Shiloh, Georgia - Small Town USA! Is This How Ghost Towns Start?

- Shiloh, Georgia is or was small town USA. When I looked up the population I found differing numbers, but all stayed between 400 - 500.
Is this how ghost towns start? Well the downtown area seems completely closed. The population continues at a low rate, but a steady one I suppose. So can it be considered a ghost town that the town itself is empty while there is an ongoing population. According to Wikipedia, yes.
Like all the Small Town USA places we go to, it is full of history. When the train ran through, this town was probably prosperous, but the train is gone! What does the future hold?

Thank you for posting this tour! My grandfather was born there in the 1910s but migrated north when he was a young teenager. It's very neat to see this town and imagine what a shock it would have been for him to go from living there to living in Detroit!
We are so glad you found this video. The difference between Shiloh and Detroit was and probably is still worlds apart! Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed the tour, Tammy. 👍
Thank you! 🤗
We went through this town when we vacationed near Columbus in May and I have pictures of these exact buildings…I loved it! Too bad we didn’t see the church. My family and I enjoy everything y’all post! Thanks for sharing 🤗
So glad y'all enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Looks like someone has changed the petrol prices to now lol . Small town but still has a charm .
Only time I been on bottle gas etc is when I lived in a trailer for 2 years . Now it gets so cold I'm glad I'm connected . Though with current situation it's pricey here .
That was so nice of the lady to tell you about the houses
Yeah, I was glad she wasn't shy and just came up and started telling me about places. Thanks for watching!
My family is still from there and one of my family members was the first black mayor in 2008. The town is starting to change and grow a bit
Very cool! It's good to know it's starting to grow a bit. Thanks for watching!
Nice!
Thanks for watching!
My goodness, all of those closed buildings in the downtown area. It's nice to see the renovated Church.🙏🏼👏 That grass was so green. WOW
Thanks for the tour.🤗
Thanks for watching!
I looked up Woodman of the World, pretty interesting, it was a Fraternal Organization, but also was an insurance Company for all of it's members, there's also other interesting facts about it if you look it up. FESS UP TAYMMAH!!!! There's still 2,350 people living in Shilo, and the median price of a home is only $84,600...DANG, way lower than the rest of the entire Country's home prices. Did you find any abandoned Funeral Homes that you could spend the night in?
No abandoned funeral homes, oh well! Those population numbers don't add up! Thanks for watching!!!
@@timandtammytime I agree, I was shocked when I saw it too, I just typed in the Zip Code, and sure enough, it was Shilo. Here's why I think the Population is so high, it said that that Zip Code covers a part of another town next door, so they might include the population from that Zip. It's primary land mass is in Harris County, and part of that same Zip is in Talbot County. I'm a nerd, I like this stuff, history and old architecture...and memories.
I check population by typing "Shiloh, Georgia Population" in the search bar. I didn't know you could check by zip code. Cool information!
RENOVATION!!!!! Is so good there fix them up
Yes, yes, yes!!!
And a storyteller.
WHAT'S THIS!!!!! Tim lets you out on ya own......????
He wasn't far away! He stayed in the car a lot that day. Thanks for watching!
I love your accent. Its a bit more country than Columbus lol. Where r u from originally?
Thank you! I'm from Alabama! Thanks for watching!
Crepe Myrtle, not Red Bud!!!
My mistake!
I reported a dubious comment.
I'm sorry I try so hard to keep those comments removed! Sometimes they slip through the cracks though. I think I've removed it now! Thanks
