Yay you're back! I know what you mean about blocking yourself from starting things, I struggle with that a lot. I find that setting a timer for 5 minutes and doing the thing (even reading for fun) for just those 5 minutes can really help get over that initial friction. I struggle with focusing so that's made a big difference for me. I also started taking iTalki lessons in French a few times a week and I'm really glad I did. My teacher is excellent and I've learned more in a month than I had in the years I struggled with self-studying. And I began those dictation exercises on TV5 Monde that you showed in your past videos! This month I want to get over my fear of speaking French and just jump in with having conversations, and I also want to finish reading Le Maitre des Illusions.
I’ve heard that tip but I can’t even be bothered to start the timer 💀 I’ll try it again though, I really need to focus 🤞 I’m glad you’re making progress now with your French lessons. I’ve been hesitating about taking iTalki lesson for a while but I think I will finally take the jump next month. I really want (and need) to improve my speaking skills in French but I can count the number of people with whom I’ve had a conversation in French on one hand 😅. I don’t want my speaking to lag too far behind everything else though. I hope you’ve been finding TV5MONDE useful. I’ve almost done all of the dictations and I definitely think they have helped in my spelling and listening skills. Good luck with your goals!
@@polynotte I'm the same way 😂 The timer thing helps when I do remember to do it (or have the will to do it) but half the time I genuinely forget and just sort of sit there. If you do jump into iTalki, I recommend the teacher Ichèm, he's really professional and fun to talk to. My speaking is lagging far behind everything at the moment so I need to really work on that. I took an online assessment and my reading comprehension is at a B1 level but my speaking is A1 💀
Thanks for the recommendation. Yeah, initially I wanted to do the DALF C1 exam because I was doing the reading and listening papers and found them pretty easy but I saw the speaking and writing sections and decided to step it down a level 😂 I don’t even think I’m at a B1 level but we’ll just have to work on it.
@@polynotte it could be better i fell off😭. But im working on it seriously now. I have a test coming up in September. Hopefully, I’ll score a B1. (B2 would be lovely too).
I'm happy to see your video again, your channel and insta are really inspiring 🥺
Thank you so much! It means a lot ❤️❤️
