Hmm . Good question! I suppose I could have done that. At the time I did this vid I was trying to keep it simple . My sticks are currently being used for single stick climbing with aiders and with multiple sticks . Doing as you suggested might lighten them up a bit more but would add another cut and cap on the top . Nice post . Thanks for posting👍
Great question . I do just as you assumed . I don't one stick too often but when I do I do not half hitch the tag end for obvious reasons. I have to date no issues with the og Muddy Pros I own . The cam and rope system has performed as intended I have not experianced any slipping or other problem. I 'm still climbing with them and have no plans to use anything else and there are some very nice sticks on the market.
If I remember correctly the OG muddy pros were 3.4 lbs . After mods the 15 inch sticks weighed in at 2.6 lbs . That is a total weight saved per stick @ .8 lbs.
Thanks for posting this! Very straightforward.
Doesn't the cam cleat need to be move closer to the top? Perhaps take 4.25 off the bottom and 1 inch off the top?

Have you been 1 sticking with these? When 1 sticking I assume you weren't tieing in the half hitches? If so was the line slipping at all?

@@ZX11DAD how much do you weigh and when did you purchase your last set? Have you ever experienced slipping without tying the half hitches?
How much weight did it actually knock off total? I run the same sticks and trying to cut my weight down as I walk about a mile one way on public land!
