- This week we visit Niue, an island nation in the southern pacific. It has crazy coastlines and not too many tourists, especially this time of year. The water is some of the clearest and bluest we've ever seen. Truly a beautiful place that should be on anyone's bucket list! The only way to get to Niue is through New Zealand. Currently, there's only one flight a week but typically in the peak season there's 2 flights a week.
Loving this Niue series! My grandma was born and raised there before moving to Samoa as an adult. She would tell me stories from the island when I was a kid and I just used my imagination to picture the island but never really watched videos or saw pictures of it. As a fan or you two you've given me the opportunity to see the island my grandma loved so thank you! RIP grandma Lela 😇

I have a vacation rental hack for dull knives. You can flip over a ceramic plate and use the unglazed ring on the bottom as a kind of whetstone.

Hello from New Zealand. You will have a warm welcome here but a lot of things, like your van, may take a while. Most of the North Island has been badly hit by Cyclone Gabrielle. It has caused 10-20 billion $NZ of damage. Roads, railways and bridges have been washed away in many places. Travel will be difficult in some places and impossible in others. Enjoy what you can but it may be many years before things are normal again. Just bad luck with your timing.

Lovely island to visit. We had 2 weeks which was great as the tide on the second week would have not allowed us to see as much had we just visited that week. So quiet and so many places you have to yourself. Loved it. Looks like they have improved some of the access to spots as it was difficult sometimes.

That huger open bathroom reminds me of the ones in Japan. Strange how when are use to having a great edge on an knife one that doesn't keep an edge drives you bonkers. Keep on keeping on with the adventures.
Please do kahawai fish dish when you guys come to New Zealand. I think it is the best fish for sashimi in NZ.

I'm sure you could shave with your knives. haha I'm also very particular about my knives. Curious if you do anything different. I'm sure it would be of great interest to many of your followers.
Hey Taku, I always wondered why you don't carry with you a cheap sharpening stone when you travel to locations where you can't pack your knives? Not ideal, but at least it might lessen the pain of using cheap knives that are really dull. It'll still be cheap knives that are kinda sorta a little sharp, but maybe less aggravating?

If you had a car around you can roll down the window and use the top of the glass like a ceramic stick sharpener. It will lick up a wicked edge.

use the bottom of a tea/coffee cup to sharpen the knife
