- we finally working on 4th generation hybrid system from this 2017 toyota C-HR which is the very same PRIUS ECO. so a full deep tutorial servicing this battery to keep it in optinal conditions for long time.

Love this video! I watched it before, so I knew about the service plug not splitting the pack in half. I was shocked when I saw you touching the live connection nuts with your bare fingers. So I guess they're somewhat safe even though the pack has 220 volts. I am planning to buy a 2017 Prius hybrid battery pack from a junk yard, primarily to swap the modules into my 2008 battery pack. The tops of the batteries look a little different, but I am hoping they have the same thickness, height, and length as the Prius Gen 2 modules. Thank you for this very informative video. I can see that I can easily remove the cover, and the module connection plastic covers so that I can do a quick load test on the modules. Thanks again! 😄

Hello again Jose... as alway great material an such a pleasure to watch with your involvement, i must say you get pretty wrapped when you work on batteries extra excitment an endless smiles haha but good too see, hey noticed you have some hobby chargers too.. would be great to see them going into action on those NIMH modules, just a thought but those bus bars see how they have the same stress patterns on them like a wave or arrow pattern would that be from heat transiting throw the copper from visible pattern " it seems like it" e.g. if you get a battery charger "old type" an say get some clean bus bars an get 7 to 15ohm 10w ceramic resisters an put them in series say 2 or 3 to 4 of each depending on amps an apply variable load an watch the affect to the bus bars ( with a fan on them ) an see the distortion of heat throw the cooper where this would lose its resistance and tolerance then would the cooper become porous giving the affect of corroision to built up effectively giving the means of replacement an if so that would indicate the thickness of the bus bars are only the minimum requirement of such a battery. well watchin next video before i get into trouble ;)

Great service video series, thank you! Question, I'm considering hooking another inverter to my 2017 Prius 3 Touring's hybrid battery to generate 110/120vac electricity. It's a 5kw hybrid (battery, grid/generator, solar) inverter. My question is do I connect it by cutting the positive and negative leads going into the Prius OEM inverter and splice it in there? If so, what type of splice/junction box/connector would you recommend to splice it in? Thanks in advance for your consideration and time. God bless you.
Great video, question: do you have experience working with the 56 cell lithium battery? they started using it in some 4th GEN Prius like the ECO and upper trims. I know it consists in two battery stacks with 28 cells @ 3.7v each in a fixed stack that's welded, so rotating cells is not an option, you can however remove each stack as a whole, they do have busbars, no modules but each cell is monitored so you get 56 voltage readings... does lithium packs require same maintenance as NiMH, are the busbars getting dirty like NiMH packs? what is your recommendation for the lithium pack maintenance? Thanks for your feedback.
Only for cleaning purposes my friend… this battery chemistry doesn’t produce corrosion between the connections so no need for a service like this 🫡✅🔋🔋🔋
@@hybridsolutiondiagnostics Right. So no need to open the the case on this one, pretty much maintenance-free just keep the cabin clean, and maintaining the cooling fan & filter intake. Hope these kind of battery won’t be a headache as they age. I appreciate you feedback Jose!
Hi, can i assume that if i remove 12 volt negative from auxiallary battery, the power to inverter will be shutdonw. reason is in 2017 toyota highlander service plug is burried inside the midddle row and it is not easy accessible.. please advise

Hi, I love the videos, very informative. I have a bit of a situation, I have a 2020 CHR Hybrid coming close to HV Battery warranty end and I am trying to get Toyota to service the battery but they decline and will only repair the battery once it fails. I am afraid it will fail just out of the 160k Km warranty in a few months. I tried to explain to them that per YOU (the master) they lugs are all corroded and the inner cells need rotation. How can I het them to look at it under warranty?
In Europe pay every year $50 Dollar or €40 Euro for Hybride health Check by Toyota Dealer Garage , you get every year warranty . i can do that until 10 Year old.
