Agree. What I'm personally annoyed of is that basically all of the previous supports for new characters perform subpar in contrast to the astral ring niche. There isn't really any room for trying different things, as everything is set in stone if you want to perform properly, as well as the accommodating abyss/arena weathers. Well, unlike others I haven't played HI3 for a long time, but the powercreep in this game is absurd.

On top of that, if you even miss one of the Part 2 valk/astralop then your rotation, abyss, and arena is fckd. In the part 2 you can't skip a valk like part 1, it will have a huge impact on team composition

I prefer to think that they're setting groundwork to some extent. It's possible the idea is to set a basis for the Astral Ring rotation with these four S-ranks (one of each damage type) and afterward they'll slow down a bit and space them out more. Of course, it's entirely possible that's just wishful thinking, and I'm prepared to eat those words.
I bet they will make her a playable valk later on. They may have released her as an astral op first to cash out on her fans who otherwise wouldn't pull an astralop.
So...if you have Sena and Thelema, it is already enough to have a good team for Songque, to that we add that Lantern improves Thelema's team not much, the reasons to go for Lantern only decrease...and later comes the rerun from Thelema, it's easy to know who to look for.
At last, after these two release, ajita will be the only shu left. This can go one of two ways: 1. They start introducing another 200 new characaters or 2. We go back to part 1 characters(pls i really want playable timido). I also hope we go back to having sp ranks, i can't keep up with back to back s ranks

If you already have Sena and Thelema, skipping Lantern is fine. While Lantern is the best support for a Physical Astral Ring Valk because of CRIT Buffs, Sena and Thelema can still support Physical since they have physical damage and total damage multiplier, and can extend Rondo buff if Songque uses WoD. If she uses WS then Coralie can still support her too. Without Lantern, Songque's mechanic won't be clunky if you have both Sena and Thelema.

Usually, new unit releases should be a reason for hype, but the recent releases feel like impending doom. Not only is Flamescion Kiana replaced by Lantern, but they indirectly stomped the new Fu Hua into the ground as well, because almost every fire weather will be MECH thanks to Lantern being PSY. And now, what's even worse is they made Songque a STARDUST physical unit, which basically directly translates to "yeah, fk your Seele/Senti/Dreamweaver valks", as they won't be even remotely close to dealing proper damage against any kind of stardust weather type opponents thanks to some ridiculous inherited damage reduction. Outside of maybe SD Griseo bleed team this will be yet another abyss weather completely monopolized by a single unit, even only in Red Lotus.

Meanwhile in Part 1 and 1.5, in 4 patches the pulls can varied from literally 650 to 900 pulls. If you ask me, Lantern's patch can be seen as a breather patch since if you have Sena and Thelema they can still support Songque so skipping her is possible, they gave Lantern CRIT buffs for bait. You might be thinking SP Valk patches are also a breather patch, but again you be suffering with lower scores against people who pulled for them. That's why you can substitute them like people skipped Kira and cope with Pardo and Eden's gears on her. Same thing can also happen here, skip Lantern and let Sena and Thelema cover for Songque.
@@inari.gaming incorrect. In genshin and hsr you DON'T need the weapon, usually free lightcones are adequate even for moc12, it's more a matter of relics. In HI3 you don't have signature weapon = you are fucked, your only option is some OTHER GACHA weapon, and it would be like 70% of performance in best case. Part 2 have additional problem because they do not work with old valks, so you MUST pull every new S rank, and the fact they are relased back-to-back doesn't help, it really means f2p are not welcomed anymore.
@@shinhikaru 150 pulls is 42K crystals, f2p income is like 16-18K per patch, so you need to skip 2 patches and pull in every third. In part 1 there was calm patches with supports, and you can use free older valks to get to RL (like I STILL use HoR+SoE) for example, with part 2 valks you don't have that option anymore and MUST pull every patch which is impossible for f2p.
Some people are still complaining about getting 4 S-Ranks in a row, but if we follow the math for a guarantee Valk. It's still very cheap compared to Part 1 in 4 patches. In 4 Patches of Part 2, for a guarantee 4/4 Valk you only need 600 pulls. Now let's take an example about how many pulls per 4 patches in Part 1, for example I'm using version 6.9 to 7.2 since I think this is the cheapest one in Part 1 and 1.5. 50 (Sirin is free, Stigmata are Craftable, weapon guaranteed at 50 pulls) + 300 (Luna 4/4) + 120 (Griseo 4/4) + 240 (SS FoV with 2 Stigmata and Weapon from Box costs 190 pulls, last stigmata piece cost 50) = 720 pulls I'm 4 patches. It's still cheaper in Part 2 despite having 4 S Ranks in a row. While yes, you need every Valk in Part 2 to make P2 team extremely powerful, but you don't have the limitation of SP Valks guarantee sabotaging your pulls, and if you skip the SP Valk gears in release, getting them in reruns are much more expensive, and you still need to have a 12/12 team to make your valk extremely powerful to use.

In HI3 you don't have signature weapon = you are fucked, your only option is some OTHER GACHA weapon, and it would be like 70% of performance in best case. Part 2 have additional problem because they do not work with old valks, so you MUST pull every new S rank, and the fact they are relased back-to-back doesn't help, it really means f2p are not welcomed anymore.
@@shinhikaru 150 pulls is 42K crystals, f2p income is like 16-18K per patch, so you need to skip 2 patches and pull in every third. In part 1 there was calm patches with supports, and you can use free older valks to get to RL (like I STILL use HoR+SoE) for example, with part 2 valks you don't have that option anymore and MUST pull every patch which is impossible for f2p.

Some people are still complaining about getting 4 S-Ranks in a row, but if we follow the math for a guarantee Valk. It's still very cheap compared to Part 1 in 4 patches. In 4 Patches of Part 2, for a guarantee 4/4 Valk you only need 600 pulls. Now let's take an example about how many pulls per 4 patches in Part 1, for example I'm using version 6.9 to 7.2 since I think this is the cheapest one in Part 1 and 1.5. 50 (Sirin is free, Stigmata are Craftable, weapon guaranteed at 50 pulls) + 300 (Luna 4/4) + 120 (Griseo 4/4) + 240 (SS FoV with 2 Stigmata and Weapon from Box costs 190 pulls, last stigmata piece cost 50) = 720 pulls I'm 4 patches. It's still cheaper in Part 2 despite having 4 S Ranks in a row. While yes, you need every Valk in Part 2 to make P2 team extremely powerful, but you don't have the limitation of SP Valks guarantee sabotaging your pulls, and if you skip the SP Valk gears in release, getting them in reruns are much more expensive, and you still need to have a 12/12 team to make your valk extremely powerful to use.
