wonderful insightful documentary-Kinks are legends to my generation (I'm 64) and Ray is the best and most prolific of all the songwriters of this period. thank you for this--I entered puberty to the earthquake of "All Day and All of the Night" which will always be my favorite rock and roll song. I would agree with Ray that "Waterloo Sunset" is probably their most perfect recording' My favorite album is "Schoolboys in Disgrace" which has a great overall concept and a wonderful recorded sound with vocals and Dave's inspired guitar playing' i could talk about the Kinks for a long long time'!
McCartney and Lennon would only wish they could write as well as Ray. This gent has staying power. His music is just as relevant today as it was 55 years ago. It's not locked solely into one era.
Amen! It’s not that I don’t like the Beatles, but lyrically, a lot of their music hasn’t stood the test of time like Ray’s has. Just Saying, I like the Kinks more!
@@docsavage8640 I mean I'm not going to watch all the way through some video I watched 7 years ago right now but flicking through it Weller's name isn't there.
"No one has that edge that Dave has...it's brilliant." -- Ray Davies

Ray is so clear here and not giving us BS, as he is sometimes prone to.

I love how they're interviewing awesome people who have been inspired and their names aren't even on because we all know Weller and Bowie ect.
