  • Jarrid Wilson knows what it's like to struggle with a mental illness while also being in leadership. Does such a struggle disqualify one from leadership? And what can the church do to de-stigmatize the problem of mental illness in our congregations?

Yes it will cause them pain however the struggling person also knows that their struggles they deal with everyday can cause their family great pain as well sometimes it can be more. Don't know in this case but I have personal experience both ways.

My little guy said to me tonight that as a Pastor, he helped so many going through the same struggles he had, that he should of had an outlet, someone he could of shared with who would have come a long side him and helped HIM to get through his struggles. How tragic. I'll be praying for his precious boys and wife. May we all stay focused on Jesus. He's our only hope.

I do agree with what this guy is saying about the medication. We dont think anything about taking medication for blood pressure, diabetes, etc. However, when it comes to anything coming through are brains, that's different. If you dont think people should take meds. for depression, then you shouldn't take meds. for anything. Any medicine has side affects and or can be harmful. You pray and the Lord will lead. At the same time keep praying for healing.

Depression is a sprit so it's not the same as you say taking medicine for body and taking medicine for mind=soul. We can't fight spiritual sickness with physical medicine. Depression medication doesn't even solve anything it only numbs people in emotions and sadly often even worsens their state. I've had depression and suicidal toughts for years until i surrened to Lord, when Jesus set me free i am free and it's been years. Never again had i tought about suicide. So it's up to us whom will we put our trust into - almighty God or human made medicine

The Bible talks about the feeble minded among the body. Says we are to help the feeble minded. Not condemn.

Praying for the family, we need to pray for our pastors. These "relevant" and "hip" churches do their leaders a massive disservice by taking younger inexperienced guys and thrusting into the limelight and forcing them into this strange happy, yet "spiritual" mold. The confessional, "authentic" pastor that "struggles" is also a mask, folks.
This young man should not have been pastoring and being an activist, this exacerbated his condition.
And sadly, his advice also is not entirely biblical. While I agree that confession, and being honest with those around you and talking about God's love is so important. These things are not enough, "destigmatizing" and being real, and "authentic," will not save your soul, nor will it transform our hearts.
The Gospel, the message of the cross, confession, repentance, forgiveness holiness, Christian joy and faith in Jesus for complete healing, physical and emotional healing are very easy to brush aside and look down on, now-a-days even by Christian leaders, however this is the center of our message and nothing can replace this emphasis. Please we need to stop turning the Gospel into a feel good, mancentric self help movement.

@@khewgley They are just saying He ( I say passed ) they said ( Had died from suicide. ) If you study his Facebook profile & his page for suicide awareness he had posted the past few months he been fighting a sickness, he thought the flu & then the end of Aug. He had a bad cough sore throat & he literally said it felt like he was swallowing daggers & he didn't know what to do...
His last post on Facebook at I believe was at 6:20 PM said this..
( Toxic relationships can create toxic hearts.
Remove yourself from the relationship before your toxic heart tries to remove you from your peace. )
Then posted this on the 7th in the AM
( People must realize the importance of creating healthy boundaries to hinder certain people to continue abusing their relationship with them.
Being a Christian doesn’t mean you let people walk all over you, with your mental health being the payment.
      Boundaries matter. )
The GoFundMe account started at $50,000 & then they moved it to $70,000, then $ 75,000 now it's up to $85,000. Dont get me wrong his babys need support but they keep moving the amount up. Wow!!! Just hours before he passed he posted a amazing video of him with his son playing at the baseball field. That video was posted a little over a hour before he supposably took his life. His wife wrote something about his passing & said he passed at 11:30 PM
It just doesn't make any sense & I pray the truth Shines so so Brite on his passing.
His speaking was mainly for the young generation & he was a man of strong Faith. I don't believe he would do that to his young followers in fear of others taking there life. Especially on the eve of suicide Awareness Day.

Serious side effects of Effexor XR include clinical worsening of symptoms and suicide risk, especially in younger patients.
Tell your doctor if you experience worsening depression or thoughts of suicide while taking Effexor XR.
    yeah... right
Dr.: "Here you go. Good luck."
