Just rewatched this for the 7th time and I just noticed something. When Lagann throws Simon, it's eyes are spiral and green instead of their usual yellow. Lagann achieved it's own spiral energy and sentience just to fast ball special Simon and I love it.

Seeing Lagann throw Simon at the end there was absolutely awesome. The fact that this machine had a a heart as well and it believed in what Kamina and Simon held in their hearts is just awesome.

As someone has said in the comments before, the fact that the anti spiral, a physical representation of despair and nihilism, breaks down Gurren Lagann layer by layer I can’t help but cry. It can seem like the whole universe is conspiring to build a ceiling of unrelenting resistance in our lives. The fact that Simons indomitable spirit , the last layer that doesn’t falter under immense pressure, breaks the the meta physical barrier between hope and despair gives me so much resilience. Gurren Lagann will always be GOAT. Number 1 for me after a decade due to the fact that it has helped me on so many depressing stages of my life. And seeing this in theaters for the first time was a privilege I’ll never forget. Whatever the seemingly impossible challenges are, I’ll always remember to grit my teeth. That’s tengen toppa. That’s Gurren Lagann.
This in theaters went so hard. Aside from Simon monologuing throughout the fight, Lordgenome's crazed enthusiasm to give his life for a future for the spiral races is such amazing voice work.
This scene has always gotten me through tough times. Every single scene is a masterpiece in visual storytelling from Viral overcoming his own shadows to pilot the same suit he considered his mortal enemy to Lagann suddenly gaining consciousness to launch Simon as one final sendoff - every single bit makes me, a grown man who has seen this exact same clip many years ago countless times, break down in tears. Sending everyone who is watching this right now and going through tough times all my spiral energy to get through whatever it is that is holding you down.
Finally got the opportunity to watch this in theaters, I had watched this movie like 3 times before but nothing beats the big screen, needless to say that I cried
I get mesmerized by how the final drill clash is essentially the impact of two forces of energies equivalent to entire multiverses, and that’s how so absurd in scale of a fight GL’s final battle was.

I like how the protagonist just get bigger for the sake of getting bigger. And the villain be like "so it's the same of stand as mine" and does axactly what ever the protagonist đoes

I will always love the fact that near the very end, Lagann gained some kind of sentience for a brief moment as was like "FUCK HIM UP!" and grabbed Simon from inside itself and threw him at the Anti-Spiral. Even Simon is like "WTF?" and calls out Laganns name.
It's up there in my top 5 anime of all time i would say my top 5 goes like: 1) Gintama 2) Monogatari series 3) Fate zero 4) Steins gate 5) Gurren Lagann

I deeply love it because it create such a distinct contrast between fiction and the realistic real deep strength life has at its core. And the way it illustrates it is really realistic in the sense that its truly relatable to real life, for exemple of sacrifice is part of succeeding
There’s still new watchers all the time with me being one of them I was two years old when this anime released and I discovered it six years ago looking for another anime to watch on RUclips since I had no money to pay for a subscription and i instantly fell in love with it and for me it is still #1 the way the story was structured with so much more meaning than what meets the eye and the animation that was so ahead of it’s time I will never forget how impactful this anime truly was for me

I've watched Naruto and I can say that it's because of their (identical) goals they want to achieve through their respective ideologies. Naruto had some emotional build-up because it's more like a fight between (blood-)brothers. A fight that surpasses generations (makes sense plot-wise, since saying it like that makes it nothing different from GL), that's what made Naruto's last fight a great one. This didn't have one. It was more of a "group vs. group", ideology vs. ideology if you will. The previous one was pretty intense considering what they had been through (together).
Every time i watch this i want to cry me eyes out. I might be glazin but this anime is just something special. I think its the most unique peace of media i ever watched/consumed. I watched it 5/6 years ago and still i cant find anything simillar to it (Kill la KIll is smth people always mention but its not even close for me). If there is any media that just screams be yourself and believe in yoruself you can do it, it is this.
my only complaint about it being in the theater was I wish it was in imax just for the sound quality. Other than that, it was so cool seeing this again on the big screen.

As someone has said in the comments before, the fact that the anti spiral, a physical representation of despair and nihilism, breaks down Gurren Lagann layer by layer I can’t help but cry. It can seem like the whole universe is conspiring to build a ceiling of unrelenting resistance in our lives. The fact that Simons indomitable spirit , the last layer that doesn’t falter under immense pressure, breaks the the meta physical barrier between hope and despair gives me so much resilience. Gurren Lagann will always be GOAT. Number 1 for me after a decade due to the fact that it has helped me on so many depressing stages of my life. And seeing this in theaters for the first time was a privilege I’ll never forget. Whatever the seemingly impossible challenges are, I’ll always remember to grit my teeth. That’s tengen toppa. That’s Gurren Lagann.

Watched this in dub the night it came out in theaters after 15 years and it was amazing. The cast still got it, like they never left.
This scene has always gotten me through tough times. Every single scene is a masterpiece in visual storytelling from Viral overcoming his own shadows to pilot the same suit he considered his mortal enemy to Lagann suddenly gaining consciousness to launch Simon as one final sendoff - every single bit makes me, a grown man who has seen this exact same clip many years ago countless times, break down in tears.
Sending everyone who is watching this right now and going through tough times all my spiral energy to get through whatever it is that is holding you down.
Finally got the opportunity to watch this in theaters, I had watched this movie like 3 times before but nothing beats the big screen, needless to say that I cried

I get mesmerized by how the final drill clash is essentially the impact of two forces of energies equivalent to entire multiverses, and that’s how so absurd in scale of a fight GL’s final battle was.

You're lucky, I wanted to see it badly but it wasnt within the time I had in my schedule. Truly a once in a lifetime experience less you just rent out a whole theatre room. I'll probably do that one day

I barely understand japanese and I've watched gurren lagann so much I can basically recite it word for word. I love Gurren Lagann so much because it was life changing for me and many others.

And the Best part? It doesnt matter that the Anti spiral was always more powerful and never used his power because he wasnt willing to destroy. He wanted them to surrender and stop figthing. To fall into disspeir
I will always love the fact that near the very end, Lagann gained some kind of sentience for a brief moment as was like "FUCK HIM UP!" and grabbed Simon from inside itself and threw him at the Anti-Spiral. Even Simon is like "WTF?" and calls out Laganns name.
Lord Genome really was the embodiment of the masculine urge to sacrifice yourself for the sake of friends and family.

But in all actuality Akira probably got the closest any manga/anime could ever get to the scaling of Gurren Lagann, as its literally millions of universes while Akira has only reached barely 12. And now we know that yes Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann can beat the crap out of the Dragon Ball verse. Hell, Goku ain't even the strongest in DBS.

There’s still new watchers all the time with me being one of them I was two years old when this anime released and I discovered it six years ago looking for another anime to watch on RUclips since I had no money to pay for a subscription and i instantly fell in love with it and for me it is still #1 the way the story was structured with so much more meaning than what meets the eye and the animation that was so ahead of it’s time I will never forget how impactful this anime truly was for me

I've watched Naruto and I can say that it's because of their (identical) goals they want to achieve through their respective ideologies. Naruto had some emotional build-up because it's more like a fight between (blood-)brothers. A fight that surpasses generations (makes sense plot-wise, since saying it like that makes it nothing different from GL), that's what made Naruto's last fight a great one. This didn't have one. It was more of a "group vs. group", ideology vs. ideology if you will. The previous one was pretty intense considering what they had been through (together).

Every time i watch this i want to cry me eyes out. I might be glazin but this anime is just something special. I think its the most unique peace of media i ever watched/consumed. I watched it 5/6 years ago and still i cant find anything simillar to it (Kill la KIll is smth people always mention but its not even close for me). If there is any media that just screams be yourself and believe in yoruself you can do it, it is this.
my only complaint about it being in the theater was I wish it was in imax just for the sound quality. Other than that, it was so cool seeing this again on the big screen.
