This embodies a shame I relate to. Her haunting portrayal of her spirit suffering through this human experience is so gorgeous. Thank you for transmuting this pain into such a raw and beautiful reality.
What experience is she singing about?
@@Daruma_Studio I don't know if it's any specific experience, rather I think this song is about deep shame and being willing to suffer: "Lay back in salt", maybe "salting" herself as salting the earth to curse anyone who tries to rebuild on it. All of this to feel forgiven, how she'd be willing to sacrifice a piece of herself (won't speak at all) in exchange for another (singing again).

The studio version is so lovely n polished...and this one is so raw and vulnerable. it blows the studio version out of the water. for a moment, i forgot i was not in the same room as Emma.

I keep coming back to this version. Emma’s voice is amazing and conveys a lot of the feelings I feel I am unable to. But, there’s something about the guitar solo in this that gives me chills and puts me on the brink of tears every time. It encapsulates a certain type of angry grief and longing for me
