I learned some new information watching this, but it struck me that God has again made a way of escape for us if we’re willing to heed His word & move when He says move. If we don’t heed Him, we’ll be caught in the coming destruction. This was very thought-provoking. Thank you.
"THIS generation shall not pass until ALL these things be fulfilled." He was talking about 70AD, end of story - take Him at his word. What "coming destruction" do we see now? Did the Bible predict: 1. The black death 2. The crusades 3. The Genocide of the Incas 4. The French Revolution 5. Napoleon 6. WW1 7. The Soviet Union 8. WW2 9. The holocaust ????. NOPE! but some people during each of those events said the SAME thing that people today say, "We are in the last days! These bad things happening are a fulfillment of prophecy. The end is near!" Each generation that said that was WRONG, but "This time it's different" says everyone. This sort of "end of the world" thinking is nothing new and it's decidedly unhealthy, unbiblical, and is only possible because people do NOT take Jesus at his word: ALL of the Olivet discourse was fulfilled in that generation, just like he said. End of story, get back to building his kingdom and stop with the "newspaper eschatology" - here is the Christ, there he is, he's coming now. Jesus said "Don't do that." are you going to obey him?
There must have been many who remembered Jesus’ words and then saw the destruction, what a time that must have been and now we are hearing and seeing the pangs of His coming again….🙏🏻🕊
People said the same thing during the Black death when 40% of the population died off in one generation. Things have been way worse in the past then they are now. "This generation shall not pass until ALL these things have been fulfilled." Jesus meant it - everything he said happened by 70 AD. The question for you is, Are you going to take him at his word? Stop worrying about the end - it's NOT for you to know. It's unhealthy and unbiblical.

Love the history and spurring us to be ready today, but Matt. 24:34 clearly says these celestial events would happen within a generation. This series is describing the fulfillment of his prophecy and the end of the old covenant. Else, he was a false prophet. God Bless
Thank you for your feedback. Jonah was also told to go to Ninevah and warn of the impending destruction. We know from the bible that the people of Ninevah heeded the Message from God and repented. I think from this example, we can. Say God is merciful. I am sure we will have many questions to ask when we get to Heaven.
A disingenuous reply to the person pointing out the imminence of Christ's parousia. Further, the word "soon" is translated from the word "mello", meaning "about to happen" which it did! There is a type-antitype hermeneutic tied to Moses deliverance of Jacob's tribes from "Egypt" (sin world condition) to the promised land, and Christ's 40 year period of transitioning from error of O T continuance, into the new covenant. A great film production, devoid of spiritual insight due to Darby/ Scofield/Shafer influence in seminaries and ecclesia
Your date information is incorrect. Cestius Gallus attacked Jerusalem in September-October of 66 A.D. (According to Cambridge University Press), NOT in 70 A.D.
I never understood how such a massive stone built construction could burn and be destroyed. Stone can crack under the heat of a fantastically intense fire. But in this case, what would have fueled the fire? As about razing the whole temple to the ground, how? Did the Romans really waste time knocking down the temple walls? Using what? Catapults and battering rams? Did Josephus report on that?
Actually, yes. In his work "The Jewish War", Josephus vividly describes the Roman siege and conquest of Jerusalem, including the burning and dismantling of the magnificent Temple. Here is an excerpt describing the Temple's destruction: "And now, since fortune had changed sides once more, divine providence had given a final loophole to virtue in that the fires could not catch properly because of the massiveness of the construction; but, then, outflanked, the Romans set fire to the repository of the treasures and so a strengthened blaze fed richly on this and over-leapt on to the hippodrome. Air was engulfed, perishing with the perishable. Outlasting all, the surroundings of the sacred Courtyard held out until, with a battering-ram once more set up their walls too were flattened." (The Jewish War 6.249-252) Josephus graphically describes how the Romans systematically demolished and burned the entire Temple complex, leaving "not one stone standing upon another" just as Jesus had prophesied would happen (Matthew 24:2). His eyewitness account provides crucial historical corroboration of the complete destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.
Thank you for answering. I guess the legions occupied the wreck of Jerusalem more than half a century, improving nothing there, just preventing the Jews to settle back in. But after the Bar Kohkba rebellion in 132 or so, Hadrian got fed up of them and, to stamp their eradication from the place, he renamed it Aelia Capitolina and built a gianmous temple to Jupiter on the same hill top. There is amazingly zero trace to date of that temple either. All these guys of those tough times were great at building and fantastic at destroying.
Good video but falls apart at one point. He shows the birth pains of Matt 24:5-8 are future (or current), which I agree with @15:09. Then @17:45 he claims the Roman standards are the abomination of desolation mentioned in Matt 24:15! How did we go from the future to 70AD? It doesn’t make any sense. What context indicates that Jesus in Matt 24:15 reverts back to 70AD? None. In Luke 21:12 we do have an example of Jesus clearly doing this with the “But before all this…” phrase. In Matt 24:27 Jesus starts talking about his 2nd coming which is in the future. So, with this model we have future then 70AD then future with no indication of a change in time. There was no abomination of desolation in 70AD.
Think you misunderstood the referencing to 70AD. There is a first and second occupation of Jerusalem, and the Christians back before the second occupation fled the city and none got killed. That is a parallel to the end of time when that happens again in antitype.
@@genebaker6964 You won’t find it in scripture either. Matthew 24 isn’t fulfilled twice. The siege of Jerusalem was the fulfillment. It was the end of the old covenant all of the NT authors spoke of. James - “…the coming of the Lord is near.” James 5:8 Peter - “…ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Pet 1:5 John - “…things which must soon take place…” Rev 1:1 John - “…we know that it is the last hour.” 1 John 2:18 Paul - “…they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.” 1 Cor 10:11
@@Copenator333 If you believe that Matt 24 was fulfilled in 70 AD then you must believe Jesus screwed up. After all he told everybody to flee when they saw the abomination of desolation (AoD). The problem is the AoD couldn’t occur till the Romans had taken the temple mount and they had first erected a siege wall around the entire city (Luke 19:43-44 and Josephus). No way to flee once the siege wall had been built. Most of Matt 24 is future.
@@genebaker6964 I didn’t claim how the AoD was fulfilled, the documentary made the claim. You are assuming I agree the Romans fulfilled the prophecy by bringing their staff to the holy place as the documentary seemed to have stated. My point was, to say the fulfillment of the AoD occurring in 70AD but the fulfillment of the rest of Daniel 12 hasn’t happened is incoherent. Especially when Jesus told them it would be fulfilled in their generation (Mat 24:34). During the Olivet discourse, in Luke, Jesus states the sign to flee was when believers saw Jerusalem surrounded by armies. If believers heard both (AoD and armies surrounding), wouldn’t they have fled?
Wait a second…the fulfillment of the abomination of desolation was in the 1st century??? Does that mean the events of Daniel 12 (resurrection, judgement) also happened in the 1st century?

You had my attention up to putting the Olivet Discourse in our future. 70 AD was not only the end of the age (old covenant)… it was also the fulfillment of everything the prophet Daniel spoke of. Christ pointed to Daniel in the Olivet Discourse to help us understand this fulfillment. There is not a 2000 year gap in Daniels 70week prophecy. Daniel’s 4th beast of chapter 7 was fulfilled also. The 10 horns plus little horn line up from Pompey - Vespasian counts 11. Daniel states that the little horn (Vespasian) will subdue 3. Three rulers before Vespasian were killed in 1 year. This in history is called the year of the 4 emperors. Daniel 12 starts off with description of what happens after the temple gets destroyed after the 1290 days after daily sacrifice is taken away… the resurrection. This is what almost everyone has missed for 2000 years… Daniel’s prophecy states that and Christ said it would happen immediately after the temple was destroyed. The resurrection has happened and was started for all who remain in Christ from 70AD on…
So as a historian you miss that Jesus is actually talking to that generation. It's not about futurism, but the end of the old covenant age. 70AD was His coming.

Jesus said this, Jesus said that….truth is that nobody who wrote what Jesus did or did not say was alive anywhere near the time of his life. So you trust that Mathew or Mark are telling the truth of it, but who did Mathew and Mark trust to claim the same? If your answer is “God”, you are an idiot. I believe there is a power greater than humanity, and I believe that we sometimes get messages of things we personally need to hear. But they don’t come in the form of an actual voice, speaking intelligible language, about specific things. I can’t believe that any evangelist has heard the voice of God dictating detailed and specific past events to people hundreds of years later. It’s just ridiculous.
