Liz is more like the reverse of Alica, shes trying to be a good person but is failing badly, much like Alica is trying to be a villian but failing badly.
This episode proves my theory about Liz's power: Her "Saintly influence" is governed by her emotions, and it turns anyone who sympathizes with her into an extension of her magical emotions/emotional magic. Like a queen ant/bee. Case in point, Jane, the one who worshipped Liz the most and by the same token hates Alicia the most became the "channel" through which Liz's magical emotions towards Alicia explode (after she realizes Ali-Ali pulled her... lets call Duke "naturally occurring partner"). If Alicia's actions towards Jane at the end of the episode make Liz's influence on her break and she reacts like Gill (blank stare, wondering what happened... as if there was a blank in his memories that spawn the time frame while he was under Liz's spell) oh boy. Now we will have to wait to see what Alicia's No. 1 fan found in those ancient texts about the Saint and what will Liz do next. Damn! I love these kinds of tales! I want a Season 2 so bad!
I think the reason Liz negative emotions are affecting others so badly is probably due to her own inability to deal with them. If you think about it, if she has lived her entire life with everyone following her and just being yes men. She surely doesn't know how to deal with things like jealousy or frustration.
Well, considering that world is based on a game or a novel, her character being the "chosen pure saint" was already programmed her to never felt any negative emotion, may it be sadness, anger, jealousy, frustration and even guilt (as seen during Alicia being kidnapped). So her being able to feel any negative emotion is an anomaly causing her magic/influence to went haywire. So the system is transferring those "negative emotions" into her followers.
I actually did think I was about to see someone get stabbed with scissors ngl. I also find it so cute everyone is giving her the nickname of “their little villainess”. They’re doting in her while she’s “trying” to be one and its adorable
I think you said the right word: *tragic.* Everything about this situation is just tragic. Liz didn't plot any schemes or nothing, she was deeply hurt that the man she loved looked at her like scum and she just tried to keep that pain to herself. *But those emotions spilled out and affected brunette girl!* Brunette girl herself, she probably didn't even want to start no shit at all, she was just enjoying her day, enjoying her life, *when suddenly she gets invaded by all this negativity and this pushes her to give in to her worst impulses!* Bullying silver haired girl, attacking her with scissors, going full Higurashi psycho... only for that to later pass off and now she's left dealing with getting bullied for her actions, but those were actions she normally wouldn't have done in the first place. *And nobody has any way to realize any of this is going on!* Some of them notice that _something_ is strange, but then people like prince Duke assume that Liz is a secret manipulative b*tch trying to brainwash people around her, when that's not the case at all! Hopefully, Mel's discovery will shed some light on Liz's aura and how it works, possibly dissolving the misunderstanding that she's doing all this on purpose and finding a way to prevent more people from getting affected that badly again.
Gives me an idea of Star Wars wherein if you have a weak mind, you get influenced in the path of the dark side. 😂🤣😂🤣 Have you noticed that those that come into close contact with Liz, they get manipulated? But to be far away from her vicinity, doesn't?
Two things about the scissors scene. 1:that sociopath commited an assault in the middle of a crowd and nobody tried to stop her? I mean, I know she seemed unhinged, but just calling for a professor or security would have helped. That’s why we say that harassement is a triangle toxic relationship, not only the victim and the bully. The witnesses play a big role by how they react to the bullying. 2: How come that sociopath hasn’t been expelled? In our world, in any developped country, assault with a sharp weapon is a serious thing.
@@MedusaLegend Since almost everybody of them are nobles my guess is they can't do that to her because of her parents position. And that wouldn't be far from real world. On the other hand such thing isn't done immediately and maybe she gets punished for that otherwise.
Pretty much all her actions have stemmed from receiving all of Liz's negative thoughts/emotions. I don't believe she's a total sociopath. For some reason, she seems to have become the receptacle for all the bad mojo that Liz is emanating whenever she gets upset. Jane seems to have become the one who is affected the most by Liz's negative emanations. Now she's a little confused because Liz's followers are rejecting her and Alicia is being nice to her. Add on the fact that she is still under the influence of the negative mojo from Liz, you can't blame her for crying.
@@elgenetiamzon1062 As unlikely as it may seem, Jane is at the end of the day just another victim of circumstance. Even if she had those thoughts deep down, she'd probably never act on them on their own. *But she's being influenced to impulsively go for them by some phenomena she isn't even aware is affecting her.* And it's like a seizure, the victim wakes up from it not realizing what had happened! _Then suddenly, Jane has just gone and done something so horrible that nearly everyone now hates her for it and she has no idea WHY she did what she did._ Good thing Alicia came to tell her it was okay to cry, because girl needed to let that anguish out!
The more Liz' negative feelings grow like jealousy, the more it affects brutally some peoples around her... She only want to do good things, understand and help peoples, yet this power is restrain her to do so 😔 Alicia defending Carole and her face up Jane by her own will was an incredible moment! As always our MC, Duke and Mel' moments are interesting and funny to watch 👀😂 I wonder what she discovers in that book at the end 🤔 I also really like how Gill stand up by himself and got help by Duke when Liz' power was brainwashing him 👌🏻
@@deandredukes95 A very common plotpoint for Villainess Isekai tbh. What's different in here is the Saint is unaware that she is turning into a malignant force. (Well, even Hidden boss lvl 99 already did that.)
At this point, I do believe that the prince is aware that Liz's skill is something like "Charm" given how he snapped Gill out of his hypnotic state. To think that things would do so much of a 180 at the academy that many of the female students are copying Alicia's hairstyle.
Duke is apperantly not affected by Liz's "aura", or at least is the most resistant to it besides Alicia. But I think he might be misunderstanding Liz and believing she's doing this on purpose. Like Brandon said, he looked at her like scum. _(it's tragic how he too is an unknowning participant in kickstarting a lot of these situations as much as Liz herself)_
Well… that’s a ticking time bomb. More Liz bottles up her emotions, oh boy is it gonna blow and you can’t blame her for bottling it up because she’s never encountered situations like this until now, jealousy and anger, sadness, she’s gonna keep going until it all blows and all because she doesn’t know how to deal with them. As for the one girl who keeps getting the short end of the stick (mainly because of her own actions) I bet she’s gonna become a good friend in the end, simply because we kept coming back to her and Alicia finally got through to her. As for the one girl who’s taking after Alicia i think that’s cool that she admires Alicia and that is starting to spread. Didn’t expect it to divide the school though…. 😅
The worst part is unlike a lot of spoiled kids who get a reality check too late in life and are just awful people she actively wants to do good and whatever she does she is met with hostility. It's tragic
I loved this episode but I have to say seeing Gill seemly lose his free will while talking to Liz alone was scary. As his eyes went lifeless and all, which is messed up in a way how Liz control people even if she does not realize it. And while Liz is a pretty tragic figure trying to connect with people like Duke and Alicia but keep getting pushed away. Is sad so it’s understandable why she would feel so bad. But who that also is a tragic person is Jane. As when Liz is having those negative feelings Jane always acts on them. Meaning that she commits bad things which ruin her reputation and life in the school. Getting throw out of her friend group then being bullied one. As the other girls take out their anger that Jane is responsible for damaging Liz reputation and making people question her. And because Jane is so depressed she just let them throw dirt at her as they insult her. Which is just so sad to watch and make me feel just as bad for her as I feel for Liz. But let’s talk about the MVP this episode Alicia. As I love how she did support Carol by saying she should stand up for herself. As well as cutting her own hair to be similar to Carol’s now shorter hair. Which is such a genuine kind thing to do. But I do agree with Duke Alicia looks so cute now, and I would also hug her like Mel if I could🥰
I feel the scene with Gill was semi-intentional. She was not consciously using the ability as much as she was "turning on the charm" so to speak. Though she is still unaware of the power she has.
I think her intention was just to win over Gill to learn more from him. Maybe befriend him so that through him, he could befriend Alicia. _Or get closer to Duke, that could be too._ But she fails to notice is how uncharacteristic people suddenly start acting once she speaks to them for too long. And you can't blame her, if she was born with that goddamn "aura", she would have grown used to her good will winning people over and things working out, not realizing how unatural that situation really is.
Upon further reflection, I think i missread her intent. She wasn't being aggressive with ill intent. That's Liz in desperation. She's in panic mode. She has loosing her grip on people. All the normal classmates are loosing their minds. Liz knew 8f she could get Gill that Alicia and Duke would follow. The only 3 people left who seem to be sane.
Honestly, this show keeps being a blast each week. The main thing I'm worried is that the showmakers'll try and wrap everything up in 2 episodes when there's plenty of content for an S2. Otherwise, Duke's growing on me each episode and this episode really shows us he's gotten better when it comes to Alicia. Props to him for saving Gill from Liz's involuntary brainwashing. Sucks to be Liz because she's surrounded by brainwashed simps that are going haywire because she's not conscious that she has brainwashing powers and the only people who can help her don't talk to her. She's definitely not having a good time and I'm pretty sure that she didn't show up in the latter part of the episode because she was trying to process her emotions surrounding Duke.
They don't talk to her because they can see right through her. Liz seems like a symbol of those social groups in high school, the trendsetter ( popular group ), wherein everything about them is just for show on the surface but no one is really aware of their intent or purpose. She is a facade (like what Alicia interpreted as a "Goody Two-Shoes) who is unrealistic and looks through life in rose colored glasses. And I think Liz is aware she can manipulate people which is why she told Gill as she tried to corner him alone that at first, she also got bullied in school because she came from a poor background till they changed their mind about her. So, I do think she is aware that she has the power to control people's minds.
Yes. Ambushing Gill was a very manipulative behavior knowing she could control his behavior, this is a deeply rooted selfish behavior. Remember what Alicia said in the previous episode, she knew Liz had the power to subjugate both Alicia and that kidnapper and yet she only used her power to control Alicia giving the robber the opportunity to kill Alicia, and yet Liz still behaves like a goody two-shoes. It reminds me of some main characters in some anime wherein the heroine often behaves like they can always save other people and yet act stupidly to endanger themselves so that the hero can also be given the opportunity to save the heroine. It is such a cliche.
In a normal situation that is what you do anyway. You just want to talk to that one person, not the crowd. I think Liz just want to talk privately, there is nothing wrong with it. It is just that when Liz starts "preaching" that is when she tends to influence people.
It's interesting that 2 of the main characters, the blond kid and the one with green hair are unaffected by her charisma. They don't actively antagonize her, but they don't fall in line either. They act more like a buffer between the two. They also seem to realize something isn't right but either can't or don't care to dig deeper
Before I watch this...Seeing how that scissors scene was changed. Adjusts the context so much...I understand why, it doesn't make me happy that they removed Alicia defending herself from the girl charging HER with said scissors and knee striking the armed girl in the gut. The anime scene adaptation lacked...the punch? anyways back to watching. will edit later. edit: may have gotten it mixed up...XD not sure I'll have to go back and read the manga.
Maybe this is how things happened in the Light Novel? Remember, mangas are also adaptations of the LNs, and as adaptations, mangas themselves sometimes change a few things. Quite a few anime these past few years adapt directly from the LN, rather than from the manga.
This is going to sound weird, but it's Liz is getting like the Michael Douglass "Falling Down" treatment, I'm almost waiting for the "what? I'm the villain?" moment at the end of the story. Though I am really curious what the discovery was at the end and how it might still turn the story on it's head. I do agree with you, that I don't believe she's remotely conscious of her effect on people.
The question is how did Liz gain this power. Alica assumes Liz gets her way because that is the way the game works. However Liz's power is more than that. Liz does ask Alica in an earlier epoxide if she should be evil and Alica tells her to be good, so i think there is more to this than Liz doing what she does without knowing what she is doing. I suspect the answer will be in the ancient spell texts.
I feel like the story is exploring the idea of the bad that misplaced idealism can cause. Liz is very naive and idealistic. Been spoiled because of her status as Saint. Basically people without sufficient willpower to resist become unintentional extensions of herself. So any thoughts or feelings she has gets broadcast and acted on. The idea behind it is obvious. It would help rally people, especially against a truly powerful and horrifying enemy. If the user was aware of it and able to consciously control it. But what happens when the user is unaware of it and doesn't know to discipline their own thoughts and feelings? What harm can they do? Who can even stand in the way of that unintentional tidal wave of harm and identify the problem?
I will say, minus the game points. Liz, for all her life is put on the pedestal. She was born with the rare rose, that made her the saint. So since she was born, she was, at least to the people, Supposed to do great things. Sure it also a good way for a game MC to be look at, but there at least some real world reason too, and I like that.
You also gotta remember, ever since she was born, her "aura" probably made her SO EASILY befriend everyone and everything around her, to the point that she got used to dissolving issues with just her talk and never realized how unnatural and unsettling that is. And because people like Alicia and Duke assume it's done on purpose, they never explain anything to her, so she has no way to figure it out on her own!
Honestly Liz really is just sad. 😔 like tragically. She’s so naive but she really wants to believe in the best for people. She doesn’t want people hurt but she’s unintentionally hurting others with her careless words. She’s a genius prodigy in magic, but doesn’t realize how privileged she is that she is also outside of normal people. Things that were so easy for her turn out are not necessarily in her control and she’s just childish with her thinking. Like because the legend says she will marry the person the blue rose blooms for doesn’t mean that her partner will love her. Duke has been kind of an ass to her don’t get me wrong he’s bad for doing that instead of telling Liz from the beginning the things he likes or hates. And telling her that he only wants to be friends. And the fact that Liz seems to completely fantasize that she and Duke are to be together without actually asking duke how he feels is also immature. Liz is really a tragic character right now
Alicia is nearing a mental breakdown... and it's going to be disaster for everybody - a disaster that a villainess named Liz is going to have to fix. What this show handles so well is the role reversals - because not necessarily Alicia herself, but her followers definitely resemble villains a lot more than Liz's followers do.
_I think you got Alicia and Liz's names swapped up._ ¬¬' Alicia is out protagonist, the wannabe Villainess. Liz is the Saint, the unknowingly brainwasher of the school. Liz is the one on the verge of a mental breakdown and Alicia is the one who's gonna have to fix her up.
It has a competitor. The Dark History Of The Reincarnated Villainess has an anime coming out eventually. Exactly when is still up in the air, but still. I do recommend those who like this show pick up that manga. And thankfully I haven’t noticed any Chris Hansen level age gaps in it. That said it does get a lot darker than this series. The general mostly spoiler free summary for it is that in the main character’s youth she was obsessed with getting reincarnated in another world to the point where she wrote her own bad fanfiction level original story. It had a flawless self insert, a harem of boys for her, as well as a black and white morality system. Years go by, she grows out of that phase, pushes the memories of it to the back of her mind, and becomes a salarywoman only for her to get a visit from our dear old friend Truck-kun. As a result she ends up reincarnated as her self insert’s evil little sister shortly before said little sister’s scripted death. All of those terrible things said character did prior? Still happened and there are characters that outright hate her for it.
Well for real if you enjoy this story, that it's amazing, look for a Manga called I’m Not a Villainess!! Just Because I Can Control Darkness Doesn’t Mean I’m a Bad Person!, that manga also has an amazing twist on the Villaness archetype, and deserved an anime since the manga was very popular, sadly either the author or someone on he's family got hit really hard by covid and was forced to end the story, but it's worthy of reading, also the Holy Grail of Eris is another great manga with an excelent twist on the Villaness cliche.
man they change it so much from manga it is got really bad real quick. i hate anime version. even though i enjoy reading this chapter in manga. in anime they pretty much blame every thing on liz and made elicia act a bit of goody two shoe which really ruin it and animation really drop in this episode

The anime scene adaptation lacked...the punch? anyways back to watching. will edit later. edit: may have gotten it mixed up...XD not sure I'll have to go back and read the manga.
The scene in the Manga is amazing and the whole context is different
@@joseluisaltamirano5941 agreed. Glad I wasn't misremembering. Its been a couple of weeks since I read it.
Maybe this is how things happened in the Light Novel?
Remember, mangas are also adaptations of the LNs, and as adaptations, mangas themselves sometimes change a few things. Quite a few anime these past few years adapt directly from the LN, rather than from the manga.
@@MrDibara maybe. That is a fair point. I like both the anime and the manga.
My favorite episode so far
The game world won't allow Liz to feel negative emotions which is why her emotions are transferred to her followers
That is an interesting approach. I never even thought it that way.
I’m glad there’s two more episodes of this because out of all the villainess reincarnated isekai animes I’ve seen, this one is the most painful😫
@@purplecatangel1379 do you know if there will be a season 2?
@ no and hope there won’t be😤
I feel like the story is exploring the idea of the bad that misplaced idealism can cause.
I do feel The Saint might be aware that she can control the masses.
Like seriously I am sure she has out 2 & 2 together by now.
This one was really good!
after all these incidents, how is scissor girl still not thrown out of school? 😅
_I think you got Alicia and Liz's names swapped up._ ¬¬'
Alicia is out protagonist, the wannabe Villainess.
Is the manga the same title as the film?
@@atozot09 Yes the still in development anime, light novel, and manga all have the same names.
Villainess Bob Gang. 💇♀️
honestly.I thought she was eventually going to stab Alice.Or stab the girl in eye
Whoa there! Almost made a big mistake watching this, not even seen the ep yet, be right back after 24 mins.
With Alicia being the Saint, Liz will be the Villainess.
I think Duke has been releasing people from Liz’s spell (whatever it is).
I bet Blondie and Green-hair were the first two he accidentally freed.
Do you mean the 2 guys? If so, they never did get influenced by Liz. They are staying neutral so far, just observing instead of participating.
I really hate the TBC aka Cliffhanger Titan. The story just gets better and better, but then they cut it off at the best part! Finale is going to hurt
So Liz is Miquella?
based Duke
Orb?😢
man they change it so much from manga it is got really bad real quick. i hate anime version. even though i enjoy reading this chapter in manga. in anime they pretty much blame every thing on liz and made elicia act a bit of goody two shoe which really ruin it and animation really drop in this episode
The manga isn't the source lol
@AHBrandonReviews it might not be the source but it still did it in better way
