Why WWT Raceway (Gateway) is a Gamechanging Venue for the NASCAR Cup Series

- Racing in St Louis was at a crossroads when Dover Motorsports closed Gateway International Raceway in 2010. All signs pointed to its demise. However, real estate developer and former racer himself Curtis Francois decided to buy the facility. The NHRA, NASCAR Truck Series, and IndyCar returned within the first six years of his tenure. NOW, World Wide Technology is set to host the biggest race of the 2022 season. It's Cup Time! The NASCAR Cup Series makes its first stop to the Madison, Illinois facility and it is one that will revolutionize the series as we know it. Another Total L statement? I beg to differ. NRF Productions proudly presents "Why WWT Raceway (Gateway) is a GAMECHANGING Venue for the NASCAR Cup Series."

I think it will be a good race track and it deserves a race on the schedule but let’s just wait until a race has finished to judge whether or not it’s a good venue.
Clearly you are unfamiliar with the NRF Experience.
As a St. Louisan and with this being my home track, I cannot thank Curtis Francois enough for making this venue what it is today. It is a fabulous facility and many people don’t know this, but it’s the only facility in the US that hosts NHRA, INDYCAR, and NASCAR which I think is awesome!
Awesome! Long time Nascar fan. I'm looking forward to the race! I like seeing them go to new venues.
I'm excited for the NASCAR Cup Series debut this weekend. The Xfinity Series should be at Gateway this weekend instead of Portland. I believe Gateway deserves a NASCAR Tripleheader and the Portland race should have been scheduled next weekend with Cup at Sonoma and the Trucks return to Sonoma.
Portland is an amazing track.
Did the truck series used to race at Portland
I believe Busch should be the sponsor since it would be a home race for them
Milwaukee Mile, Indy Raceway Park, Iowa Speedway, Portland International Raceway, Montreal, and Nashville Fairgrounds should be next on the list for Cup Series races. Cannot wait to see this one though too!
I'll say forget Montreal since Montreal wanted NASCAR to race the cup series 9am on the same day as F1. I would love to see a Cup Series race in Montreal. But not 9am.
I would also like to see Nascar at Toronto.
I attended my first ever NASCAR Race on at WWT and cant wait to attend the next one! Traffic wasn't anything unexpected and the atmosphere was great. The race was exciting to the checkered flag
I’m excited to see this race this Sunday hope it will be another good race
As a person from Saint Louis, this is awesome
as a person from st louis, this is awesome for me as well
I would argue that Long Beach is the 2nd most prestigious IndyCar race. It was the most prestigious CART race if that means anything anymore.
Front stretch seats are sold out, finally the turn 1 seats are being used.
Can’t wait for this weekend. I got chills watching this! I’m pumped!
As for parking, once you buy tickets on the website, they ask if you’re driving to the track and if you are, they make it very clear that you must buy parking passes ahead of the race. They also send emails asking if you’ve bought your parking pass yet so if it becomes carmaggedon 2.0, it’s the purchaser’s fault
great video. I live near St Louis I've been to the track a few times. I went to the first race back from Indy car in 2017. I had a great time yeah there was a little traffic after the race but I wasn't in a hurry to leave so I didn't have to deal with it. it was great to walk around the track and just see everything. and then I went last year to the IndyCar race in 2021. it's crazy Joseph New garden won both times. it's great for the track that the cup races there I honestly didn't even know it was there this weekend I knew it was going to be there this year but I didn't know when. I don't follow NASCAR nearly as much as I do Indy car. anyway great video I'm assuming you're from the area maybe with all the props in love for St Louis sports who knows. but I dig it thanks
Great work Nathan! This was exactly what a first time nascar attendee needed to watch.
It’s an absolute dream come true. I’d give anything to be there, covering the event.
You know something about this track makes me think a lot of Rivalries and anger will be born at it.
Taking my 9 year old son to his first ever race there this Sunday. I pray for good weather and racing.
Cup Series at Gateway is going to be interesting to watch
This warmed my St. Louis heart 🙌🏾
I love Gateway, always have when the lower teir series would race it, and racing it in nr2003, so I was super happy to hear it's be on the cup scheduel this year
then again, Denny Hamlin did say that these cars arent too good at flat tracks so we'll see if it's a good race (I really hope it is)
@@themumblebrapper Denny did not have a good day however it wasnt the tracks fault. lol
I couldn't agree more Gateway (WWTR) has always been one of my favorite track even though it hasn't been I the Cup serires in till this weekend.
4:00 Displaying a 2015-16 population change map while essentially blaming J.B. Pritzker for Metro East’s problems is weird, considering he took office in 2019.

If they added higher banking in the turns omg this track would be amazing in nascar
Idk why they don’t do this with Kansas. Kansas City is also a huge metro area and could really use some NASCAR orientation
WWT was also my favorite track in NASCAR Heat 5 and this is also my favorite tracks of all time!
I think a few drivers will complain because they will be shifting a lot and not just driving lol It's a very technical track and you forgot to mention turns 1 and 2 are tighter than 3 and 4.
I never lost hope. Can't wait to see the race
As a Missouri resident I'm actually looking forward to this just for the economic support it will give the state, I won't watch the race because I'm done with Nascar since all my drivers retired and various reasons. I hope turnout is good because Missouris economy really relies on Kansas and the race tracks for it's business!
I've been a nascar fan for a long time too and I do miss some if the old guys. Wallace, Gordon, Labonte, Jarrett, Stewart, Elliott etc but they really have some great talent out there racing today.
Wow, all I knew was that Kenny was going to be there. Thanks for the insight 👍 🏁
Ive driven past this track a few times over the years, but this time I'm actually gonna be attending a race and im very excited
my new home track 😄
From what you said i like the track. I never of it before it was put on the NASCAR schedule.
I hope the track has a 1:64 promo diecasts to go with the program.
How much would I need to rebuild Meyer Speedway?
I really do not understand why this event was not a playoff race as St Louis does not have a football team.... Kansas City does. But I think that will change
I just ran my first ten laps at this track ever on iRacing in the trucks. MAN is it a blast to drive. it's a tough little track but it's fun and will put on a great show
Only issue in whole video you stands dont have backrests but in the video of the race where lights went out you can see stands have backrest
That’s only the first 10-15 rows which usually are general admission and cheaper than reserved seating, (red with backrests). Although I did sit in the turn 1-2 grandstands for the first time and I can’t wait to watch a race from there, you can see the whole track and when they get loose coming out of 2.
now all we need is the xfinity series to come here and we are all set
Will the fans of "The Greatest Sports City in America" get mad at the driver who wins the race when he starts doing donuts and tell him to act like he's been there before? Will they get mad at him if he's wearing jewelry? Dear God, I can only imagine what they'll say if Suarez or Bubba wins.
So I take it you are from St Louis
I used to work & live in St. Louis...the important part is used to.....
I live in Franklin County in a small town called New Haven MO I will be attending that race what about all of you guys
If nothing else I was at Atlanta and if I didn't have to drive I probably would have got more drunk and have even more fun if there was a shuttle between the city and the track
Somewhat unrelated, the blues took a massive L
The next target for the World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway would be an IMSA SportsCar Championship Race at the WWTR Roval
1. Its just Gateway. It will always be just Gateway. 2. Road course.
@@shrimpshrubbery7664 Regardless of the success of the inaugural Enjoy Illinois 300 on Monday (Manila Time), the Enjoy Illinois 300 would add an additional 100 miles and an extra 85 laps, thus this race will be the Enjoy Illinois 400 with 325 laps
Is the nascar cup race at night or during the day?
It is a day race i believe
Commenting to help algorithm
They're going to be shifting there and it's going to be terrible because of it
Cant wait to be there june 5th just printed the tickets
I’m in section 41
@@castandblast1852 im pretty sure im in section 201 or sum like that over in turn 1
@@baileymcclure5115 those will be pretty good seats. Tradition has me in around the braking zone for turn one.

First off, dont get me wrong. Gateway is a good facility and track for a truck or Xfinity race weekend. But for Cup I think its going to be a let down espically with the next gen car as good as it has been. So this isn't going to be a home run. More like a 3 and out for Gateway. And Road America is not owned by SMI or ISC. It's owned by Road America Inc. Do your research when making your videos. And I hate to say it, but the bad take man is back at it again...
Where's the St. Louis football team tho and I mean real football
Kronke moved them because he wanted to so xfl moved in and we have the best attendance in the xfl when they had there season
The cardinals? They moved to Arizona.
@@CGrantMaledy the rams
@@baileymcclure5115 yes, also those, but there were other teams.
If you’re talking about the soccer team, I think they get started next year
I think the first race will sellout but I honestly think tv ratings will be poor compared to years past at other circuits. NASCAR has done more harm than good for their branding recently and I think people are fed up with it.
I think realistically again the first race will sell but I doubt folks will be impressed with the tv ratings. Also funny how Xfinity is in Portland maybe they can just go out to those Chaz areas and march with BLM since the sport has went above and beyond woke lately.
Its a bad video wen he has bubba in the thumbnail
