The basketball program at Purdue has been top-notch even with the disappointments. The coaches and players have demonstrated consistent and tenacious dedication to playing Black and Gold B-ball that is truly appreciated by most of the fan base. It's also not hard to armchair quarterback the team and coaching. It's been SO MUCH FUN being a Boilermaker over the past few years. But remember - it's kids playing a game. Go Boilers.

I completely agree. Sadly, sports media as a whole have moved twords a championship or bust attitude. Obviously a natty is the goal, but winning big ten championships is still an accomplishment for these guys. No doubt that they put in the work every day.

Great video. A handful of minor inaccuracies tho. Our first ever #1 ranking came in the 21-22 season, not 22-23. Stefanovic and Wheeler didn’t play in 17-18 just to name a couple. Not hating, just letting ya know.

I got to go to the Final 4. It was unreal how many Purdue fans were there. We dwarfed the other 3 fanbases. UConn was so stacked and it was a frustrating loss in the end, but in most other years Purdue would have won the title handily. But with as many Purdue fans were there, the Purdue-themed bars simply were beyond capacity and unable to serve us all. Kind of a good/bad situation.

To fully tell the story, a few minutes should have been spent analyzing why Purdue finished last in the Big Ten conference and what became the driving force behind Painter's approach to recruiting. For those who don't know, the answer is Terone Johnson's brother Ronnie.
No disrepect to Terone Johnson, who is an amazingly good guy despite being raised by a complete ***hole. Terone had all of the characteristics Matt Painter looks for in a player. So, it was not surprising that Terone's more talented and sought after brother signed with Purdue a couple of years later.
What was surprising was the Ronnie was a selfish piece of ****. The kind of player who puts himself before the team. As the team struggled, Ronnie, with the help of his father, mutinied, tried to take the rest of the team with them and force Painter out as coach.
Everything culminated in a post-game press conference in which Coach Painter lamented signing players because they have family on the team. He said, "this isn't high school, I don't have to sign guys just because they live in my district." Ronnie got the message and transferred.
And you wonder why Painter let Kanon Catchings walk?

That is literally a ten year transformation. Tf else am I supposed to title a video about Purdue going from the worst team in the big ten to one of the best in the country. I mean us losing the national championship still doesn’t erase the choking over the last decade. If they had won the title then yeah it would’ve meant something but we didn’t. Now we still have the losing to low seeds narrative and more importantly no actual title we can look back on then just second place.

Winning the national championship still wouldn't erase the choking, you can't erase it. Those games still happened. we could win 10 championships, and that would still be part of our history. If you can't look back on that run and be happy and just see it as "second place," idk what to tell you.

@@limitless_pulls No one cares about Virginia’s past and present choking after they won the title in 2019 as again they have that title they can look back at.
If we won 10+ championships, no one would care that much if Purdue struggled to get another title as having 10+ championships would be second all time. You don’t see people laugh at UCLA for being mediocre now do we
