    Meet a legend: Breen LeBoeuf
A great sit down with this legendary musician and singer.
Presented by Marcel Vaillancourt and Concerts La Nuit sur l’étang.
Breen LeBoeuf grew up in North Bay and made his musical ‘’bones’’ in Toronto in the 1970s. A casual encounter changed the course of his musical, personal and professional lives: it was in a Toronto bar, the Piccadilly Tube, that he met Gerry Boulet and Johnny Gravel. Offenbach had found itself a gig in the Queen City. A brotherhood was established from the start. A few months later Gerry invited Breen to Montreal. All it took was a nod from Gerry to Johnny Gravel (men of few words) and Breen was now a member of Offenbach with his North Bay friend John McGale from 1977 to 1985. These were amazing years for this iconic group in Québec, France, and French Canada with six studio albums and two live albums.
Breen continued his collaboration with Gerry, among others, for his album Rendez-vous doux which sold 400,000 copies. Sadly, Gerry died of cancer at age 44 on July 18, 1990 - Breen’s birthday. He lost a great friend and collaborator.
From the beginning of the 90s, Breen LeBoeuf lived the life of a “rock star”, receiving five nominations for the 1991 Félix Awards (Quebec’s version of the Grammies) with his album De ville en aventure. Two other albums followed: L’âme nue in 1994 and J’avance in 2000.
After Offenbach, he continued with a full career touring with Céline Dion and Martin Deschamps, among others. He created the Buzz Band with John McGale and Jerry Mercer from April Wine. He joined forces with another iconic Canadian rock band, April Wine (led by Myles Goodwin), with whom he toured in Canada, the United States and Europe from 2007 to 2011.
Last year, it he was the hit at the 50th anniversary of La Nuit sur l’étang. He had already played at the event in the 90s at the height of his personal fame. At the great demand of the public, Breen is back at the Nuit sur l'étang in an exclusive show entitled Artistik-Akoustik-Électrik: the multiple facets of Breen LeBoeuf under the musical direction of Dan Bédard.
We invite you to this interview between Breen LeBoeuf and Marcel Vaillancourt.
