With me and my helper we average $750-$900 per day in 7-9 hours. Do that Monday-Thursday and leave Friday open for rain makeup or shrub trimming, mulch, etc.
That’s how we roll too. I try to do a 4/10 work week for mowing with Friday for catching up or other things such as hedges etc.. average $400-$700 a day.
First of all, I just wanted to say that I started watching your VLOG's last year and it pushed me to start my own Lawn Care business. I currently work full time as an Asst. Shift Supervisor for a 911 Center, but I have days off during the week (looking to go full time in lawn care). With that being said, I am a 1 man team and can knock out 7-9 in a day. But, they are spaced out with driving time, ranging from 15 minutes to an hour. The one that is an hour away is in a high end neighborhood, and I'm working on getting more yards in that neighborhood. Since I got a late start advertising, I don't have very many clients. But on my mowing days, I'm averaging $300 a day. Which is way more than I was making at my part-time jobs in a month.
Ferris z3x full suspension, articulating front end that never scalps, 37HP for thick grass, vanguard oil system (500 hr changes), 11 gallon fuel tank directly on rear tires for hills, big tires, wide base, 2 stage PTO and great quality! Best mower on the planet...Making us a killing right now🙌🏼
Outstanding video Brian..... Boy do I love simple videos like this... I enjoy you talking and explaining what you are doing and you mowing grass...... so relaxing..... it makes me sleepy😁😁😁😁 you are awesome ... keep it coming please....
I started learning from this dude this past winter. It was my first year plowing and learned so much. This is my second season mowing and once again.. learning a ton. Thanks Brian!
Good video bro so I’m just a one man team I can do about 6 to 9 a day but all I have is a push mower right now but I charge about 45 or more for the yards I make 200 to 400 a day not great but it’s a lot more than what I was making at my delivery job also I just started my business last jun when I started this season I only had 9 clients now two month later I have 42 so it growing
My initial goal mowing with my old S series was 18 lawns a day solo, that was usually $400 something. We do that still but just double since it’s a 2 man team. That’s still a solid amount for a solo guy tho! And I agree, way better than most folks in terms of what they earn in a week, or day, ha! Keep up the hustle!
Yeah man get you a riding lawn mower it will change your whole world very worth the investment even if you just start out with a cheapo consumer-grade type 1 just make sure you don't hit anything in Bend the deck and you'll be fine...
I typically walk with about. 200 to 250 a day and work Saturdays so I typically end up with like 1,200 a week anyways just thought I'd share I am also a one-man crew tried hiring a guy to do two men and it went great but I think I burnt him out in half a day
jaybrown29 yeah that killed me as well lol. But I’ve certainly made my share of bad turn arounds over the years as well. I’m sure the fact that it was a new mower to him also affected things.
Hey Brian, unless someone else came up with this already, I've come up with the meaning of the name Staris. While watching this video it hit me: Standing Tall And Riding In Style! Definitely the new mower for me; it's fast, cuts great, and never gouges or scalps the lawn like my conventional lawn tractor will.
We mow 5-7 lawns Monday thru Friday starting at 5pm after work and school usually working to 8/8:30. Saturday we mow 10-15 more depending on how the week went. Once school is out we try to stick to Monday-Thursday. Most of our lawns are $35-45. After school evening mowing revenue goal is $200 for 3 hours of mowing and Saturday goal is $500-650.
I shoot for $1/minute based on minutes worked per yard. I look at it in minutes in order to cover all my costs Like driving between yards, etc... I am shooting for my net pay to equal .50/minute. Currently, my yard average is $48. And, my hourly average is right at $50/hour before costs. I do quite a bit of push mower work and that adds time and lowers my hourly rate. Too many fences with narrow gates! Plus I don't currently own a stand on or walk behind. I work alone 2 days a week cutting grass and contracting work the rest of the time. I.m working hard to increase my yard accounts in order to improve my equipment and yard spacing. Currently they are spread out east to west 25 miles. So, there is a lot of room to fill in. :^) And, mowing is something I don't need employee's for. Unlike a lot of contracting work. I recently quit a 21 year career in Forestry to start this mowing business and get back into contracting work. And, I love it. I just need more yards. So, I can buy mower's better suited to skinny gate openings. Which will dramatically improve my efficiency and ability to turn those push yards into 25 minute-$45 yards. Just got to be patient as the yards I have is not enough to justify the debt of buying them currently. I intend to mow 60 yards a week. Should be doable in this terrain if I can get the right yards to cut out dead driving time. BTW, I love the channel
Soooooo HAPPY for you bud. You gotz the mowing man's dream route. Stacked on top of each other, and so few fences!!!! I'm so jealous in a good way for you!!! That's how you make dat money!!!! drop dat gate and don't move da truck until at least 4 or 5 are mowed... Boom Shacka Lacka!!!! Git,git, git it done!!! Until the next one, Dirty Jersey out!!!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance Better late than never, slowly but surely I hope you get all the houses in there!!! That would be pure 🔥🔥🔥. Then you could possibly have a second crew to work on just specific HOA's!!! Hope all is well bud!!!
Paused within 10 seconds of watching for a comment. Being from the south, it blows my mind you are wearing a hoodie and a jacket while cutting with the grass that green. Continuing watching now😄
For mowing we hit $900-$1300 per day just depends on what time of the season it is. We make a little less in the spring time when double cutting lawns and a little more in the summer and fall when growth starts slowing down. Even at those daily revenues sometimes I wonder if the mowing is worth it. On small landscaping jobs we produce higher revenue than the mowing days with less hustling and running around all day. I simply enjoy the mow hustle so that is why I keep doing it.
Great video, Brian! Nice seeing the Staris in action and it leaves some nice stripes! Handy for blowing off too #gamechanger! Hopefully the rain will take a looong break and the nice weather can come rolling in.
30 yards a day, that's great. Next season will be my first season and I'm hoping to start with 30 clients a month for the first season. Keep up the great work bud 👍
I can't believe you get that much done in one day with only 2 guys. I struggle to get 6-7 done in 8 hours. I might average $200-$300 a day. If I do 10-11 a day, to make up lawns after rain delays, I might be out from 9 to 8 with maybe an hour break for food. I might average one yard per hour give or take 10 min. I know there is an inefficiency somewhere but I am not sure where.
@@BriansLawnMaintenance I was told by a guy, who has helped me start my mowing business, that I should be averaging $30 per hour. He has had probably 30+ years of mowing experience so you would think those are pretty accurate numbers (for my area) if they are coming from him. I figured up my average in a 40 hour week to be around $34 per hour. I would say most of my yards are roughly the size of your yards. I have one yard that pays me over $100 but other than that 90% of them are between $30 and $60. I currently have around 34 yards a week. When I trim I go around every edge including sidewalks. I could maybe save some time by skipping some of the sidewalk and driveway edges but I wouldn't want to reduce my quality.
Some of the numbers on here are impressive if accurate... I live in a very rural area so route density is hard. Lots of travel time. I’m solo so I try to average $55-$60 an hour. Some days I come up short but then couple days I average about $80 an hour so it pretty much balances itself out
Hey bro stand on is the way to go we do it here in FL all day on roadways try blowing off the sidewalk with blower behind you opposed to trying to blow off in front you'll see it works way more efficiently nice mower
I like to have a 4 man crew I know it’s more then 2 but in south Texas with the heat it’s a beating to be running with two. On average my lawns are $40 which require a lot of push mowers. Competition is getting bigger so I include trimming hedges in my service but for us 4 I can knock out about 5 houses an hour. Always aim for 25 those days and their is some that pay more then 40 so I can say I make more then 1k a day but I do have a big over head cost with employees but I don’t come out exhausted every day
We do $800-$1000 a day avg around $100 hr. That’s mowing, and travel time. My goal is $1000 a day. Pretty close right now. The shorter days, I put odd jobs on, so I can get that $1000. Nice video as always Brian✌️
Your absolutely right on revenue per day because nothing is the same when it comes to lawns. I have 2 friends who operate legit companies and he and I make a comfortable living while the other guy is mowing twice as much and can't seem to make ends meet with his average of 20-22.00 lawns.
I feel it’s about equal to my Z, for a handful of factors. I’d love to weigh in on that. I’m hoping to have a 25 hour first review / impressions on the unit next week. Thanks Johnny 💪
What do you do about dog cap in the yard while your mowing. Do you charge an additional amount for you having to waste your time cleaning your equipment before leaving? Curious on what everyone thinks or does.
Our two man team will bring in 750-950 per day averaging anywhere between 17-23 lawns per day. When we do our two commercial complexes we will bring in a third guy and our revenue will go up too about $2300 for the 11 hour day.
With me and my brother we get about $900-$1000 per day in 8-9 hours. Me and my brother do it Monday-Thursday and leave Friday and Saturday and maybe Sunday if I am very behind but I try not to work on Sunday, open for makeup day, mulch landscaping or fertilizing!
Hi brian its a pleasure to meet you i was curious what you thought about mowing in texas compared to nc where do you think a company is most likely to succeed... just curious on your thoughts i currently live in nc but ive been thinking a out moving to texas to start mt lawn care company i finally got all my tools im just trying to figure where i should started it
Hey it's Bryan from Andrews&Brown landscaping&Reno we do the full time Monday to Thursday lawns hoping to put up some RUclips videos just sending out a shoutout to u guys love your videos keep working hard
Must still be chilly up there. Healthy Fescue growing 3 freaking inches a week down here south of STL and been raining every other day for two weeks. Not sure I’ll ever get caught up. We all know we’ll be in a draught in 2 months so what can ya do. Thanks for the videos!
Phattygoodness same boat here, rain and more rain, I’m in Ontario. I’m on heavy clay , farmers haven’t even started yet. Mowing times are long , but in 6 weeks it will be different. It’s tough business but I love ,,15 th season 50 years old . It’s all I know!! But I think this is the wettest , coldest spring so far!
This makes me wanna leave my nice country home and move to the city to pursue this line of work. Im over an hour from anything like this. People out here like cutting their grass lol
Running solo, 50in zero turn and a push mower that I carry in a trailer behind my zero turn. It's kinda funny but I can't drive yet so I just ride my rig around the neighborhood. Usually, I shoot for $100 a day. I could certainly charge more but its not bad for a 15-year-old. Any tips on how to get even more customers? I'm at about 25 a week and I've already hung door-hangers around the neighborhood this season. I'm itching for more. I can easily do 10 in a day but I simply don't have enough customers to do that even though I want to.
Did 10.5 yards in 5 hours with a new guy. Solo that would have been a 8 to 9 hour day but I expected that. Good to know I could fit more mores if I have someone come with me. Gives me chance to schedule side jobs to make bigger profit margin. Especially tree trimming and small tree removal.
as wet as it has been it looks like no issue with rutting the lawn? i want to get a 32 or 36 for back gate access and folks tell me to be careful due to the weight of the mower.
It really depends on your area if you can mow 10 houses in one area and no fences like this 25 should be easily done my area we don't have places and suburbs like this so we travel nearly every yard not all I so have few its close no loading just sounds corner
Cool way to knock out lawns. I like the stand on mower. I have a question from a previous video. Which model Stihl string trimmer and speed feed head do you recommend? My wife and I are finally going to get one for our property. Thank you for the videos.
Seems like the trees leafing out is slow this year in your area. Is that true or is it just that I've been too long down in Florida and forget what spring is like?
Watch out for those “ wormburners” in the grass. 4:24 - 4:26. If you can you should just cut all the way to the neighbors driveway. It will save you from the wormburners in the lawn. Hopefully the neighbors won’t care it’s only a few extra feet. It just depends on the neighbor. I know it’s early in the season but do you cut in the same direction every time or do you switch it up every cut? Keep up the good work. Love the videos. Makes me wish I still had my lawn company...Sometimes.
Brian, a question I've been meaning to ask you for a while: When you added the dumperdogg, did you notice a change in MPG? Just been curious for a while about that
Hey Brian! Nice video. What ear protection are you using in this video. I mow for a prison for 7hrs straight and the cheap rural king headphones I am using are hot and are not good quality.
Hey buddy, thanks! We use the IsoTunesPro, they’re dope. They’re an affiliate partner of ours, but they’re all I’ve worn for the last 2 years, I like them. Brians10 saves $10. Thanks for the support if you pick them up!
I beleve it your lawns are smaller in your neck of the woods 5 strips is a ft yard I wish! I've done the 4 10s for 3 years now it's the best way for rain days man! And extra time to trim bushes or whatever
I’d much prefer the Exmark support and build quality. Those other brands make good units too. I don’t believe you could make a “bad” choice with those brands listed (including Ferris).
We just did a photo shoot for IsoTunes. They are in the same city as me...Carmel, IN! Emilie Fry told me she knows you! How cool is that? Hope to catch up soon boss
@@BriansLawnMaintenance Oh wow!! ok, good to know bud. My Vantage is only a year old, and once I saw the Staris I figured out why Exmark was discounting the Vanatages!!! Oh well still have a great mower either way!!! Go Team Exmark!!!
2 man crew, sometimes 3 man crew. Two guys on two 52 Stand ons and one trimming or one guy on 52 and two trimming. Goal is to make $750 per day profit after paying my guys. Once I have my winter savings saved up, I just coast the rest of the year. I aim to have 15,000 stashed away for winter to cover expenses. Starting in September I pay all my bills in advance until April so I can take the winter off and travel 🌴☀️ you can’t beat a lawn and landscapers schedule! If you hustle, we can be snow birds and go south all winter
They’re both pretty dope but I’d still prefer my Exmarks. I feel they stand behind their machines more and I feel like the UltraCut deck is where it’s at. But the TT2 was still a solid mower, she was a tank too.
This week we did mow the same pattern on that lawn. This was the best angle to set the camera up to record so you could see the stripes, ha! Hence that utility box 🤷♂️💪
With 2 guys not completely killing our selves I can do $450 to $550 a day. But I don't have many yards real close together. Many small yards close together is where you can make big money quick.
Well we happened to have the Stihl today. I don’t think we put as much thought into it as you assume lol. Whatever just gets us moving and done, we use.

Hi brian its a pleasure to meet you i was curious what you thought about mowing in texas compared to nc where do you think a company is most likely to succeed... just curious on your thoughts i currently live in nc but ive been thinking a out moving to texas to start mt lawn care company i finally got all my tools im just trying to figure where i should started it
I haven't mowed in TX but lots of folks do!
You pull a trailer behind your zero turn? that's sick dude lol wicked hustle
I love my kubotas stand on 52
My employee and I can do 18-20 after school starting at 12:30. Make about $850-$1000
That’s awesome
It really depends on your area if you can mow 10 houses in one area and no fences like this 25 should be easily done my area we don't have places and suburbs like this so we travel nearly every yard not all I so have few its close no loading just sounds corner
Cool way to knock out lawns. I like the stand on mower. I have a question from a previous video. Which model Stihl string trimmer and speed feed head do you recommend? My wife and I are finally going to get one for our property. Thank you for the videos.
We use the ECHO 2620’s. They’re definitely more for the contractor, but if you bought one for your home, it would arguably last you forever lol.
Like to see more of that new laser you got with the new red tech compared to ur old red tech mower. Thanks
3 guy crew. But we have a lot of 32 inch mower back yards. Monday and tuesday landscape. Wednesday - Friday cut about 30 a day. 750~1000
Seems like the trees leafing out is slow this year in your area. Is that true or is it just that I've been too long down in Florida and forget what spring is like?
It’s definitely a cold late spring for us.. things are just starting to bud and bloom
What are you doing now?
Great video brian. Keep up the fantastic work
Peep the turn and burn on the second line from the sidewalk
Such a rookie
Brian, a question I've been meaning to ask you for a while:
When you added the dumperdogg, did you notice a change in MPG? Just been curious for a while about that
I’m sure it went down a tad, it does weigh 800lbs. But I honestly don’t even look or measure that, sorry.
@@BriansLawnMaintenance I just wanted to know if you noticed a major change in MPG, that's all
Ok thanks
thanks for the review
Hey Brian!
How many mower break downs have you had with your exmarks overall?
Very few.. we did a review on the Z just a few weeks ago check it out!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance ok thanks
I beleve it your lawns are smaller in your neck of the woods 5 strips is a ft yard I wish!
I've done the 4 10s for 3 years now it's the best way for rain days man! And extra time to trim bushes or whatever
So how are you likeing the staris vs. The scag, and wright. Im torn!!! Trying to decide!
I’d much prefer the Exmark support and build quality. Those other brands make good units too. I don’t believe you could make a “bad” choice with those brands listed (including Ferris).
Got a question for you. What's your thoughts on Bad Boy Mowers??
Haven’t used them much, yet!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance I build them and that's what I'm going to be using on my lawn care.
I like staris we might be getting the truf tracer
I have a Turf Tracer and a Deere QuikTrak (Wright Stander X painted green). Both are amazing and would buy again in a heartbeat.
We just did a photo shoot for IsoTunes. They are in the same city as me...Carmel, IN! Emilie Fry told me she knows you! How cool is that? Hope to catch up soon boss
They’re good people! Congrats man
In your opinion, is it better than a Vantage, or only (upgrade) when it's time for a new stander?? Just curious to see if it's better than a Vantage…
It’s definitely improved from the Vantage. Totally redesigned, couldn’t even compare it
@@BriansLawnMaintenance Oh wow!! ok, good to know bud. My Vantage is only a year old, and once I saw the Staris I figured out why Exmark was discounting the Vanatages!!! Oh well still have a great mower either way!!! Go Team Exmark!!!
Yet if you got the right mowing equipment for the job your doing
Nice strips
4:24 well we know it can turf burn 🤦♀️
Brian, Would you recommend a Staris 52 S Series over a Vantage 52 S Series? (based on comfort, ease of use, etc...)
Most guys love the Staris but I think you can’t go wrong with either
what do lawn care guys do in the winter?
Snow.
Man at 425 you turfed up that turn around......happens to the best
I had 18 Friday had to work saturday too cause of rain but we got them done
2 man crew, sometimes 3 man crew. Two guys on two 52 Stand ons and one trimming or one guy on 52 and two trimming. Goal is to make $750 per day profit after paying my guys. Once I have my winter savings saved up, I just coast the rest of the year. I aim to have 15,000 stashed away for winter to cover expenses. Starting in September I pay all my bills in advance until April so I can take the winter off and travel 🌴☀️ you can’t beat a lawn and landscapers schedule! If you hustle, we can be snow birds and go south all winter
I also subtract $50-$75 a day for gas and wear and tear! Just to be extra safe!
Nice kinda sounds like the exmarkr radius
Me by myself mowing 9-10 hours I do 600$-700$ a day. With a helper I would say 800$ or so.
With a 2 man crew our goal is 10-15 lawns a day or $700 it just depends on the week
hey brian great video , $50 per man hour is my goal per customer !!!
Which mower is better in your testing TT2 with 37 efi or exmark laser z x with red tech big block
They’re both pretty dope but I’d still prefer my Exmarks. I feel they stand behind their machines more and I feel like the UltraCut deck is where it’s at. But the TT2 was still a solid mower, she was a tank too.
I see the stripes arnt changed. Switch it up! It keeps the lawn health an looking good an give it different defined looks each week
This week we did mow the same pattern on that lawn. This was the best angle to set the camera up to record so you could see the stripes, ha! Hence that utility box 🤷♂️💪
@@BriansLawnMaintenance right on man i finally just met keith man an talk to him i wanna meet you next im in your area all the time bro
We are at 2 days of mowing 3 days of landscapes etc
King Haynes same man
Nice work
We cut commercial at 28.00-33.00 man per hour
Nice video!
Lol dam wait on that staris ugh ,,,, I'm over this sitting down all day ,,,
does the staris scalp a lot?
With 2 guys not completely killing our selves I can do $450 to $550 a day. But I don't have many yards real close together. Many small yards close together is where you can make big money quick.
That’s still really good pal
Great vid man!
So what about solo revenue? Take off 50%?
2 man crew should be able to do $850.00 to $1,000.00 per 8 hour day.
Does the exmark ocd get in the way with the accelerator bagger attaching and functioning?
Yeah. I’d have to take the OCD off to use it. Little inconvenient for sure
@@BriansLawnMaintenance thankyou for the reply! Love the channel you are a huge motivation!
why not use the redmax blowers for now until the fall
We use all of them
Brian's Lawn Maintenance I know but just stick with the Redmax blowers
Well we happened to have the Stihl today. I don’t think we put as much thought into it as you assume lol. Whatever just gets us moving and done, we use.
Nice 👍
I feel like someone is slowly switching over to a sthil fan 🤣😂👍🏻👍🏻
Lol
Hey Man, I absolutely love your channel and you have really inspired me to be in the landscape and lawn care business also by the way it's really awesome that you service my mom's area I think I first noticed in one of your videos you were driving down Wixom Road and passed the Wendy's on the right hand side and I was like OMG. I currently run a lawn care and landscaping business in Tampa Bay Florida area call Ray'Z Up lawn care and property maintenance. It was kind of dope I was in town visiting for Mother's Day today May 12th and seen your truck drive by and was like OMG there goes Brian. Anyways just stopping by to show you some love and appreciation keep up the good work and I'll be seeing your videos around man. Hopefully one day when my business gets bigger we can meet up chit chat see what the differences are between Michigan and Florida. #RUNation
Hey buddy that’s awesome! You’re another link that we do exist! Ha!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance Forsure, you and Keith has really help me lay the ground work for a successful lawn care & landscaping business. Actually looking for a pick up in the area while I'm here to take back to florida to use as my work truxk!
hi brian i used ur equiment defender code on surecan and bracket. hope u been watching my videos as I enjoy ur videos. ok thanks
Thanks for the support buddy! #brians10
How come you don’t use a mulching deck?
We don’t really mulch grass in this region..
With those mowers. How many gallons a day do you average ? Thx
This machine is .8-1gph usually. We fill it up daily. I can definitely say the Kawi goes thru more fuel then a Kohler EFI
What lawn mower blades do you use or recommend?
We just use the Oregon high lift blades
How often do you have to sharpen them
Change directions every week. Wayyy better for the lawn and those exmarks are so heavy. Walker all the way.
Yup 💪
