Good to know that the graduates of UoT have good employment results! I am also considering applying to the MBA of Rotman (with a GMAT score of 730), but I have been really scared by some comments on Reddit lol It seems that the degree itself is good and fine and definitely helps studens land great jobs (despite some recent turbulences in Canada)
Yeah I would say if you’re not from Canada or not in Canada, getting an MBA degree at Rotman will be really helpful for you to land a job in Toronto and build local networks!
Thank you for nice vid, subbed! 2 quick questions/comments for you: (1) Is the salary in Greater Toronto still roughly 3X that of Taiwan's salary for a roughly equivalent role? I last interned in Taipei back in 2003/4 and I recall that was roughly the difference for an entry-level tech position vs a position in Vancouver (and also a reason I did not stay in Taiwan). (2) On the point of "western education encourages you to explorer more before university", I think there's a dark side that's not discussed much. My view is that if you look at many undergrads in Canadian universities, many still don't know what they're doing and what they want (at least back in the early 2000s). So it's not really a difference between the different approaches, but rather more of their age and how mature the student is upon entering university. With the Taiwanese approach, at least the student would have decent grades. Sometimes it really is too late to switch into certain roles (especially tech) when one is in their late teens or early 20s. But I do like the western approach of exploring more when kids are young, they do seem to be happier than when constantly bombarded by exams like in Taiwan. Anyway keep up the great work, looking forward to more of your vids!😀
Thank you for the comments and subscription!! 🙂 It’s very hard to reply for your first question as it really depends on what job you do, what level you are etc. Also I think ‘tax’ is also a really big factor - like if you’re comparing the salary before or after tax, it would be very different. I’d suggest you to check the official data from the government. That might give you some clear/accurate ideas! But overall after an MBA degree the salary does seem to have to big jump for myself. I can only speak for myself as I know the jobs in China probably pays more and they have lower tax too. And for the second one, thanks for sharing your view! I totally agree that it is possible that lots of students in undergrad that don’t know what they are doing in Canada, but I know they don’t necessarily have to choose a firm department before they enter university. However in Taiwan we’re force to do that - I graduated from Public Finance at NCCU but I had no idea what Public Finance is about before I choose it and in fact, I realized I didn’t like it in my freshman year but it was really hard for me to switch to other departments..in Canada I think the first year in university is more in general and you get to experience and choose whatever you’re interested in second year. That’s from my observation but I could be wrong too given that I was not studying university here.
I believe you make a right decision. Congratulations! Welcome to Edmonton or Calgary in Alberta!
Thank you for the comment! Yes I’d love to visit one day!!

那就試試找in between,或是把時間拉長一點還是aim for MBA roles
what you do at bank?
Taiwan (Republic of China 1911) ichiban ger ner
原来台湾教育跟大陆一样,都是那么卷,比成绩等等;
