and it was a fail because our hard well water. My husband collected rain water for me in 5 gallon buckets all I did was add the solution you suggested and WOW! It is working! Next I’m going to try RO water. A big thank you!
Nice!!!
So amazing that you can do so much with so little! Love your channel!
Not trashy at all. Im a beginner and just love this idea and now in process converting my daughter inlaws down here in NZ thankyou so much for sharing
Thank you for sharing your journey! It’s so inspiring and has gotten me to take the step into hydroponics. You are making a difference! Keep on growin’ 🎉
Working on the bucket tower now. What a learning curve. You are so right. It takes some trial and error.
Thank you so much for all your videos. I got into garding in 2020 and didn't have. Much luck came across your videos and gave learned so much! Using your tips made it possible to have a successful garden even with all the water restrictions and limited resources.
Thank you Katie, I am so glad it helped. You made my day.
I absolutely learn more from my mistakes than anything else. It's all about the point of view. I look at every obstacle as something to get on top of to gain perspective. Ps love the meditation music in the background. 😊
Thank you! Happy gardening!
Novice grower but I've been using maxigro & maxibloom from general hydroponics and had great success with them.
Awesome! Thanks!
For tomatoes and peppers I would add cal-mag and epsom salt to the formula once blooms form and perhaps switch over to Maxi-Gro Bloom. Love your ideas and the heart of this channel.
THese already have cal mad and epsom, using masterblend.
Good one, Mike. You did a super job on the video as well as the plants. I like what I am seeing, very much. Peeple will need what you are doing, perhaps desperately so.
I am new to the channel. I think your garden looks great! You are a Victory Gardner. I started small. A friend gave me a very small indoor aero garden. I have fresh tomatoes and lettuce. I like the bucket idea. Going to try. Thank you.
I just made my very first bucket up today with some lettuce. I'm looking forward to seeing how it grows! Thank you!
Awesome!!!
I actually realized that I brought your down sprout years ago I didn't know that the solution was already in there I never even looked to see but I have the very first one you made it the bendable one
Nice to see you setup for perpetual gardening from seedlings to grow out. Great looking little garden in your backyard Mike!
Very inspiring Mike as usual. Thank you for continuing to post. Such great contact.
You're clearly working that poor little dog too hard. LOL
Love the red-white-and-blue of the bucket system.
Haha, right!
I really like the new trajectory of your video. I felt it taught me better. Thank you.
Great info, thanks. Building our greenhouse this weekend!
Can you try strawberries on the garden towers? I have started my own garden tower with herbs but eventually strawberries sound cool, the problem would be supporting them. Or maybe on a downspout 🤔
I think I may be able to make the bucket thing I'm now waiting for my master blend to come its in its way now
Your series of videos have been a big help to me. I have killed more plants than have lived. I was using rockwool and had problems with rot. Plus the summer weather heat at 100deg +. I have adapted using pool noodle and doing skasky method. Over using pump and ebb and flow. But I think my nutrient solution is too high. But I am only a learner. Thanks for your videos and information.
Awesome, I love it!
Love love all you do & we are gonna try your methods!! Keep your videos coming! ❤❤
Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing 🙏 😎 🏖 🏝
Thank you so much for being awesome and sharing your knowledge. You have answered my questions and giving me confidence to do this
I absolutely agree with everyone else your buckets don’t look trashy at all!! Must’ve been some jealous person who said that and who doesn’t have a clue! I love your milk jugs too! It is addicting and yes General hydroponics is what I use exclusively! I’ve tried other kinds but it’s the one that’s worked for me the very best. I use the liquid trio with a cal-mag and it works fantastic for growing all kinds of leafy greens, cucumbers, tomatoes and the best sweet peppers you’ve ever eaten! I have cucumbers growing and 102 lettuce plants of all kinds of varieties which makes for an amazing collection of baby greens every 7-10 days as I harvest the outer leaves. My cucumber plants have taken off and my sweet peppers have just sprouted and are growing their true leaves. Can’t wait to transfer them into my totes where I grow mine one plant per 70 litre tote. They grow incredibly well and all kinds of delicious peppers. My biggest problem at the moment I sprouted too many sweet pepper plants!! So I may try overcrowding the totes with more plants. Just means I refill them much more frequently!🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦
Thanks Leanne! You rock!
Thank you for your videos and sharing your lessons learned. Wealth of knowledge.
So awesome to see all your experiments.
Super inspirational!!! Thanks for this and your other videos. I am learning a ton!!!
Awesome! Now you can grow a ton!
Thanks for all the info. , keep em coming . Your videos are great!
Thank you for sharing your videos and information. What are your recommendations for winter? I live in PA and am going to start a bucket system.
I LOVE your garden!
I can't wait to shake your hand when you hit a million followers.
Shake my hand when I have helped a million people grow their own food.🍃
Whats the plan to hold the tomatoes up once they get big? Love your videos! Thanks!
90 degrees? We had snow this morning. Spring is being indecisive!
Woah! Yeah, it got down in the 30's last week. Our heat is running one day and the air conditioning the next.
Beautiful and appreciated as always. Do you have any videos about pest control? I was doing good or so I thought and then…spider mites. I read some things on how to get rid of them but how do I prevent them?
Please be so kind as to show the process between rock wool and placing the seedling in the pool noodle? We bought all the equipment you have, but we're uncertain about that bit. Thanks
I think this is the video: ruclips.net/video/srSSaHsscLA/видео.html
I have started watching you and I love what you are doing. I planted some seeds in the little black containers and they have started to spout. Would did I do next. Need help. Thanks
ruclips.net/video/kcWCnoHWtIk/видео.html
What do you do with all the left over roots? Compost? I wonder if you can turn the roots into seed starter mix
Yes, compost pile
Hi there 😊 Been watching your vids and learning how to grow. Quick question, where did you get your shade house? I love it! I've learned so much from you! Thank you for all that you do!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Hey! Thanks Robbi! I made it myself out of two old scaffolds that we were going to throw out. Just added some lumber and bent a few pieces of pvc to zip tie the shade cloth on.
@@KeepOnGrowin Oh wow! Very nice! I did see the holes on the sides that are perfect for the shelves and was wondering if that's what they were. Super cool and great idea. I appreciate you getting back to me. Thanks Mike! 🤗🙏
I've never asked, but, with as much as you grow, do you sell any?
I'm just now fixing to set up for this years growing. I've been very busy, moving, settling in and getting things in order. I want to get as good as you someday💞
Just had my 62nd birthday, so hopefully I am successfull and grow, grow, grow!
No, I don't sell any. Thank you Susan, you have been an awesome supporter for years.
What type of tomatoes did you plant in the towers?
Looks absolutely great!
I really enjoy watching your videos, simple and yet effective. I tried to work with masterblend for a small setup with peppers, the plants grew well but when it started flowering, the flowers started dropping. Is it necessary to change the ratio of the masterblend during flowering? Thank you so much and keep on growing.
I did not change on mine.
Great efforts Sir, absolutely amazing..
I've an query..Does the aeration is necessary in this type of system
Not necessary but is an added benefit if you do.
Love your videos! Can you help me find your link(s) for the milk jug ladder system hydroponics and set up instructions? Are they in a particular play list? Thanks!
Here you go: ruclips.net/video/Z627ntMc1N0/видео.html.
The fitting were from @MakerPipe and made with 3/4 emt tubing.
What nutrient mixture do you use/recommend for growing tomatoes and peppers? Love your channel
Thank you! Look on my frequently asked question playlist. The nutrient video is there.
Do you reuse the pool noodles? & how do you clean them?
Just found your channel. Love your channel. Thx
Welcome!
How does bucket yields compare to in ground. I have limited space so I'd really like to know
So cool! Do you have any issues with mosquitoes with the standing water? I’m in Texas and mosquitoes are a big problem. Any suggestions on how to prevent them with the bucket towers?
It's in here: ruclips.net/video/VPG6dbbn6FU/видео.html
Man can you make a video everyday
Several, This is not the only channel.
Hi, I am new to your channel and immediately subscribed after watching one of your videos. Quick question: have you tried growing green beans or snowpeas hydroponically?
Green beans, yes. I have not done snow peas yet.
Hi Mike. I live in Bulgaria and am itching to start with the growing. We have a very limited assortment of fertilizer here for this type of growing. Any suggestions how I might be able to create my own by buying the individual ingredients and mixing them together? This could maybe even be subject for a new video seeing that many viewers live in countries that do not have the abundance of choice like in the US. Would love to hear from you regarding this issue. PS, your channel has to be one of the most positive I have ever subscribed to. God's work.
Try water from rivers. Or try seaweed in a blender, strain the pulp out with a colander, add Epsom salt. Kelp possibly, also.
@@janinemaldonado6806 Hi. Thanks for the tip.😃😃
I am in Utah and am interested in growing tomatoes this way. When would I try to start this process. Mind you it snowed 7 inches at my house a few days ago 4/4/23!
Start with greens, walk before you run.
Omg, did the peppers actually grow? I felt like I was on a trippy meditation video
What do you do for carrots, beets, radishes, turnips
You have let the Caterpillar 🐛 eat your feeding the world ❤ the yard looks great 👍🏼 mike
I have your older downspouts that come to a point on the ends. Any advice on how to deter mosquitos from wanting g to get into the nutrients inside of them? Can I seal them with silicon? Would that be safe?
Yes, you can seal them. Julianna also said she puts a little neem oil in and that helps.
i was on homedepot and looked up their buckets and someone said they were BPA free however they were not food safe due to the orange paint and silicone. Can anyone speak to this? Looking for the most natural way to do this without plants and veggies soaking up those chemicals and dyes
Good teaching vibe ...
WOW JUST AMAZING👍👍
Thinking about going with you horizontal downspout design. Is there a risk of cooking my plants and if so, how would I avoid this? I live in south Florida where temperatures regularly get into the upper 90’s. I like your design because there are no pumps but I’m afraid with the heat and full sun, the water in the downspout will basically boil.
I live in North Fl and have been growing outdoors for the past 10 years.
I'm very interested in the video that deals with the heat in Florida.. can you please tell me what the name of that video is?
Not made yet. Soon.
Love this video ❤❤
I want to build one of those towers.
Do it!!
Thank you for the video! Do you think the product Liqui Dirt" would work for the nutrients?
Sorry, don't know.
Dumb question time! If you put holes all the way around the buckets, how do the plants in the back get sun? I don't see casters on the bottom.
Just to give you options. If away from a wall, you can use some holes for access.
Do you have a video on how you use all of the vegetables you harvest? I’m wanting to make a variety but don’t want to make more than 2 people can eat. 😂
No, I do a few recipe videos but people are not that interested, lol. We juice a lot of the greens and freeze some in individual portions.
@@KeepOnGrowin oh that’s smart about juicing them. We have a juicer. I also freeze some for my smoothies already so can do that as well. Thank you so much for all your tips!
Do you want to have just 1 produce in each container???
So the whole thing is tomatoes or whole thing kale??? I've watched your stacking 5 gallon bucket video. I want to start with greens and fruits
Yes, that's what I do. Plants use nutrients at different rates. I find it helpful doing it that way.
How do you know how much room you need for the roots of your hydroponic plants? E.g. can you grow a squash in a 2 liter bottle? A 1 liter bottle?
Bigger plants need bigger containers.
@@KeepOnGrowin do you have any kind of baseline or rule of thumb as to how big?
@@ShotgunLlama Sorry, no, I am not that organized.
I was wondering what ppm and pH you generally set up I am in Australia and do not have the choices as far as nutrients. I am using a mix of 27 nitrogen 4 phosphorus and 8.9 potasium 5 sulphur and a small amount of Ebsom salts mixed at 1100 ppm.
I am on a quest to be the world's dumbest gardener. I have never used a meter in my hydroponic growing.
Sorry if you have answered this before, but don’t these downspouts you use contain BPAs?
If you are concerned, just use food grade containers.
Do I need a air filter pump if I want to make these hydroponics systems towers ?
It's an added benefit but not needed
so i been watching a lot of your vids but i cant understand how do you plant the seeds, english is not my first lenguaje so maybe i missed something
ruclips.net/video/kcWCnoHWtIk/видео.html
Really awesome
Woooow
Thanks again.
What’s the length of the downspouts??
ruclips.net/video/fTPs8J4eH50/видео.html
ASMR
im a newbee whats in the water in bucket ?
ruclips.net/video/SaN6Dlf2hCg/видео.html
So are those about 8 " at 60* opposing angles?
Did you see a tape measure and a protractor, lol.
@Keep on Growin' with Mike VanDuzee nope just a tiny bit of construction knowledge and geusstimation of length by your hand. I'm guessing 7 ish now and 60. I have a thing sometimes for accuracy, but my buckets look great, I just don't have them planted. Was waiting for this video.
@@kimberleykanous5610 Yeah, I used to build houses and remodel. Had my fill of numbers and just wing it when I can. I have nothing against precise measurements.
WOW!❤❤❤👍👍👍
You CAN PURCHASE THE END CAPS ALL DAY AT LOWES FOR 1.99
No you can't. Why would anyone cap the end of a downspout. Show me one. It's not a gutter mind you.
When the dollar collapses, food will become currency and skills will become invaluable.
