  • This video was made to fully illuminate what the entire mechanical systems of the K40 class laser engraver/cutter look like. With this knowledge trouble shooting becomes easier.
I apologize for quality of the video. My tripod broke and trying to hold a phone, talk and act at the same time is a lot harder than it sounds.

Great video. Very helpful. Noticed this exact same problem when thinking about the optical alignment. No point in aligning anything until the mechanics are square. Thank you!

In the last part of your video, If the Y axis in not tracking parallel (But reasonably close) It can be compensated for with the #1 mirror, Nicki Jensen is correct too much waisted time with chitchat getting the point across.

Thank you very informative video, I just got mine a couple of days ago and the rail looks to be at least 1 inch out of square. maybe even more I will be using your info, I just hope they are enough adjustment to get it right. If not it will be going back. thanks again.

I don't understand the emphasis at the end of the video on aligning the Y rail with the 1st mirror beam reflection, as the 1st mirror can be aligned so the laser beam can get parallel to the Y rail whatever is its orientation.

I know this is a year old, but why did you not just loosen the x stepper coupling to isolate the two ends of the x beam. Then you can set the beam parallel Nd then tighten the shift coupler. Much easier to do.

great tutorial on how this system works. also thankyou for explaining what issues to look for and how to address the issues. you have done a far superior job explaining all this than any other youtuber i have come across. also which 3d printed laser head mount would you use if you were installing a Cloudray laser head and mirrors?

I really do not have any idea. Why do you need a new head mount. ( I am thinking that you are referring to the top plate of the carriage. ) If the hole is not large enough for the new head, open it up. A 'step bit drill' will assist with that.

^great Video. I have the problem if I move the head in x-axis, there is som noise. Any idea how I can solve the problem?

    • @jcbigdaddy9901

Jakob, what does the X rail noise sound like? The X belt tension should be snug but NOT tight. Also the carriage should be snug on the rail but again not tight. Just no wiggle.

Also check UNDER the rail. I used compressed air and blew mine out and got a bunch of crap out. Was amazed.

I want to extend the bed 12x24 so I’m going to have to cut the welds to move lengthen it I already have bought an x rail long enough just have to extend it. Probably have to also extend the pulley belt and the y motor shaft. Do you have any suggestions?
