Anyone who says they saw that ending coming is a damn dirty liar xD See my full uncut live reactions to the episodes over on Patreon www.patreon.com/BrandonReviews
I have to agree. The ending is a cannon event from the source material, but due to how they've done the last couple of episodes I was genuinely expecting an anime only ending, and so was not expecting the start of this arc to be covered next episode, even if it is the next arc to occur in the source material. I can't imagine they'd get though the entire arc (don't remember the exact length of the arc but pretty sure it was over a hundred chapters) in one episode, so I'm guessing it will leave at a good point for a season 2, but they could just really rush the arc, or still do an anime only ending, so looking forward to seeing which path they go with it.
@@sarahbaker1176 I _REALLY_ hope they are teasing for the continuation and completion of this next arc on an upcoming Season 2! Assuming they already acquired the rights to go ahead with a Season 2, of course.
Note to self: If you're dealing with an emotionally unstable person with the power to unintentionally brainwash people, don't hand them books that could give them even stranger powers without thinking 😅
_That... ain't what the book is at all?_ 🤨 It's a book chronicling the powers Saint has, or more specifically, her rarely mentioned Charm spell. I would think if that book contained any other spell that the Saint could use, Mel would've picked up on it and reported it to Duke and the others.
just to throw this out here: Duke tells Liz "no, even if I met you first, I'd still love Alicia". And now, very possibly, he remembers Liz and is (to his memories) meeting Alicia first, testing that proposition.
I really liked it when Liz dropped the Saint act and showed her true personality. The vibe of "I ain't time for boys. Imma go study and save the world my own way" is such a mood and I love it. I hope she can make genuine friends in the future and thrive as a Alicia's rival.
Liz probably unlocked a new spell in that book. It looked like book moved when liz took it in her hands. She has better control of her powers now. All her power is directed towards duke.
This is just a speculation, but what if episode 13 goes as similar to episode 12 of I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss? I mean, similar situation with Duke and Claude, right?
My theory : Alicia to Liz: Focus on yourself and what YOU want. Liz: becomes the true Villainess and learns from the book how to let Duke forget all about Alicia
One thing that I noticed in the scene where Liz learns about her charm magic is that while she was holding the book, its physical condition improved. This is complete speculation, but I am wondering if some of Liz's magic also affects time. Eh, it's not likely cause it was probably something closer to "healing" the damaged book. But I wonder if that same power could have an affect on Duke's memories.
Dammit that ending caught me off guard because this entire episode I felt bad for Liz given how clear it's become that her charming everyone wasn't even her fault and the end when she picked herself back up I was ready to forgive how much I had disliked her throughout the entire story, but that ending with the Duke giving his own "Who is Rem" to Alicia has made me suspicious again 😂😂 I haven't read the novel so idk what's going on and I assume this probably isn't Liz's fault and maybe something to do with someone else, maybe a cliffhanger coming in the end but I can't help but feel suspicious all over again towards Liz 😂
It's only my personal theory as well, _but remember the Kingdom of Laval? _*_The same one that sent that Wolf to probe on Liz?_* My theory is there's an agent of theirs infiltrated in the academy, to try and destabalize our MC's country _(I think it was called Durkis, though I'm not sure)_ by messing with their crown prince's mind and framing it as the Saint's doing. Again, pretty baseless theory on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised if they ended with an insinuation of Liz being behind the brainwashing (due to her taking that book with her), only to turn out it was a red herring stirred up by someone else.
My first thought was the King's mother had something to do with it switch up at the end but im going with the fact that the village is being reopened someone is trying to hide the polution of the village
To me they’ll really played it like Liz did something because before they gave her the book she was saying she didn’t know how to be a saint or understood her powers but then bam they give her essentially an instruction manual about the saint powers with who knows what else it contained besides the charm power explanation. Also in the meeting scene there a second where they flash the saints flower wilting a petal after duke told Liz he loved Alicia could be seen as Liz wilting away too and the dialogue’s before it Liz: if I’d met you before Alicia did would you have loved me ? Duke: I still would love Alicia Bam how to get duke we’ll just erase that love so it never existed.
Whoohoo! I nailed most (emphasis on "most") of the details about Liz's power... Except the flower thing. The moment that golden flower lost a petal... I recall, way back around the first episodes, Duke also had a Beauty n' the Beast Magic Rose (a blue one). And after they announced the Saint's existence the king and co. showed that golden rose that "represents the Saint". I tell ya, those roses are likely the "world system" Brandon is talking about. 'Cause there's no way that didn't have something to do with Duke's totally out of left field "who are you". Is it the world, a god, or just an unthinking game system? Don't know, as The Critical Drinker says. But that really made me so damn hyped for ep 13 and salty we have to wait another week to see what happens. I love it! After 30 years of fantasy reading/watching/playing, I love when a story can blind-side me like this! I'm gonna spend this next week wondering what happened and how is Alicia going to solve it. And she better! Duke is the perfect match for her, the way he keeps her on her toes in the same fashion as this show does to us.
I was gobsmacked when duke said “who are you?” Because I thought he was gonna give Alicia space until she made a decision about his feelings. I need answers rn
For what I seen LIZ took that book to master her powers and deep inside she wanted duke. She either wipe his memory or was able to brain wash him to her liking
All I can say at this stage is that the show is cooking for something. I really hope we get an S2 announcement because I'm already thinking that it's not Liz but something else. My personal theory is that the kingdom that they keep mentioning, Laval, is up to something all this time and that they did some magic fuckery against Duke. It just happened to take place right as they wrap up Liz's arc. The magic fuckery will probably force Alicia and Liz to team up, protect their kingdom and free Duke with Liz using her powers and Alicia becoming the brains of the operation.
I mean before taking the book she did say he was too charming to give up which indicates that she'll keep pursuing him/ not give up/ still has feelings. In other words the book was coincidentally the perfect solution for her problem.
I saw your title and walked in the episode expecting some drama like oh they cant talk to Liz for an episode or they have to fight a whole school of zombie students who glaze Liz 🤣🤣🤣 and the episode was excellent and then they had the audacity to do that in the last 2 seconds 😅 Did they expect any of us to handle that cliffhanger calmly? Ever since episode 6/7 they've been slowly world building and building up this whole thing with Liz and how her powers work and I was afraid there would be no pay off but I was wrong. I thought about it and the brilliance of this show is the idea of how these characters would act in-game vs forcing them to be real people. That theme has always been there with Liz and honestly I was expecting Liz to crash out even more than she did maybe she has and its affecting Duke. This theme applies to all the characters making it alot more logical that Charm magic is involved. The idea of the game vs real life really hit me when Alicia was talking about Duke and how she's familiar with all the lines he'd use to talk to the heroine. I think Duke when he's with Alicia at times acts how the game expects him to act and then there are other times where he has these genuine stand out moments which feel alot more natural and less like how his character is expected to act in the game. It could just be that his behaviour is meant to be creepy or hilarious as well but I really like the different take on the villainess story than the usual lets try not to be executed or exiled.
I tend to agree as there is another plot arc which has not been explored yet, which is Laval. We know you can only go to Laval is you are exiled, so perhaps the queen mother was exiled to Laval and is plotting against her former homeland. The Saint could represent a threat to Laval that has also been raised, so perhaps the rulers of Laval are using the Queen mother. The wolves from Laval have been mentioned twice, if not more and we do not have a conclusion where they came from and who put them their. My feeling is episode 13 is setting up season 2, with Alicia deciding she needs to go to Laval, who knows she may even get exiled to Laval.
I belive Duke's father might erase his memories cause when he noticed Will's eye he seems concerned. Edit: After not too much thinking I do belive Duke's father did erased his memories cause in the beginning of the anime there's prophecy about the gold and blue rose being together for the betterment of the kingdom, Duke being the blue rose and Saint being the golden rose. I believe Duke told his dad that he confessed his feelings towards Alicia and thats where his dad erased his memories.
This episode got me. I rode with it, made me think it was a nice drive with many of the plot points getting their resolution and then bam. Car crash, and amnesia.
Plot twist, now the roles really are swapped and this is Liz's villain arc because after gaining the book she intentionally erased the Duke's memories of Alicia to try and make him fall in love with her. After all she never retracted her statement that she hates Alicia or that she'd given up on wanting the Duke despite knowing he only liked Alicia. 👀 Liz officially turning into this story's Rachel? 😅
This show felt like a big mystery story to me? Is Liz secretly manipulating everything or is her Saint powers running amuck trying to get the world back on the Otome game track? Well we got our answers and what does our villainess do? Gets all Doki Doki with the prince, while the heroine has the key to fully use her powers for her own purposes. Letting Liz walk off with that book was Alicia’s first and biggest L all season.
I started watching you when you were reviewing Baka-rina’s show! Never played an Otome game till after watching some of these, but I am the target audience, too.
There is obviously absolutely no connection, but it is a hell of a coincidence that we had two shows in the same week pull the episode ending on "who are you?" between budding romantic partners. The other one being Ranms 1/2. As an old school anime watcher I know exactly what is going on in Ranma. But I honestly have no clue in this show. Part of me wants to come up with a 4th alternative, but I'm drawing a blank for any other possibilities beyond the three that you listed.
Given that the book contains some explanation about the Saint's charm ability, I'm almost certain the book has to mention the story about the Saint uniting with the royal family to save the world/kindom. Given Liz has for sure read or at least skimmed over the book, there are four possible outcomes for Liz upon gaining this information about her and the royal family. There are two factors (a. intentional / not intentional and b. actions taken to unite with the royal family / no such actions) that when multiplied together, create 4 different possibilities for Liz: 1. Actions taken intentionally 2. Actions taking place unintentionally 3. No actions taken intentionally 4. No actions taken unintentionally (ruled out, doesn't make sense) Given the high probabilities that 1. The book explains the Saint & royal family connection 2. Liz gained this information, we must analyze how the different outcomes from Liz finding this information out relates to the other predictions we have, namely a. Game logic or Mom did something ---- Hypothetical scenario: Given Liz found out the info AND Game logic or Mom did something, THEN outcome 3 must be true upon Liz finding out: 3. No actions taken intentionally. ---- Given that the main characters' love triangle is such a major plot point I think it is unlikely that a factor outside the main characters (game logic or mom, or anything else) would suddenly play so heavily this love triangle. AND based on the same premise I think outcome 3 upon Liz finding out is less likely. This leaves us in favor of options 1 and 2 upon Liz finding out. 1. Liz takes action intentionally 2. Liz does something unintentionally Both are fun and valid. In option 2 we could extend /delay the resolution of Liz's unintentionality for one more episode instead of having it seemingly resolved in this episode and tie the arc somewhat neatly together at the end of the season. Also in this option I think Liz's character remains more consistent on the points that Liz truly wishes to connect with Ali and is honest in her communications, and on the point that Liz is unintentionally creating adverse effects. I also think this scenario is more along the same vibes that the show had been thus far (wholesome resolutions) Also possible that the book controlled Liz in some capacity going along with the game logic thread. In option 1 where Liz intentionally takes action, yes it would be very exiting but it would almost certainly feel rushed if Liz's villain arc would be resolved within 1 episode thereby necessetating at least a S2 for Liz's villain arc and possibly onwards where Liz is just villainous. This scenario seemingly creates more future writing spice potential for the story although I have no doubts that the author is capable of maintaining and developing the level of writing of this story without villainous Liz. Villanous Liz would possibly be great for the story and imo it's the most ambitious choise for the author. The golden flower petal falling off is seemingly a more potent plot point in this scenario. This scenario isn't a far fetch since the love triangle dynamics are sufficient to develop in this direction. Liz's consistency would take a hit for sure in this scenario but of course those hits can be justified in some ways. I think the story thus far has been an introduction only, the two possible main matters "after" the introduction are 1. Villainous Liz and 2. Getting on with fulfilling the profecy's duties for the Saint with the additional help of Ali. I think Ali playing into the Saint's duties is what the show has been gunning for from the very beginning. Therefore leading me to believe villanous Liz is a less likely outcome with all things considered. Liz not having an effect on Duke's memory and instead it being a result of something external would feel like a bit of a cop out to avoid writing the spice in case where it was a result of Liz. Top predictions for Dukes memory loss: 1. A result of Liz, unintentional 2. A result of Liz, intentional 3. A result of smth external
There's also those sages who went to the neighbor rivaling country. The one Duke and Alicia wanted to visit. They could also have something to do with it
I think to understand is Liz was spoonfeed entire life. Everything has always been fine because every single person around her made sure it was so because they were charmed. Because of this, she missed a lot of character growth. She ran into only 2 people who ever became obstacle and that only just happened. Now that everyone realized what’s happening she’s not trying to charm them and they are now aware they are being charmed to resist it. Her world has just flipped on its head. Age often doesn’t matter. You wouldn’t take a 18 year adult who ever never even been in a pool and throw them into the ocean and say good luck to them would you? Liz was thrown into the ocean. Would be weird if she doesn’t do something desperate.
6:53 Unfortunately I’d say that about “Villainess who goes down in history”. And the reason is quite personal: If you make a main character who wants to be a villainess I expect a character who acts evil or at least somewhat maliciously and has fun doing so without being unsympathetic. I think (even though it’s not the same thing) “Taming the final boss” does what this anime tries to do better tbh. That’s why my favorite ways of telling a story with such a character: 1) have the villainess prioritize her own interests out of spite for how badly the original game character is written. Like Leilin in “Today the villainess has fun again”. 2) Split them into 2 characters: one good and naive, other confident and arrogant, like Connie and Scarlet in “The Holy Grail of Eris”. 3) Have the villainess need to act as a villainess in order to survive or deal with people who mistreat her, like Penelope in Villains are destined to die”.
At first I thought that this was the last episode until we got the cliffhanger in the very last scene. But I got to say I really loved this episode my favorite one so far of this show. And this show has been golden with how great it’s. I especially loved to see Liz and how she reacted during this episode. Like when they revealed to her that her whole life has been a lie. With people liking her because of her charm effect instead of genuinely liking her. And how they hint at that Liz has been ignoring those weird little thoughts as how people around might have behaved strangely. To then how Liz has felt so much pressure to appear like this perfect saint. Which has caused her lot of stress especially with how she has not been able to befriend Alicia or made Duke fall in love with her. As she love him with all of her heart. But Duke regret her love confession as his heart is set solely on Alicia. Alicia encourage Liz to be the saint that she wanna be rather than what Liz might think that the people wanna have. Then we also had that reunion with Will and the king. Which was wholesome and Duke confess to Alicia again which makes her blush so hard. And even does it so that she barely could sleep the night after. I really hope that the relationship between Duke and Alicia is able to be fixed. As they are just too adorable together🥰
yeah im torn if liz is the one behind it or not, on one hand i want to believe she wants to be good and just didnt realize what she was doing but on the otherhand now thats she does know whats stopping her from doing it intentionally?
Y'know... Your theory about the Queen Mother makes a whole lot of sense when you consider Grandpa Will reuniting with the King! I myself had a different culprit in mind: *the country of Laval.* Simply because, it was briefly an important topic how a Wolf native only to their lands had suddenly appeared and tried to "attack" Liz, the Saint of all people. Plus the constant insinuation that Laval is getting greedy with land-grab and is making moves that could harm Roroa village, *the reason why Alicia and co. wants to set the place free.* So in my mind, I'm thinking _"There's gotta be an infiltrated agent of theirs inside Durkis or something and that motherfiver is who targeted Prince Duke with a memory spell."_ But now that you mentioned the Queen Mother... and we have Grandpa Will returning to the capital... _and we know how much of a scumbag the Queen Mother was to him, which is something still left unresolved..._ *Damn, man! Why didn't I suspect her first?!* I mean, for crying out loud, we haven't even SEEN her yet this entire Season! Yet she IS a vital character, she's the whole reason Grandpa Will ended up in Roroa village and why the King feels melancholic sometimes! _("If my brother were here instead, he could've resolved this situation...")_ So the actual climax of this Season might be our wannabe-villainess Alicia going up against *a true, bonafine, irredeemable Villainess with a capital "V"* in the form of the Queen Mother! 🤯 Still, poor Liz! Girl just keeps getting caught in the crossfire! 😭 First, from her own powers, and now from the Queen Mother's bullshit!
This was never about the duties of Saint or duke! It was about her! She's nothing but delusional brat, it's her own fault "HER CHOICES"! she stole everyone's freedom.
Well, at least compared to the manga, this ep and even the previous one threw me for a hard loop. (can't find an English version of the novel for the life of me) There was a whole thing where Alicia starts investigating the wolves incident from when she was gone, but they just... skipped past it. Not only that, but even in THIS episode, she's actively investigating the enemy country, and that entire plotline is being sidelined because there might not even be a season 2 for all we know and they need to wrap things up. I have no idea how this is gonna end tbh. Could be time for a big dance party or something. other thoughts: 1. If duke's memories are gone, what about mel's? 2. that book kept morphing during the conversation... even the "golden rose" started wilting until the rose on the book cover turned into a flower that was yet to bloom, as if it "became" liz's book.
The twist of the prince losing his memory is consistent with the story I read. So the question I would have at this point is whether they leave the next episode on a great cliffhanger or try and wrap things up, diverging from the story I read. As for a cliffhanger, I could see several possibilities. One of which was hinted at in the beginning of the story. Granted, the story I read, the whole bit with the wolves is part of the tie-in for the next move in the story. A hint, a clue that got explained later in the story. However, one of the differences in the story I read versus such newer media is that some other details not revealed until later in what I read are actually hinted at much earlier in this version, perhaps making the clue of the wolves less relevant to move forward?
I think the mom and Liz conspired together. If I recall, the mother didn’t want the wealth gap to end. When Liz started thinking about the past and “what if” the book renewed itself. I think anything with nana can respond to Liz. So the book feeling her wanting to “redo/start over” made itself start over/brand new. The mom and Liz probably decided to erase Duke memories. So all the progress of roana and ending the wealth gap wouldn’t happen. And Liz would get a shot a Duke before meeting Alicia.
If it wasn't the final scene, it would be a final eps. Regarding Liz, the book glow up when she got it. Therefore could Liz turning evil or the system corrects the story, sth like villainess lvl99.
I saw it coming cause I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss did a similar thing for it's final stretch as well and these don't tend to just wrap up so nicely one episode before the end of season. My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! also had a last couple episode twist as well so I've come to expect some big twist.
So….. she definitely snapped… Yeah as I was watching I figured it wasn’t gonna go well, her whole world came crashing down and then her own “friends” were mad at her because of the charm, at that point she was all alone and all she had to lean on was Alicia and what she learned from her. Now that’s my personal guess especially when you add in that the rose had a petal drop and the book on the saint changed appearance but if this wasn’t Liz’s doing then i definitely think you’re right about the mother since we never saw where she went plus to add on, Laval. That laval place still has a hand in things and we haven’t seen why yet, so it could be we’re seeing the fruit of their agenda. Either way it’s gonna be bad, Liz backed into a corner and relying on all she’s learned from Alicia (who is technically the closest person to Liz because she’s always confronted her) or laval is finally enacting their plan and the mother of the king has something to do with it.
As soon as they confronted liz and handed her the book it was inevitable the duke twist came though i'm hoping that it is some third party shenanigans like a secret twin of duke or something.
at first okay looks like Alicia will grow up and change but then she decides to give into her emotions and use her powers for her own selfish reasons thus the saintes is turning into a villainess while the real villainess is an actual saint
The only thing that MAYBE could point to some malicious intent is Liz already knowing how to read the ancient language. Mel had to learn it to translate the book and Alicia learned just to cast that spell to transfer her eye, so I guess that's not impossible that she could learn too, but already knowing it is just weird.
I was totally feeling the same way about this one. I was so confused why this show was 13 episodes until those last few seconds. I originally read the manga for this one but this stuff is all new for me. I think last episode was about the cutoff for how far I had read. I have no idea how they're going to resolve this in one episode unless it's like an explicit "Hey we're just confirming season 2 here." My money is still on Liz being an evil bitch now, but the theory about the old Queen is not a bad one either (you're right, it's a bit odd they reminded everyone of that plot point just beforehand). In any case, real excited to see where this goes.
Liz is going for duke, on how he reacted towards alicia at the end of the episode I’m not surprised she had something to do with it, pretty stupid allowing her to take the book with her. If his mana is strong then he would not be affected by Liz’s charm, BUT she might have found another way, either he was caught or he was just pretending. Guess we’ll have to see what duke will do in the next episode 🤷🏻♀️
I think the book is a representation of the world plot/timeline. Alica's actions threw the plot waaay out of whack which is why the book was as damaged as it was. The book being fixed was a sign of the plot being forced back to the correct timeline.
This studio has animated several shoujos, every shoujo I've watched animated by them has had its ending changed from the manga and rushed so it fits the anime. I wonder if that'll happen for this anime too, I haven't read the manga.
I don't think it would be a good twist to have Liz mind wipe the Prince. The last scene with her works so well as someone who drops the facade but is still a good person, so decides to improve herself for her own satisfaction. I definitely think the mother might be the cause of this one. They brought up that plot thread right before hand. There's also something to think about, the King's mother was a commoner just like Liz. Perhaps Charm magic is unique to commoners, not just the Saintess.
Honestly… Couldn’t this whole thing have happened by episode 6? Then we could have actual conflict between the not villainess and the not saint for the whole second half of the season. Instead things will probably get resolved in 20 minutes.
Would Liz really abuse her powers just for the sake of getting Duke to love her? From how I see her character I don't think it's likely that she'd intentionally erase his memories. I think they've been implying that they're going to make the queen mother the big bad of the series. But it's probably her cronies doing this rather than her directly. I think only she would be brazen enough to erase Duke's memories. But there's still a chance that while practicing to control her magic, Liz accidentally erased Duke's memories. There's also the possibility that this is just another one of Duke's schemes in order to tease Alicia. Perhaps it's a way of trying to confirm Alicia's feelings for him.
know what's going to happen but I kinda wanna clear this up so I will leave some info that's quite obscure unless you rewatch the series below. This is kinda a spoiler without really saying anything about the actual plot but. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . There was a plot point that wasn't translated well between the novel to manga and the manga to the anime which is why it's not so clear what's going to happen next. All I will say is that it's going to be an amazing finally and hopefully season 2!!!i
At 1st I was like..."You really ended this season like that?? WTF is wrong with you?? *Pitchfork sharpening*" not realising there is 13th episode... My money is on the Otome world finally getting involved, bcs up untill now. only thing we know is that this is the world of otome game, but so far we didnt hear about events from that otome game exept seducing the prince and getting good ending that way. Also we dont know if Duke is the only one, if it hit the whole school or the whole world except few individuals. I dont think its the mother bcs while I think she could pose problems and she would be enemy. I dont see a reason why now Duke doesnt remember Alicia. When there is no indication of her and Alicia or even her and Duke interacting... This is work of either the Otome world, Liz or (please god no) someone still under charm. (That enemy kingdom is also candidate, but same problem as with the kings mother) Edit: It could also be THAT book bcs something happened to the book when Liz picked it up Also I still hate Liz, but its not bcs deserves it, but bcs of my personal experience so... I will hate the way she walks and talks even, if she dont deserve it and the trigger to this was actually the fact she didnt do any of this intentionally. I know its not her fault but thats why I hate her. I dont want anyone else to hate her, but it stinks when one feelings are not acknowledged. I probably wasnt clear enough bcs I feel like I am being called out for hating on Liz. While someone like her really showed up and really screw my life...
Goddamn....! After Liz' Saint special magic, Duke' confession to Alicia and Will reuniting with his lil bro.... The ending of this episode hit me like a train crashing on a bus 🤯 I think the theory that Duke' mom or a new spell' by Liz' theories are both very interesting 🤔👀 I hope the memory loss of Duke can be resolve and Alicia say out her feelings for him happen 🙏🏻
I don't think Liz had anything to do with what happened. Seemed like she completely gave up on Duke to be honest, like a weight was lifted off her shoulders. I put forward another option... grandpa will. Would be a kicker if his accusations were never false.
I think, the characters are being controlled. Like how in the Villianess level 99, the Saint was being controlled to kill Yumelia... since she was the villianess in the game.
well it was established liz wasnt a dummy. the fact she isnt the blank slate and an actually character is actually solid. liz might have reset the game.
As someone who has read the novel all I can say is that this villainess story is nothing I have ever encountered in the same genre... Because the longer I dive deep in further it feels more like mushoku tensei and I'm loving it. The characters are so human I did not expect like wth 😭
was this in the novel? I was reading the manga but left with the last chapter. I’m about to shift to novel now wonder which chapter is this in the novel
@@CarminaFlores16 yeah but has a lot of difference especially with the order of events, the novel is already far ahead than the manga, it feels more like an adventure now instead of just romance, and I didn't expect this villainess story to make me cry later as they went to another country so many things are happening 😭😭😭
@@Satella_witch_of_dreams found it and reading it as well, yeah I noticed the shuffle of event either way it was one hell of spectacle from the duke itself.😆
Idk Liz’s lack of reaction and completely new personality is kinda sketchy. From pretty much finding out her entire life was a lie to she has absolutely zero chance with the guy she love, it wouldn’t surprise me if she pulled a Freya and crashed out 😂
Anyone who says they saw that ending coming is a damn dirty liar xD See my full uncut live reactions to the episodes over on Patreon www.patreon.com/BrandonReviews
We had her doing stupid shit by accident, now she's learned how to do stupid shit *on purpose*.

What could possibly go wrong with that scenario? 🤔

Bro who’s rem?
just to throw this out here: Duke tells Liz "no, even if I met you first, I'd still love Alicia".
I noticed that too. I thought it was a glitch in the animation.
This is just a speculation, but what if episode 13 goes as similar to episode 12 of I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss? I mean, similar situation with Duke and Claude, right?
@@zam023 looked like she reversed time on the book/repaired it, the damage marks all fade away
my boy better remember or they better confirm season 2
All of this felt like things were steering in the right direction then boom, wide memory loss
My theory :
Alicia to Liz: Focus on yourself and what YOU want.
That's an interesting theory 👀
Yeah, that rose loosing a petal has to be connected
Did anyone notice when Liz was holding the book it looked like it withered a bit when she got upset..? It even made a magic draining sort of sound.
I hope they don’t do a cliffhanger. I’m glad I’m not the only one who calls that old show villainess “Bakarina”.👍
""You ruined my Christmas, dammit!" Man, He IS upset.
Let's get him a Historical Villainess doujin as a present.
_*_The same one that sent that Wolf to probe on Liz?_*
My theory is there's an agent of theirs infiltrated in the academy, to try and destabalize our MC's country _(I think it was called Durkis, though I'm not sure)_ by messing with their crown prince's mind and framing it as the Saint's doing.
Also in the meeting scene there a second where they flash the saints flower wilting a petal after duke told Liz he loved Alicia could be seen as Liz wilting away too and the dialogue’s before it
Liz: if I’d met you before Alicia did would you have loved me ?
Duke: I still would love Alicia
Bam how to get duke we’ll just erase that love so it never existed.
I wonder what will happen when all the petals fall off.
I feel like Alicia's tooth from episode 6 will be used to restore Duke's memories.
@@Michael-pe8gx Hmmm. That, detective, might be the case.
The question is how.
I was gobsmacked when duke said “who are you?” Because I thought he was gonna give Alicia space until she made a decision about his feelings. I need answers rn
when I saw that ending I immediately thought Liz must've been so jealous that she used some dangerous spell from that book
Also, unfortunately for Villainess shows, and romance stories in general... One of the leads getting their mind wiped is a tale as old as time.
She did it, she said "what if I had met you first"
For what I seen LIZ took that book to master her powers and deep inside she wanted duke.
Oh cool, now Liz can control her power.
Maybe Alicia was the naive one this time.
If I'm wrong I take it back😅 Queen mother is indeed another option.
Thanks
I think it Grandpa Will and Alicia’s eye he casted a forget me spell but it directly went for both
Plot twist, now the roles really are swapped and this is Liz's villain arc because after gaining the book she intentionally erased the Duke's memories of Alicia to try and make him fall in love with her.
The real Liz is better than the saint Liz since she no longer has to suppress her emotions she became more real instead of an ideal
i was so happy for them. And then there came the backstab...
There are two factors (a. intentional / not intentional and b. actions taken to unite with the royal family / no such actions) that when multiplied together, create 4 different possibilities for Liz:
1. Actions taken intentionally
2. Actions taking place unintentionally
3. No actions taken intentionally
4. No actions taken unintentionally (ruled out, doesn't make sense)
Given the high probabilities that 1. The book explains the Saint & royal family connection 2. Liz gained this information, we must analyze how the different outcomes from Liz finding this information out relates to the other predictions we have, namely
a. Game logic or Mom did something
----
Hypothetical scenario:
Given Liz found out the info AND Game logic or Mom did something, THEN outcome 3 must be true upon Liz finding out: 3. No actions taken intentionally.
----
Given that the main characters' love triangle is such a major plot point I think it is unlikely that a factor outside the main characters (game logic or mom, or anything else) would suddenly play so heavily this love triangle. AND based on the same premise I think outcome 3 upon Liz finding out is less likely.
This leaves us in favor of options 1 and 2 upon Liz finding out. 1. Liz takes action intentionally 2. Liz does something unintentionally
Both are fun and valid.
Top predictions for Dukes memory loss:
1. A result of Liz, unintentional
2. A result of Liz, intentional
3. A result of smth external
Liz’s obsession with the duke has me believing that Liz went dark.
I can't tell if liz did something after she got that book or something or someone else is behind what happened in the last scene
There's also those sages who went to the neighbor rivaling country. The one Duke and Alicia wanted to visit. They could also have something to do with it
If she caused those last 2 seconds... we need to get that song back out again...
Power corrupts; Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
What's more powerful than the power to manipulate the hearts and minds of people? 😈
Damn! They got me at the end!
That’s why my favorite ways of telling a story with such a character:
1) have the villainess prioritize her own interests out of spite for how badly the original game character is written.
I was like WHAT NOW???? >_<
I was all ready for wedding bells for Alicia and Duke.
Oh crap ,there is no conclusion like Fluffy Paradise... 1 episode left but no closure of it...
I am so pissed how quickly they ended thing about her charm spell and how much they cut off from the original story.
Plus the constant insinuation that Laval is getting greedy with land-grab and is making moves that could harm Roroa village, *the reason why Alicia and co. wants to set the place free.*
So in my mind, I'm thinking _"There's gotta be an infiltrated agent of theirs inside Durkis or something and that motherfiver is who targeted Prince Duke with a memory spell."_
But now that you mentioned the Queen Mother... and we have Grandpa Will returning to the capital... _and we know how much of a scumbag the Queen Mother was to him, which is something still left unresolved..._ *Damn, man! Why didn't I suspect her first?!*
I mean, for crying out loud, we haven't even SEEN her yet this entire Season! Yet she IS a vital character, she's the whole reason Grandpa Will ended up in Roroa village and why the King feels melancholic sometimes! _("If my brother were here instead, he could've resolved this situation...")_
So the actual climax of this Season might be our wannabe-villainess Alicia going up against *a true, bonafine, irredeemable Villainess with a capital "V"* in the form of the Queen Mother! 🤯
Still, poor Liz! Girl just keeps getting caught in the crossfire! 😭 First, from her own powers, and now from the Queen Mother's bullshit!
Noel saw that twist ending coming from a mile away.😅
I feel the same way. Ruined my Christmas. But I still love the show.
This was never about the duties of Saint or duke! It was about her! She's nothing but delusional brat, it's her own fault "HER CHOICES"! she stole everyone's freedom.
Well, at least compared to the manga, this ep and even the previous one threw me for a hard loop. (can't find an English version of the novel for the life of me)
There was a whole thing where Alicia starts investigating the wolves incident from when she was gone, but they just... skipped past it. Not only that, but even in THIS episode, she's actively investigating the enemy country, and that entire plotline is being sidelined because there might not even be a season 2 for all we know and they need to wrap things up.
I have no idea how this is gonna end tbh. Could be time for a big dance party or something.
other thoughts:
1. If duke's memories are gone, what about mel's?
2. that book kept morphing during the conversation... even the "golden rose" started wilting until the rose on the book cover turned into a flower that was yet to bloom, as if it "became" liz's book.
The English version of the novel comes out January or early Feb. 2025
This episode really threw me off. And if there is a season 2 then I wonder how they would adapt the wolf investigation
Honestly I have never trusted her, my surprise was the mind control was "unintentional", doing something evil in the end righted my ship.
If it wasn't the final scene, it would be a final eps. Regarding Liz, the book glow up when she got it. Therefore could Liz turning evil or the system corrects the story, sth like villainess lvl99.
That ending made me so angry. I need season 2. I need to know what happened
I'd recommend watching even the first 5 seconds of the video as you'd know the season isn't over
@AHBrandonReviews I don't check out the number of episodes as much as I did before. I don't have as much time now. I guess I should be happy
So who's Rem?
if you like villainess shows I recommend Tearmoon Teikoku Monogatari or Tearmoon Empire Story
So….. she definitely snapped…
Yeah as I was watching I figured it wasn’t gonna go well, her whole world came crashing down and then her own “friends” were mad at her because of the charm, at that point she was all alone and all she had to lean on was Alicia and what she learned from her.
She 100% did it
Does someone know where the episode stopped in the novel ? Id like to read it:((
I forgot but somewhere before 100?
this show is like a slightly more tolerable love and hip hop Hollywood because young idiots be walking into rooms just to find drama
As soon as they confronted liz and handed her the book it was inevitable the duke twist came though i'm hoping that it is some third party shenanigans like a secret twin of duke or something.
the HELL was that ending??? well - they hooked me for ep 13.
at first okay looks like Alicia will grow up and change but then she decides to give into her emotions and use her powers for her own selfish reasons thus the saintes is turning into a villainess while the real villainess is an actual saint
Seems the “Saint” found some love magic in that book of hers. I guess we know who the real villainess is in the show
I actually had compasionate over liz then she pulled this crap
Maybe the game world is intervening because events are straying from the games story line or narrative.
I have no idea how they're going to resolve this in one episode unless it's like an explicit "Hey we're just confirming season 2 here."
My money is still on Liz being an evil bitch now, but the theory about the old Queen is not a bad one either (you're right, it's a bit odd they reminded everyone of that plot point just beforehand).
I think Liz is going to brainwash everyone and Alicia is going to save the day.

There was a plot point that wasn't translated well between the novel to manga and the manga to the anime which is why it's not so clear what's going to happen next. All I will say is that it's going to be an amazing finally and hopefully season 2!!!i
duoble plot twist.. uncle Will really was the real bad guy thats why he was kicked out
I think she has been intentionally for a while. They have shown. her face during brief moments. I think she has known all along.
I still think Liz knows what she's doing and turned into a bad person.
i never saw it coming you see that my mind is too fast for eyes
im done in
By the time it's hit me my last surprise XD
(That enemy kingdom is also candidate, but same problem as with the kings mother)
Edit: It could also be THAT book bcs something happened to the book when Liz picked it up
Also I still hate Liz, but its not bcs deserves it, but bcs of my personal experience so...
For me, Liz is a soft version of Princess Renner (Overlord).
What was that ending?
So we’re back on the Liz hate train
And I fully believe it was Liz, she took the book who knows what other tricks she learned about her power
Liz is the best character and I don't hate her at all.
Goddamn....! After Liz' Saint special magic, Duke' confession to Alicia and Will reuniting with his lil bro....
The ending of this episode hit me like a train crashing on a bus 🤯
I think the theory that Duke' mom or a new spell' by Liz' theories are both very interesting 🤔👀
I hope the memory loss of Duke can be resolve and Alicia say out her feelings for him happen 🙏🏻
I don't think Liz had anything to do with what happened.
Seemed like she completely gave up on Duke to be honest, like a weight was lifted off her shoulders.
I put forward another option... grandpa will. Would be a kicker if his accusations were never false.
Indeed!
I think, the characters are being controlled. Like how in the Villianess level 99, the Saint was being controlled to kill Yumelia... since she was the villianess in the game.
Got me angry 😂
well it was established liz wasnt a dummy. the fact she isnt the blank slate and an actually character is actually solid. liz might have reset the game.
I loved the 2nd male lead later introduced in the novel more...Dunno why but Duke's just creepy in my opinion.
Too bad the 2nd lead will never get pick 😢
@@Satella_witch_of_dreams that' s the problem....TvT I don't get Alicia...what does she find captivating in duke?
But guys....who is Alicia? =D
Idk Liz’s lack of reaction and completely new personality is kinda sketchy. From pretty much finding out her entire life was a lie to she has absolutely zero chance with the guy she love, it wouldn’t surprise me if she pulled a Freya and crashed out 😂
She had an insane amount of reaction idk what you mean. She's had the most reactions this entire season
Dude i think you need to go read the lightnovel/ manga of this anime.
Am i wrong?
The light novel is the original
