I worked at the federal Center. They retained a lot of the original building inside. The dining room has original crystal chandeliers. The original Italian water fountain. This is used by the employees. Original wallpaper I believe from Asia is on the walls. The entryway where you were walking is Gorgeous. Gold leaf pillars, balcony, etc. The Italian original marble staircases are throughout the building.
They have Public Tours of the building. I know you would be fascinated. It's amazing. This Building shows the quality, craftmanship, and attention to detail that was once a hallmark of great buildings.

Whats crazy is you past by another cereal factory at about 2:45 . Ralstons! Went from ralston purina to ralstons to Con Agra foods, to Treehouse foods then abrupt closing in 2009 or 10 forcing me to look for employment elsewhere 😭 RIP to Ralston Foods and all the people it affected when closing its doors and shutting down. RIP Jacob Hanley and Gabriel Mix!

The former Kellogg Sanitorium was used as a veterans hospital during World War II and it has been a federal office building since at least the 1960s if not longer. It is home to several defense department offices. West of town there is a military installation called Fort Custer and a military cemetery with over 30,000 graves.

    • @jackccrofootjr7228

Sorry Welldwyer but you information is wrong just like most of this video.
The Kellogg Sanitarium not Sanitorium (1876). Fell into receivership about 1929 after the Stock Market Crash. It was operated on a limited basis until WWII when the Army Purchased it as a gen. med/surg hospital with specialties in Orthopedics and Rehabilitation (for the wounded and amputies, and those who lost eyes. It was renamed the Percy Jones Army Hospital. until after the Korean War when the Gov't Services Dept took it over, and it served several Gov't Depts (ie Civil Defense, Supplies and Distribution, etc) It became the Federal Center.
The Veteran's Hospital at Fort Custer (between BC and Galesburg) was always a Service Members Mental Facility originally purposed for shell shocked Veterans (today PTSD). Recently Closed.
In 1917 they also built an entire Hospital out at Camp Custer (later Fort Custer) to serve the troops in training and to train Army Medical Personel for WWI, to include Medics.

Anybody know where the Hi-Lo Club is or was? Charles Weedon Westover, Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, moved to Battle Creek when he got out of the army after being drafted in 1954. He started his music career playing rhythm guitar at the Hi-Lo Club for the house band called The Moonlight Ramblers. From those humble beginnings he would go on to change his name to Del Shannon and have a number one hit with Runaway.

Yeah. You should not have been able to video record at a department of defense facility. The security obviously was way too lax that day you should have been escorted off the property actually. This building was locked down the day of the Oklahoma City bombing as a potential target in all the barriers out front were added at that time. You could no longer drop off or pick up employees in the little roundabout to the right of the pillared front of the building.

Y’all should have swinged by my town Kalamazoo! It’s a historic little gem about 15 miles west of Battle Creek. The original Gibson guitar factory is in our downtown. It’s probably the most historic guitar ever made.
We are also home to Western Michigan University and several other higher education schools.
It is also mentioned in several songs. My favorite is Joe Strummer of The Clash Trash City. It’s just a fun word to say!

Most certainly is a man. I used to do anesthesia in Detroit for gender reassignment surg. We all said you can put lipstick on a pig, but at the end of the day it is still....
Every cell in his body contains XY chromosome (male)
You all should see what a mutilation job the genitals look like. They fool these poor people into believing they can look normal..sad. M to F maybe a little but F-M simply disfigurement.
