if they're foggy underneath halfway up like where the natural nail bed would be you don't need to etch them as they're pre-etched for you. you can also pre etch with primer on the under side of the nail just where your nail bed goes...since the drill might be too hard on that length. but yes dehydrator primer & a base gel to protect your natural nails all help with the adhesion process. also careful as the nails are soft gel they may shrink in the lamp
As someone who does nails, most times, in my experience, the pre etch isn’t enough to cling onto the nail and last more than a couple days. ;( so he did good
i bit my nails from the age of like 6 to 22, im now 24 and it’s the best habit i ever broke. having long pretty painted nails feels so much more like me, i love it.
I stopped biting my nails too. Unfortunately, because of all the housework I do, my nails don’t ever stay beautiful for very long. It’ll take me a month to get decent looking nails and then in one day, 4 will break. 🥲But I continue to cut them instead of biting just to keep on top of the habit.
I’ve been biting my nails my entire life and I’m 35. I stopped when I discovered dashing diva nail stickers and then that motivated me to try the gel x system. Seeing how beautiful my nails were when I stopped biting them and having fun learning to do my own nail enhancements and designs changed my life 😂😂.
Yess boo! Licensed Nail tech here to answer your question 😂 if the underneath is already prepped (you can buy like that) they will be matte on the side that you attach to your nail plate. If they aren’t prepped (like the ones you had) you do want to efile the inside with something like a sanding band aka arbor band or a diamond bit, just enough to remove the shine and give it some roughness so the gel holds. Gel doesn’t like to stick to shiny surfaces. I hope this helps and if you’re ever in Orlando I’d loveeee to slay your nails ❤
I have a question,,,there's aren't ANY nail tech schools near me at all! Could I do online schooling/courses that provide certifications and then do my licensing exam???
Doing nails came so naturally for me..I love doing them just for fun on my mom, stepmom, granny and sister!! Definitely a money saver and an amazing hobby
Might I suggest you can actually use any top coat for gel x nails! The needle glue recently started having issues with contact dermatitis and allergic reactions, modelones I absolutely suggest and love, and love the nails!!❤❤
Would luv a full how to video…. I just recently started to play with poly gel and I work with a lot of boxes and heavy items an I feel there more durable then gel x
girl I'm a Momma of 3...to ² babies 3 & 20 mths(plus my almost 17 yr old). but my kids are brutes & always playing rough plus I'm starting out after leaving my husband (abuser)single sahm so I do everything by myself. my gel x nails stay on. like these babies lassssttttt lol.
a couple of my favorite youtubers: www.youtube.com/@NailCareerEducation and www.youtube.com/@KirstyMeakin . Both are nail educators. Their advice on multi mediums is outstanding. I do hard gel and poly gel. these lady's taught me. I taught myself how to do acrylics 40 years ago.
If you get a gel x kit there’s specific instructions on there. Plus there’s millions of RUclips videos. That’s where I learned and I’ve been doing gel x on myself for 2 years now 🤩 after being a nail receptionist
@@djb2975yeah lol I was about to say, I wouldn’t want to be TAUGHT by someone who’s only done it 2 times 😳😂 but a beginner video of him doing his nails would be awesome. I like Susie and Kirsty too. Also Liz at Nail Hub, she’s a gel expert who is super informative. And Young Nails 😂
Yesss I do my own nails too and with every try we will get better 😇 if you want to practice on your nails a lot check out the jello jello peel off base and remover. It makes removing so much easier even with gel x on! ☺️
GOOD FOR YOU PATRICK! I'm so impressed. I'm also so frickin happy to see you using the "less expensive" brands. This video just made me so happy. Not to mention you did a WONDERFUL job! ❤
You know what would make you more obsessed? If you mixed your own nail/cuticle oils. When I started doing that it was *chef's kiss*. I got my recipe/how-to from simply nailogical
First, congrats! It’s so much better than the first time. Yes, etch (aka drill) the underside, even if they say they’re pre-etched still rough it up, because that uneven surface helps it adhere. Also prime & dehydrate to make them last longer. Young Nails Protein Bond is a great primer.
For people who say “why do u make it so simple?” As someone who’s a nail biter, I’ve always wanted a normal looking nails, so yeah it doesn’t have to have designs on it
Yes you etch (file) underneath the fake nail as well on your natural nail (but for natural nails is better a hand file than a drill) . The adhesion will grab better and last longer. Good job!
Last time you liked my comment and its so good to see, that you kept my comment about not overfiling in mind! This looks so much better and so good! :) Also: I am an ex-nailbiter too. And gel really helped me to stop my habit! Look at your cuticles, they're already so much better! 🥰
If you chew go for acrylic, but it is difficult. If you want to grow them naturally laminate them witj builder gel. But! It is sof if you can't stop chewing. Hard gel and solid gel can be better. Don't forget cuticul rose oil.❤
Adding any abrasion to a smooth surface will always make it adhere better. So def sand the inside where you’re gonna place it on your real nail. Nothing crazy, just enough to make the surface not smooth =)
Girl you make it look so simple 😭
Because it is
@@carinalandyn5185 not for everyone

@@Hello12887if u follow the instructions it will be easy as pie

Yess etch the underside just for insurance and also dehydrating and primer makes them last even longer
Some nails come pre-etched now it’s such a timesaver
I have always etched but never thought of adding primer- genius 🎉
Insurance?
@@Kaylan965lol like to make sure 😭

if u don’t have a dehydrating primer, you can use rubbing alcohol to rub the nail dust off of the tips and off your nails so that way they stay longer
