The main difference between Alex and other performers is.. well, look at him. In all his performances he is enjoying himself while playing. He loves being in a stage, loves entertaining people.
Charisma like that infects everyone that happens to be seeing him.

Compare with the video you suggested. Alexander Rybak plays better. He plays a mentally give all forces. His violin like crying. Look how he is tired at the end.
