  • A collection of Photographs taken during British Colonial Era (1815-1948) downloaded using Internet. With profound thanks to photographers (Expatriates for sure) , we are able to view how Sri Lanken Towns, Historical Places had been before 100 years ago. They wouldn't have expected an "Internet Era" to distribute their valuable efforts which we are in now. Lets View, conserve and pass them for our next Generations

it's pleasure to see the peaceful and calm environment of SriLanka in the past filled with rich nature. It's sad that the people ruin that era for greediness for power and wealth.

*Ayubowan. Sri Lankans are an ancient people. 1948 was the year, the people of Ceylon/Sri Lanka was given their freedom to rule themselves.Sri Lanka's Founding Fathers (e.g. D.S. Senanayake) knew the work was hard and forth with difficult challenges. They knew a united citizenry was the key to success. Mistakes were made. Today, Sri Lanka has been given a chance to bring Her Founding Fathers dreams into reality, that of a unity and wellbeing of ALL Her citizens .They comprehend the lessons of world history," a house divided can not stand." Though being multi-ethnic and religious , unity is Her daily song. Success is not in doubt, because Sri Lankans are smart and learn from the past. God Bless Sweet Pearl of the Indian Ocean (SRI LANKA) Ayubowan

In Sri Lanka we had Narrow gauge Railways Line from Nanooya to Ragala with 5 Stations also running through Nuwara Eliya Railway station to Ragala
Also we had Colombo to Opanayaka through Ratnapura
Also from Avissawella to Yatiyantota through Karanawella
All 21/2 ' gauge Railways Line
If we had these Railways we would have earned Millions of pounds dollar €$₩¥£foreign currency
With the motor transport lorry services were introduced the Tea Rubber coconut produce were transport to Colombo by motor vehicle 🚛 lorries also
Passengers started plying on Buses as quick and for punctuality
So train travel in these are were time consuming and delayed
Even that our tourism was not so much lucrative business at that time
Now it's time to re open these Railways transport for tourist attractions foreign and local with the population growth in 2024 long term benefits so much more

Sri Lanaka's closest neighbor is India. History proves that roots of Sri Lankan's were from India.
The populations of the Indian subcontinent were assumed to be a mixture of "Dravidian race", tentatively with an "Australoid" grouping, with an Aryan race, identified as a sub-race to the Caucasoid race, but some authors also assumed Mongolic admixture, so that India, for the purposes of scientific racism, presented a complicated mixture of all major types.

Sinhalese are a mix of many races...Nagas from Nagaland with mongoloid features but dark skinned, Raksha and Yaksha would have been austro-negroid (Veddas) some aryan blood is also there but very rare (note Aryans orginated from Iran and it is very rare to see an Aryan face in within the Sinhala race.)Dravidian blood is there - Some parts of Sri Lanka were under Dravidian rule, We also have Malay, Indonesian, Japanese, Arabic, Portugese, Dutch etc mixed blood in the Sinhala race.

QUESTION FROM QUORA AND ANSWER ON SINHALESE
What is the difference between Tamils of India and Sri lanka? Which one is indigenous to Sri lanka?
      I’m a scholar and a historian
First of all Tamil is a language and all Tamils are (South) Indian Chola, pandiyan, Chera and Pallava dynasties altogether known as “Dravidian” who were invaders to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) since the 2 - 9th Century CE; initially Tamils being Indian which makes 17.5% of the world population and 5.9% from that who speaks Tamil; tough Indians are considered the second largest population of the planet the Tamils who are born in Sri Lanka are considered as Sri Lankan since the British colonial period as Tamils were brought by the Englishmen for estate labor work from south India most specifically for Tea estates in Sri Lanka these generations and whoever are locally mixed through marriages etc..
The "Sinhala" word derives from the "Siv Hela" "Four Primitives" (Yaksha, Naga, Raksha & Deva) who were the prehistoric tribal clans who lived over 45 Billions of years (generations rooting since the great continent “Pangaea” and later on towards formation of islands and continents) they are also known as the "Suriyawanshika" “Siv Hela” Siv - more likely referring to the Sun and light (Sun Dynasty Blood tribes).
Google search the “Balangoda, Wavula Pane, Batadombalena, Fa Hien cave, Bellanbandi Pallassa, Horton Plains and Dorawaka Lena” early man the fossils in the island records from around 40,000 BP - 5400 BP on wards however generations may root back to or over Billions of years.
Tough for an argument on fossilized evidence certain caves have been reported to be of such ancient age; and proves the fact of the formation of the island from the great continent and the early mans generation rooting back towards to or over 45 Billion years while some scientists also mention that certain other tribesmen migrated from north western or closer regions of China across northern India to Ceylon; initially it is clearly understandable that the present day majority consist of the ancient “Siv Hela” accordingly.
Then later arrives prince Vijaya 540 - 500 BCE and marries a Yaksha lady the offspring first two children "Disala and Jeewahatha" are the beginning of the Vedda generations but the rest of the tribal primitives are the majority present day Sinhalese; however know that Vijaya also ordered Indian princesses to marry so until the present day Vij + Ind princesses offspring generations also live but in small proportions and + Muslim, Tamil, European all live and even they are mixed with each other creating a multi ethnic society in the present.
Since the Tamils are Dravidian south Indian dynasties "Chola, Pandiyan, Chera and Pallava" some propagandist try to claim that the Ceylonese “Naga” tribe is Tamil so that they have the right to claim the Ltte terrorists demands on owing the island, if the Naga’s were Tamil there would be no reason for the South Indians to invade Sri Lanka.
The Buddha visited Kelaniya Sri Lanka (present day Kelani Raja Maha Viharaya the temple 9 - 10 km east area from Colombo) for the third time with 500 of his followers at the invitation of King “Maniakkhika” a Naga king in 9 B.E. (519/520 B.C.) so with this detail it is undoubtedly clear that the claims by some Tamils referring themselves as the descendants of the ancient Naga clans and their heritages rooting from the northern Jaffna peninsula and east regions of the island is clearly non existent and in direct support of Ltte demands.
Some other Naga names since the lord Buddhas time "Chulodara, Mahodara along with “Maniakkhika” or “kitha” do you see any difference between something like Subramaniam, Maheswaran? those Naga names are literally the "Siv Hela".
(The age of earth 4. 5 billion was a radiometric figure since the early 1800's was determined as somewhere between 200 - 400 million years and today it is even confirmed that the age goes further beyond and even unable to determine as science is an aspect of finding and they change)

We get slated for alot of stuff we did in the past, with many accusations that we were only interested in ourselves but tell me, how many other countries invested so much in infrastructure and other areas in the own lands, let alone places the other side of the world?
The world would be less progressive place if it wasn't for the British.

Dont try to justify the aggression of the Brits by this sort of utter BS ! Fact is the Brits didnt occupy this land because they cared ohh so much about the people of this island and wanted to make their life better, the simple reason is that they wanted all the truly remarkable amount of resources packed into this tiny island. Infact if the locals were loyal to the king and didnt open all gates and let you through you brits wouldn't have concurred this island in the first place.
