Number 1 hit single of 2024... "I'm cooking Saaaaannnndddd" by LMM
Catchy 😂
Thank you!
switch phone off, spray near isopropyl alcohol and use either cotton buds or microfibre cloth to clear the super glue off your screen.
I'll give it a bash
Phone screens are glass so solvents are safe, just avoid contact with the plastic bits.
Easiest way to get stuff off of glass is a fresh stanley blade at a very shallow angle
Acetone. Rub it with a cloth and let it soak and the glue will loosen off.
@@lmmwell considering the amount of suggestions and if it's not happened already a quick 30 seconds at the end of a video to show the screen cleaned lol
Hello
Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels
I agree, always need to prioritize the important aspects, and windows and painting track chairs are certainly that!
Excatly!
Best one yet! Glue on the phone incident made me laugh out loud as I try to clean superglue off my glasses! Needed a good giggle as ex Marine Engineer husband has just gone into dementia care home, so I’m left to build alone as a complete beginner. Thanks for the fun sweetie, Marti x
In sorry to hear that - but glad to help!
Cooking the sand is a great idea. I think I’ll use that tip for my model using old hornby three rail
I have a bfo deep tray that you'd probably use to keep food warm on a counter. Stick it in the oven and forget about it for a few hours. Golf courses are good places for sand.
@@ABrit-bt6ce noted about the golf course
Builders sand is pretty cheap!
You lot are insane. The last minute chaos made me anxious just watching! Hope you get your sanity back soon, in time for next year when you do it all over again!
Yes, i can see why some of the gang are divorced or single....
It's been an experience!
Try using IPA (Isopropyl alcohol) as a cleaning agent to get the super glue off your phone. put a little IPA on the screen on the glue, then wipe with a soft cloth.
IPA is used commonly as an electrical cleaner. Just note, the IPA will evaporate reasonably well, and inhaling the fumes isn't great for you, do this in a well ventilated area.
I'll give it a go
Get yourself some Four Head that will help with your headache!! I have a lot of headaches and just paint some Four Head on my forehead!!
I think he was too far gone for that
That was ridiculously good fun. I missed the Statfold show so I hope the footage gives good detail on what's finished and what needed work post-show. When you next bring your layout back to the West Midlands I will have to come down and see it.
It was a great show! We're hoping to take the modular out again so there will be more chances
@@lmm I don't know if you are aware but the Swindonized Industrial loco 813 you have driven has sprung a severe leak in her tank. Her owners are raising funds for repairs at the Severn Valley.
I'm totally impressed. The scenery turned out absolutely wonderful! And the drought aspect makes it even more special...
I'm so pleased how it came together
So glad you did not attempt another lot of resin right at the end - that would have had scope for disaster - visions of bits of sand, flock and static grass floating on top of it. Leave well alone - it looks great!
I'm really pleased with it!
If you phone screen is GLASS, then acetone. Turns super glue into a sticky substance like bostic that can then be easily removed. But the screen must be glass because acetone will melt plastic! Hope that helps
I hope it's glass...
Acetone removes CA immediately. Test in corner first, but phone likely has a glass screen.
Will give it a try!
This is a plus one . Acetone is the way ro go. Just get nail.varnish remover...but make sure its the acetone one not the water based one.
Beautiful work, Lawrie! I love the combination of materials you've used for the scenery.
One suggestion for your ballast for future use...pour the ballast, use a 1/2-inch wide brush to sweep it into general shape, then turn the brush around and *gently* tap the tops of the rails. This will have sort of the same effect that "jacking and packing" has.
Oh thank you!
Great suggestion
Another awsome video. Looks like everyone has made a lot of progress in the last few days, its always the way. Everything is looking so good and im so looking farward to seeing it together.
Gosh, seeing all the wiring and, wow.
Thinks, well mine wont end up as dense as that, then looks at my own diagrams and... i think ill need pointers from your team 😇😇 complex wiring will always be a dark art.
Hope the full team is getting a good rest after all of the late nights. :)
Some of them did!
Ouch!! I would strongly suggest a visit to a phone repairman and getting this accident resolved.
Phone is on its last legs anyway
Rubbing alcohol does a good job removing super glue, but acetone will do it quicker on a glass surface without leaving a greasy residue.
Oh super, thanks!
That cooking sand reminds me of when I make a cheesecake or banoffee pie. It just looks so.....biscuit-y
It's q bit dry and gritty though
@@lmm true, although it would be on a beach.
Epic
Thank you very much
Last time I saw sand in a pan, it was being cleaned out in the desert. But it's always tops when the window dressing goes down.
Genuinely really impressed Laurie well done :)
Thanks so much! 😊
Very natural looking. Keep it up Lawrie !!
Thank you very much!
Super Glue de-bonder is available and it is very effective.
I'll get some
Used to be sold in pound land
Christ Lawrie!!!
Don't give up the day job!!!
Much better at modelling than singing!!!!😂😂😂
And my modelling is terrible 😂
@@lmm turned out well in the end.....No, not tge singing!!!
You all did a great job to the modules. I was very impressed by what you had done in a short period of time.
One thing I would suggest is put in a method of controlling a section of the layout to allow youngsters to have a go. On the Dawlish Warren layout Chris who owns it has dual control because on shows all the controls at the rear are for that purpose but hidden at the front are his mirrored controls for when he runs it at home. Added advantage is if keen youngsters are viewing we can unplug one of the hand held controllers and put it in the front control section so kids can drive a train.
That's a good idea
Good to see you on Sunday, it all came together on the day (even if it was a bit bent.....)
I'm amazed that it worked!
25:51 i recognize that, the mezzanine at Middleton
That it is
Dang work got me to miss it.
It was a good show!
Cooking sand for Xmas number 1 :)
Love the series, and great chatting to you at the show jeep it up :)
Thank you very much!
I think you should have left the little fellas stood on your screen !!!
But as others have said...nail varnish remover ie acetone is the way to go. Make a dam wirh sometuing it doesnt melt. Try blue tack or something. Leave to soak in.
That might make it harder to use 😂
So the engine shed is actually a railway museum? If I’m right, it’s very nice!!
You'll see!
Give the mini figure that messed up your phone a name.
It shall be remembered for such an action.
Gumshoe?
Geofferald
im just about to start work on my n gauge layout for the exhibition at bude in august
Best of luck!
Apparently a small amount of salty water (like really salty) helps with getting superglue to unstick both on skin and other surfaces.
I read on MRH that WD-40 can remove it, and in fact they even say that themselves (search "How to remove super glue from most household surfaces with WD-40").
WD-40 can really be used for everything!
Sounds like a terrible idea for electronics though
Oh really?
@@lmm yes! I have sent you the related video to your Instagram
Never clicked a video faster
Thank you!
Will you be at Model World Live at the NEC on Sunday Lawrie?
Great video and cracking progress!
Maybe - haven't decided which day yet
@@lmm If I see you, I'll make sure to say hi!
The only things i know that will shif super glue is acetone (nail polish remover)
Worth a shot
no idea what it might do to the phone screen, but I use acetone to dissolve super glue
Worth a try!
Poor Lawries neighbours always wondering why he is cooking sand at 3am
I'm sure they understood that I required more sand
Bro u should come to the iske of wight steam railway bc there doing a model railway exhibition
Might be a challenge to get everything across
@@lmm true but it would be cool
This week on LMM, Lawrie laughs at hot sand
*sings about hot sand*
What control system are you using? Is it DC or DCC?

New remix coming soon… “I’m Cooking Sand”
I am looking forward to it
Lawrie's next project, toasted sand-wiches
Hahahahah
Was breakfast for statfold a very gritty omelette?
Strangely enough yes. Another mystery we'll never solve!
I wish I was a part of this project ☹
It was a really good thing to be part of!
Could you do a n guage modular n guage layout next time just curious
Hi Lawrie
1st comment lol
2nd I'm afraid, but close!
@@lmm NO!!! Lol looks epic, I would of gone but live too far away
Superglue? phone? You DO have a screen protector don't you?
No, it fell from my pocket when filming on the footplate last summer and cracked through the protector, so it's not doing well
10:31 If the police busted in now, the sand on the frying pan would be drug tested.
Lots of the modeling supplies would be tested
I love the cave dweller...
Thank you!
At 27:32 such a beautiful shot.
Thank you!
