- We FINALLY get off grid for the first time and test out our battery, water and off grid capability at Notch Point. What a cracker of a spot! We could of stayed here so much longer if we knew just how good our off grid capability actually was! We also visited Cape Palmerston National Park and wish we found it sooner. What an amazing little corner of the world...

Good to see your free camping setup worked well for you. Our kids like the open space more than the caravan parks. But they also reckon the water slides are hard to beat. Keep up the top footage guys.

Re van security Wheel clamps 😁 x 4 takes them quite a while to remove + eg motorcycle gps tag unit sends message to tour phone on any movement and tracks it failing that a good insurance company eg NRMA , QBE etc.

Big Oz Explorers mine are light , I’ll check the brand when I’m home, borders closed so still in NSW at the moment, Went to Kangaloon yesterday to check out some of Jane’s dead relatives (the best kind lol) absolutely stunning drive don’t take the van 😳 , trip was just awesome took a back road before Mittagong that took us via Wingecarribee reservoir sadly was raining,I’ll launch the drone next time, found the old church yard renamed Dibley, then on to the cheese factory at Robertson, under no circumstances take the Macquarie pass from Robertson barely fitted the Triton around some of the corners. 😬👋🏻
Looks like you had the DO35 hitch lock upside down. It actually has the slide locking into the groove and the lock part is on the bottom. Hope this helps if it is the Cruisemaster lock.
Hey Mark, after this was recorded we then learnt that it was upside down! We are aware of that now but we had to share the footage regardless LOL

I have to say Chris is 100% on to it with the cleaning. When I clean my car I hose every nook and cranny then spray lanox on everything underneath. I do a lot of beach driving and offroad but underneath is like brand new. Pays to spend the time doing it.

Good to see you guys doing the free/low cost route! Seriously you’ll quickly feel super comfortable branching out and will begin to avoid van parks like the plague! The whole idea is to experience these amazing places and not be jammed in with 500 other people!
Seriously, that’s the main thing we want to do! We’ve just had so much going on with the new car, Covid, family visits, inverter set up etc etc… After our current location, we have nothing booked and we intend on going mainly free camping! Especially now the national parks are back open and we have no bookings... There is no fear here just we booked so far in advance 🤦🏼♀️😂
We put a truck stand under draw bar and take the dolly wheel with us

Hey guys great vid ref the panels don't worry about the voltage you should be looking at the watts total and don't forget you will only return around 75% of the watts you have eg:
Total 600watts available on roof practically you would get in full sun around 450 watts.

3:52 definitely second cleaning your chassis rails, especially after beacg driving. Also, you can generally get a rotating concrete cleaning head extensions for most power washers to get rid of all the mud/grime built up over the years.
Chris said he had heard of those extensions but was yet to use them, thanks for your comment! Good to see others clean the car as well as he does ☺️
Have a look at the Wii Anti theft system. It is a movement sensor and alarm and if activated it will lock the electric brakes on the van. You can also upgrade to have GPS tracking and notifications.

I like the things dirty too! Got a brand new dual cab ute acouple of months ago, and the first time I got it really dirty off road, I was so happy haha.

You need a better solar charger.. If you had a victron mppt 100/50 you would be easy pulling 50 ah a hour instead of 27 with the redarc

Looking at the shadow cast on the roof the sun is fairly low....you will get best power coming in when the sun is higher and more direct on the panels....

This may seem a little unbelievable but we know the wife of the guy that went missing, helped her through that terrible time, I ended up taking control of the boat and selling it for her here in Emerald so she didn’t have to deal with it lovely people, sad story, good to see he will always be remembered.

Hey Will, we just use a suction cup mount! The one he put on specifically that day has three suction cups on it, it’s an eBay special but it works awesome!

30 amps if the sun is 90 degrees to the panels but mostly it will be on a lower angle.

Recommend you guys get hema explorer maps for off-road and out of service maps coverage.
We’ve had this recommended a few times but yet to purchase! Still undecided as Google Maps usually cuts it... 🤔

You need to buy maps or get yourselves and off road gps hema polaris or even a vms they all work with sattelite so you don't need phone service
Undecided what our long-term solution will be, we hear mixed reviews about the hema map setup… As long as you’re prepared, Google and the pre-research works... 🤔🤔
@@BigOzExplorers I use maps and find gps opens up a lot and shows were your heading and they can also leave a trail I wouldn't be with out one now I'm 56 now I've grown up in the bush we use to camp basic and use paper maps and did for a long time it's so easy with a gps I drove an old landrover when I was about 5 or 6 and can remember the old maps from then how times have changed
Hi guys, Love your vids.. To help your google maps dowload the area in google maps offline. Same goggle maps app. gives you your location if no mobile signal. You have been treavelling through my area(Gladstone area) . well done.

It’s easy. Open google maps. Touch the 3 bars beside the search window. A menu will open. Select offline maps. Move the map inside the window over the area you want to save. The bigger the area the more memory is required. Select download. That’s it . That map can be accessed if you lose internet service. Ken

Check out seek adventures for bogged. From charge battery and panels. There lots of theory. But your charger is charging the batteries and will put the rate in. You covering one panel is not enough. Remember this your doing coast camping and wind or use a gen. You will have no problems camping a week or more. For security. Noise bring notice. My car alarm is noisy. A bad exhaust. Beep beep. Everyone looks. But if they want it they take. Once I was robbed buy a old couple. Not my camaras out of my tent. They took all my drinks. They came over so friendly. Do not stress. If not clean or the place does not look. When settled you might have the best adventures and that will live with your children for life. Russell.

We’d have to rejig how they’re attached to the roof to do that, they seem to be screwed flat! Will have to send Chris up there next time 😆👍🏻
been there, done that, return is not worth the effort....Better off with an additional folding set but your BMS will still only deliver 30 amps into your batteries,

That’s a very good question Adam, we will have to ask the person who installed them!! 🤔
@@BigOzExplorers I'm asking because if wired in series if one panel is obstructed it drops the volts across the system. If ran in parallel if one is shaded it only affects that one panel. Both ways have pros and cons
