Great grab bag! The new livery on the U.P. locomotives looks great. The expansive flag on the previous iteration was frequently subject to discoloration.
This grab bag has a lot of good stuff in it, love that freight train with a lot of new engines, love the MARC 73 rebuilt locomotive & the CFAX SD70ACes along with the Westcoast Express engine
What I enjoyed about grab a bag, is Trains and wildlife. It put my mind at ease. Also, one thing to add about wildlife is our bear on the Revelstoke camera feed. I haven't seen it in a while. It's probably just waking up from a long winter!
0:38 four freshly repainted UP AC6000CWs. I'm not sure if they have undergone GE rebuilds too 0:58 CSX ET44AH, Vancouver West Coast Express F59PHi, MARC geep, and three CFAX SD70ACes. I'm not sure what CFAX is, but they already have some ex-BHP Iron Ore SD70ACes 5:18 this truck has a much bigger load, and did not snag on the crossing 5:53 NS towing Amtrak into Roanoke 7:00 the same MARC geep again 7:34 Amtrak 161 "arrow" going through Ashland 7:50 a well car and covered hopper being switched by an SD70MAC and GEVO 9:00 UP OCS of 10 cars 10:07 asphalting a crossing surface instead of using concrete panels 12:24 car crash just offscreen at Revelstoke. Nissan Juke ran a red light 14:42 Amtrak 187 with Big Game Train sticker with Aberdeen Carolina & Western dome car on the rear 15:30 the ex-Amtrak baggage car on the other end of the tail DPU. These baggage cars were rebuilt from old sleeper cars 15:48 WOW! Quebec, north Shore, and Labroador SD40-2. That railroad is isolated from the rest of the North American rail network 16:10 Tex-Mex railroad boxcar 16:22 Amtrak 164 is now the Phase IV heritage unit! I find it odd they applied this livery to a different locomotive and having 184 return to Phase V 17:00 Savannah Bananas bus! I didn't know about then util recently, but they're the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball 18:26 the West coast Express F59PHi again 18:42 CSX f40s trailing on a freight train with their twelve business cars on the rear. They form an OCS in Waycross in the next clip. 20:54 Loram grinder working at night in the West Bottoms of Kansas City 22:18 doubleheading executive MACs on a local train 22:38 Amtrak 634 is also wrapped for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. 638 and 653 also received this wrap.
Looks to have gone for a rebuilding/overhaul at the Progress Rail facility just north of Waycross. If unit was mechanically sound for operation and met current rail transport requirements movement in freight service relatively no more involved than any standard rail car, or locomotive.
18:38 Dead heading back to their base in Waycross, GA. If OCS not occupied for trip home or in no rush why waste fuel and crew when the consist can hitch a ride on a freight going in that direction?
How do the engineers and conductors become aware of the camera locations? Watching this channel? Word of mouth? In any case, I think it's great for VR they're recognizing just how popular the channel has become thanks to all the members! And if you aren't yet a member - JOIN !!
If you are referring to 0:58 those appear to be fresh rebuilds/overhauls from the Progress Rail facility just north of Waycross and are now on their way back to their home operations (the MARC 73 returning to Maryland Area Rail Commuter operation).
I'm confused about Amtrak 164 -- P42 shown at 16:23. When I google images for Amtrak 164, it shows it having phase V livery. So how is this in 2023 and its back to phase IV? There are no special markings to suggest its has been repainted as a heritage unit. Also still has the early nose (not bolted on).
184 was put back into Phase V for something, with 164 being the eventual replacement, the scheme was first spotted on 51 - The Cardinal, on May 8th. It’s on 6 at the big 10 curve at 18:49 MDT
The 5-6 cars in the middle have rail grinders on the underside. The front and back have tanks to spray water so sparks don't trigger fires (though sometimes it still happens)
Looks like a fresh rebuild/overhaul from the Progress Rail shop just north of Waycross and now is apparently heading back home to the Maryland Area Rail Commuter operation.
Possibly to "air out" the locomotive. I've heard stories from BNSF crews here on the Thayer Subdivision that have had, let's just say, a rather unpleasant experience when riding certain locomotives, if you get my drift.
Back in '96 my wife and I went to Sault St. Marie to ride the Agawa Canyon train. I was stopped at a red traffic light with no cross taffic and people behind me started honking their horns and then gave me the finger as they drove around me through the red light. I have had zero respect for mush-head canuck drivers since.

I read that too
glad I got a pic of those when I did

6944 and 6943 on the same consist and in order, that is awesome.

0:58 I have many questions. first of all, HOW did that west coast express locomotive end up all the way in GA from Vancouver, BC

The first kinda looked like it was also a "rolling stop" at best.
Only the third bus made the proper stop.

15:31 I remember seeing this a few days ago on the La Plata cam.
Wildlife on parade at La Plata! I think that deer wanted Bob to buy it a Coke! Was that the same fox from the other night?😮🦊
The MARC 73 engine. Wasn’t that the engine involved in the 1996 Silver Spring, Maryland wreck with Amtrak?
That was before my time riding MARC. I just read the Wiki page about this. Yikes.
It wasn’t on the head end as it was coming from Brunswick to Washington, cab car was leading therefore 73 was in the rear.
@@normalchaos4618, yes, I was aware that it was in the tail end of the train.
