I am still a rookie in electronics and and I like your video's very much. You are a very good teacher! 👍👍 Thank you for all your uploads and sharing your knowledge and passion 🙂
I have 0 studies on electronics but I have always fixed stuff(who knows how lol), but I just had enough on how to know this numberless capacitors values, your video made it very CLEAR! I even understood what you ere doing with the oscilloscope, I saw you had courses to learn about electronics repairs and im very interested where can I learn more?
Hi there, thanks for such valuable information. Quick question, what's the brand of that $40 microscope you where talking in this video. I have a £40 one but with much much poor resolution comparing with the one you have. Thanks
Greatly appreciate the share of this unvaluable information and the priceless advice. I was always wondering how to know if a capacitor stills on the range of acceptable values and not just if it's just "Open or short circuited". 👍 + sube + a sincere thanks Bob. Bless.
Hi Bob, thanks for the very interesting video, can I ask you a question!?, If one does not have an Oscilloscope there is a procedure to do these calculations, how did you do it? Thanks Bob.
Hello, super interesting! (I just Subscribed : )) Small question, how do you know which is negative and positive on the double connections of the BNC that connects to the probe leads? Does it matter? Like right now the black is next to the Oscilloscope and the red is front of it. What occurs if those were swapped ? Thanks!
I will ask a question that I think I know the answer but... What if the capacitor is dead? There is no way to know what is it's value right? (Assuming we don't have the schematics of the PCB....)
I've started my journey into the world of electronics and the first question I have is how can we find the values of a multilayer ceramic capacitor that is shorted without schematics??
I'm in the same boat as you, I've been able to find similar capacitors on similar banks of the same circuit type on my board to use as a reference, using those capacitors "should" give you a good estimate to replace the shorted cap, another tip is to download the datasheet for the IC that is tied to that capacitor circuit, typically the vendor provides reference schematics that will provide recommended capacitor and resistor values.
Bro can I use same color and same size ceramic smd capacitor . Actually Mera bike abs ecu water damage ho gaya iska board diagram nahia hm be pura all smd check Diya no short-circuit but one dark brown color ceramic smd on ecu board it's damaged one point . So I couldn't calculate the value of the smd capacitor . Than what will do to replace . Please help bro . This smd capacitor on board no value no marks are mentioned . After I searched on Google it can any side ceramic capacitors
Hi! If your Function Generator has 50 Ohms internal resistor, you don't need it. If you don't know your internal resistor, 600 or 1 Kilo ohm you have to make the measurement in the output of the function generator and add the resistor or to use the voltage divisor formula.
I still can’t figure out ho to find what little capacitor is causing my motherboard not to power up, there’s a bunch of them beeping, I wish someone on RUclips made a video starting from the power and working through each component trying to find what one is making the other ones not work... I’m going to have to change each one of them until they are all not beeping anymore then hopefully my laptop will boot up again
typically one lead of the capacitor is usually tied to ground, if that's what you are referring to then it's most likely not the cause of your power up issues. However if they are shorted to ground then you only need to replace those. ALL of them should not be shorted that's very rare for that to happen.
VALUE R DOES NOT REPRESENT THE INTERNAL RESISTOR OF THE FUNCTION GENERATOR THINK ABOUT ESR VALUE ITS THE INTERNAL RESISTANCE OF THE CAPACITOR COMPLETELY WRONG EXPLANATION

Nice lab. I studied electrical engineering at an ABET certified school and this topic was never explained so clearly.
Amazing mentoring and less burnt components thank you for showing what the " experts do not"....great video!!

True the right way it to use a clip to ground the multimeter and unse one lead only for probing , very good video

👍 + sube + a sincere thanks Bob.
Bless.
That’s nice. If only everyone had all the fancy equipment
Hello. So the line you check to inject you wire to ground to protect?
Or an random groundpoint?
So many questions.
Awesome course you give us BOB. Keep it up. This technique is quite useful thanks👍
Good video good application of time constants .

Hi there , please upload video about laptop repairs if is possible for you . because your explanation is very simple and perfect . thnx
Great video but I'm a little confused at how the function generator and the oscilloscope are connected
Avery nice explanations..good life you deserve .thank you somuch
Thanks for teaching me something new.
Usually you want to know what capacity had broken capacitor not good one.
Thank you bob. I know it very old video . But it is very helpful. Thank you
Wow amazing,, God bless you sir,,new subscriber 🤗
These are really good tips thanks.
Love you microscope! Brilliant!

Bob, thank you for another great video.
hi Bob . at 12:55 , you guess capacitance of the capacitor. how to say it's one microfarad?
I will ask a question that I think I know the answer but... What if the capacitor is dead? There is no way to know what is it's value right? (Assuming we don't have the schematics of the PCB....)

Urrrg. now I have to start learning math from the beginning, and buy equipment too!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, great video!
how do we test or measure smd capacitors on analog oscilloscope but not digital oscilloscope?
Thank you for all your
Hi during this checking do it need power supply to the board?

Thanks sir for sharing your tips and idea
any cheap ways of generating the 1vpp @ 100 hz like you did? I have to drop 500$ otherwise D:
you are a great teacher
Buenos tardes adjunto envío el saludo de la forma de información del vídeo pero quería saber si es posible ver en español gracias
Top job😀
So Wonderful
THANK YOU. but also, with this method and this Matos , we are still in the (probably ..)
WHAT DOES e REPRESENT IN THE FORMULA
2:14 I will need to attach a 50 ohms resistor to that port or it's built-in the machine?

Hello
Can you please share the brand and ref of your nice 40usd ‘microscope’ as the quality is really good ?
Thanks
Which microscope did he use?
@@markmutahi1501 the "microscope" is a camcorder lol
Smarter than most who want to buy a microscope lol
Great tip and very useful!
Nice. Teacher
That's the most amazing 40$ microscope I've seen
Perdón mí ignorancia pero ya salió este video en español?
Why not simply use a dmm?
Thank you master
Sir can you help me
using my esr meter and call it a day…

When you try to look too smart you.
A basic multimeter has capacity meter.!!! Just set on capacity measurement mode and put probes on the capacitor.
multimeter capacitance mode is not good at all in circuit, and not that accurate when out of circuit.
Que buen video saludos
This is complicated like hell!
It would be more easier for me to desolder the capacitor then test it with a multimeter😂
cool !!
