I would love to see a video on how you prepare your artwork files! This video was so helpful. I know this is an old video, but I hope you might still be interested in sharing your knowledge! Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching 😊 You'll find my video on how to remove backgrounds from traditional artwork here: ruclips.net/video/TxqtJ8Bxp5M/видео.html
Your art is beautiful, your dedication to sustainability is admirable, and you sharing your process with others artists is so kind!! Loving your content!
Your work is really beautiful. I just found you through your "quitting IG" video - and I'm glad. This was a very useful video! Thank you. And I'd love to know more about this process. It's great that you have a scanner and printer that allows you to manipulate your designs and print your own stock! I just painted some Christmas cards and was thinking it would be lovely to be able to copy some of the designs I made. Even better if I can move elements around and add things together.
Thank you so much! I made another video all about how to scan in and remove the backgrounds from traditional artwork. I'll leave the link to it below if it's helpful for you. Thanks again for watching 💕 ruclips.net/video/TxqtJ8Bxp5M/видео.html
You have SO inspired me Dee, thank you❤ it’s easy to be creative, BUT in order to have a little income, there is a lot of technical stuff to learn to become successful and make the processes easy, and generously sharing your knowledge is invaluable to me at my stage in life😉 I, for one, am very grateful, thank you so much x
Cant wait for your autumn collection. I love your art Dee. My enamel mug came last week and i absolutely love it. You are so blessed talented. See ya next time. 👍🤗💕
I love your videos they are wonderful and really helpful as I'm looking to make cards in the future just need to invest in the equipment. Do you have a video showing in detail how you remove the background on Photoshop, I would find this super useful. Thank you xx
Hi Jemma, thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad you found it helpful 😊 I haven't filmed that video yet but it's definitely high up on the list! Stay tuned as I've lots of tips to share 🍄 xxx
Hi Jemma, I just wanted to pop in to say that I've uploaded a vlog on how I remove the backgrounds from my artwork. You'll be able to watch it on my channel now. Hope you find it useful, thanks so much! 💕
Would love to see another video of the photoshop editing details of how you prepare your work of motif. Wow always thought 300 dpi was the best. Thanks for video
Hi there, thanks for watching! You'll find the video on how I remove the backgrounds from my traditional artwork on my channel here: ruclips.net/video/TxqtJ8Bxp5M/видео.html
Wow! It is a lot of work to transfer traditional art to digital. I wanted to reproduce some designs for my own use. It would be a whole design, so much easier than putting together so many elements. I just want really nice reproductions of holiday and gift cards to send to friends and family. It is a personal touch to paint every card but it’s a lot of work and not everyone cares enough to keep it. (I have been told my cards are now framed art, so that’s affirming!) .
Yes it can be, but it depends on your artwork and how much "cleaning up" needs done of the images. That's such a lovely holiday sentiment for your friends and family! Keep up the good work 💕
The feather artwork is awesome! I really like your card designs. I do see some similarities and differences with my card making in my own greeting card video.
Thank you so much for this video!! I’ve been wanting to open up a shop for my art but have been so scared to do it lol so I’m slightly starting to get encouraged through videos like this making everything seem a lot easier than the big monster I imagined lol. Knowledge really is power! Thank you!!
I'm actually considering doing some cards for my art business as its more difficult to find jobs to, a lot of this Is helpful and much cheaper than using vista print as they are expensive
Thank you! Yes they can be tricky. I've got another video of me painting them here: ruclips.net/video/3YJJT0NmmN8/видео.html My advice would be to try thinking of them as just dark or light. Then start painting the dark (shaded) areas and work into the light 😊 Hope this helps!
Thankyou for your lovely video. You refer to the Epson ET7700 in your video but your Amazon link is for the Epson ET2810. Which printer would you recommend or are both equally good?
Thanks for watching, so glad you found it helpful. I use both the ET7700 and the ET2810. The ET7700 is much better in my opinion, I use it for my art prints and greetings cards etc. I got the ET2810 to convert to a sublimation printer for making my mugs. Both are compact sized printer and both are now older styles of eco-tank printers. But out of the two, I recommend the ET7700, however I'm sure the newer versions will be better still. Hope this helps!
New subscriber here I love your videos, and so nice to hear a Scottish accent, I’m just across the water in Northern Ireland, can you tell me if this printer also prints A3?
Thank you soo much for sharing! Really really helpful. Have you ever considered having your cards printed by an outside company? What are the pros/cons of printing at home?
I am so bad at Photoshop! 😵💫I would really appreciate it if you could make a video of how to edit (cut+clean) images on Photoshop in order to make collages. Your art is simply amazing! 😍
Hi thanks for watching! I have a video showing this stage of the process over on my channel already. You can find find it here: ruclips.net/video/TxqtJ8Bxp5M/видео.html hope it helps! 😊
Hi, I print hundreds as I sold them on a wholesale basis to shops. I found the eco-tank printers to be the best for ink consumption and print quality. Hope this helps!
Just came across your channel, it has a real cosy vibe and your art is lovely! Thanks for sharing this. If you don't mind sharing what kind of paper do you use for your greeting cards?
Oh thank you so much, that's lovely of you to say 🥰 Yes, I share the companies I use for my cards and packaging over on my Eco-friendly packaging vlog ♻️ Thanks so much for watching!
I can’t use photoshop. Im an old school artist but I think my work lends itself to greeting cards. I have made prints etc but I just use the whole painting so there’s nothing to cut away or remove. I wish I knew photoshop. Sigh…. Thanks for the tips, I’ve subscribed.
Hi Dee, your artworks are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing about your process in the videos. Your cards look amazing. I've recently start tuning my artworks into prints and cards. However, I'm disappointed that the conversion into CMYK really changes the brightness and vibrancy of the watercolours. Looking at your lovely products I think I need to invest in a much better scan and a printer because I'm sending to Moo or Vista Print and I can't control the outcome, it's also very expensive. Do you have problems with the changes of CMYK too using your own printer?
Hi Karina, Thank you so much, I'm so pleased you found the video interesting! I completely understand the struggles of using a printing site as this is how I started too. I also had trouble getting the colours to print out how I wanted them and thats one of the main reasons why I switch to printing my own. Getting my own printer was a game changer, but it wasn't as straight forward as it looks. It definitely took me a while to figure out my print settings but it was worth it in the end. I would advise to really do your research on different printers and scanners, but you don't have to buy the most expensive. I got my scanner second hand and it's been great! 👍 Hope this helps and best of luck to you going forward 💜
Hi there. My name is Paul and I enjoyed your informative video. It is great to be able to understand the process of creating products from your artwork. May i ask please, i saw you use the A4 scanner to get your art ready for printing. I also noticed that you had a Canon printer. I was wondering, do i need to purchase a scanner seperately or could i use the one on my printer as mine is a printer-scanner that i have. Can you advise if the A4 scanner would have more features than the one i have as it looks like your printer may have a scanner built in too. I saw you take great care to crop and work your art until you were 100% happy with the outcome before printing. I need to understand this too so i am greatful for any advice you can give on this. Thankyou very much. Paul...
Hi Paul, thank you so much for watching my video and for taking the time to comment. You can use any scanner to scan your work as long as it has the capacity to scan at a high DPI. I bought the separate Epson scanner to use with my laptop, before I had my Epson printer with the built in scanner. The Epson scanner I have is an old version but it can scan at over 1200 dpi and produces very good quality scans so I've kept using it. I'm sure the built in scanner you have will be fine too, just take the time to go through the settings and make sure you are scanning in the highest quality you possibly can. Thanks again!
What do you recommend for larger artworks? I bought an A3 scanner for LP (record) sleeves many years ago and it's still working fine but with scratched glass after so long. It was relatively cheap back then (low hundreds) but the next size up (A2 and above) is ten's of thousands of pounds/dollars. At which point scans for fine art would need to be by a pro print shop. I'd prefer to keep that process in-house (done by myself) if possible.
I've never worked on that scale before so I really can't advise. Everyone I know who does uses a professional printing company to create scans of their large work. You can use Photoshop to knit several images together (if you use a smaller scanner to scan the different areas of the artwork, then Photoshop can be used to join them) but this would be quite a time consuming process to get it to match up correctly.
@@thebutterflytoadstool Thanks. I guess at that scale, you're no longer the artist, but the printmaker. Especially considering the expense of the machine in the first place.
You talk so fast that I can't understand you. If I try to use the closed captioning, I miss part of what you say because I am switching between the captions and trying to watch what you are doing. I am sorry because you are so kind to share your expertise with us.
Sorry, but if I had enough money to buy that scanner I wouldn't be a real artist and if I could understand how to use that scanner I'd be a technology expert working in the field of technology. You'll find that REAL artists aren't that good at technology.
Sorry, but I don’t understand your comment. Are you saying that I’m not a real artist because I can use a scanner? Or that you can’t be classed as an artist if you make money from your art? This “starving artist” mentality needs to stop. If an artist constantly thinks that they will never ‘make it’ or never make money from their art, then chances are they won’t. But if you do want to ‘make it’ as an artist AND make money from your art then you need to LEARN new ways to do that. You must take control of your own career, especially as an artist. So, if that means learning how to use a secondhand scanner (I bought mine secondhand from ebay for £38 and learned how to use it myself) then you should do that. An artist journey won’t evolve into a stable career if the artist isn’t willing to invest in themselves or learn new things. I can promise you; you don’t need to be a “technology expert” to use a scanner, and you don’t need to buy an expensive state-of-the-art scanner for the process that I’m sharing in this video. But if you want to turn traditional art into products, then you do need a scanner and you need to know how to use it.
Wow that is a loaded response and makes a lot of assumptions. You are entitled to your opinion of course, but there is so much valuable information being shared here that many of us appreciate.
OP, What about Graphic Designers? Animators? Cartoonists? Illustrator's? Majority of us/them use some form of technology these days with Art. As someone whose self-taught with majority of everything, I thrive off the fact I taught myself Art AND Technology - sounds like you need to too, OP!

Another amazing video many thanks. Once you've printed out your greeting cards, do you have to fix the colours in any way?
No, not at all. Once they are printed they are ready 😊
New subscriber here I love your videos, and so nice to hear a Scottish accent, I’m just across the water in Northern Ireland, can you tell me if this printer also prints A3?
Do the colours on your cards when printed run if they get wet... Looking at the same printer, hope you can help.
Thank you soo much for sharing! Really really helpful. Have you ever considered having your cards printed by an outside company? What are the pros/cons of printing at home?
So glad you found it helpful! Yes, I tried a few print companies before printing myself but this way worked best for me 😊
Please advise how to collage over greeting cards that already have a printed image on them.
Hi!
What is the weight (gsm) of your cardstock you use for your cards? Can it go through your Epson printer smoothly with no problems?
Hi, it's 300g and yes it prints easily 😊

What info goes on the back of the cards? I'm planning to sell at shops, do I need any legal info on the back?
what card do you use I can't find any that has good quality
There are lots out there! I've put together a video of all the card stock I use. You can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/bKHcr9WIJ-Y/видео.html 😊
how much ink do you go through?
I refill maybe 3 times a year? I think it's good for the amount I print 😊
