- This was an AWESOME shoot! In my day in the life of a videographer, we go behind the scenes on a major shoot in our film studio 🔥
We had such a fun time creating this full day in the life of a videographer. It's something I've wanted to do for a while and we finally had the chance to bring you on a behind the scenes videography shoot in our film studio.
This project was for a major paint brand in the UK and we had to produce 5 videos in the day! We had many challenges, one of which was making the studio environment seem like it was outside!
In this vlog, I also tried to include lots of tips and advice to help other videographers who want to know how to manage video production shoots and give you a good idea of a life of a videographer.
If you liked this video and want to see more videographer day in the life type videos, please let me know in the comments below 🙋♂️

Been stoked for this video! Love what you guys are doing Ross. I found your channel after failing miserably at starting a video production company. The last 3 years I’ve been stuck in the trap of listening to people who only want to talk about cameras and are vague or clueless on the business. You guys have totally shifted my perspective on what it means to be a fulfilled and profitable content creator. No pun intended. Tho I’m having to recoup from my previous loss I’m taking in all of your valuable information and hoping to start again soon!😁 thanks a ton!
Hey Tevin! Thanks so much for the support and you are very welcome 🤜🤛 keep pushing dude and you'll be in a much better position as a result ⚡🔥
love this kind of video
Thanks !!! 👊
Definitely would appreciate more
just the video i was looking for XD 😊😁 thank you for sharing 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Awesome video Ross! Always love a good BTS! Would be great to more of these 😊
Thanks Brad! It seems to have got a good reception so it's looking promising 🙌
Great one🔥🔥🔥
🙌🙌🙌
This was really helpful Ross, I've been struggling with getting momentum on my video business but I am really trying to buckle down. This behind-the-scenes really helps inspire me to go and get those leads that I know I need and to prepare myself better to better serve them and earn their trust.
loved this! super informative and well shot as always. thank you
Thanks so much 👊
Impressive level of planning and technical skill goes into what looks like it should be such a simple process, fascinating insight!
Thanks!! 👌
this was so good to watch and see how you work in this envioment and the tips you give thank you :)
You're welcome 😊 🤜🤛
Love your content, this video is something I've been waiting for you to do. Love to See more content like that and also the final video and some video about how to think of the video you gonna make and the prosses of editing.
👊 thanks so much! Sounds awesome!
This is a very nice video, do you have a video that lays out how to organize a shot sheet the way you do?
Hey! We don't at the moment but I'll add this to my ideas sheet for videos 👌
These BTS videos are definitely the type of content I'm looking for too as a freelance video creator. Case in point, I was asking a friend about top-down rigs as I was struggling to keep my camera 100% flat when rigging it upside down on a c-stand. Came here and saw how you guys did it and sparked some ideas!
Loved every minute of it 👍 I want to know more about your history; how did you get started running a Production company with a huge studio and all? I mean, did you need to loan a pile of money, or did you save up enough so it didn’t keep you up at night, or how did you do it?
Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing insight into your work. More like this would be great.
Thanks Frank!
Great 👍
The good thing most shot done inside studio!
Good job
🙏🏼 thanks!
Always enjoy bts and breakdowns to see how others think. Thanks for sharing, my man!
You're very welcome!!! I had loads of fun making it so I was hoping that you guys enjoyed it, so I can make more 😂😂🙌
@@RossWelch definitely. I think seeing the process is really valuable in addition to more theory/tips content. 👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome video. Would love to see more. I always enjoy behind the scene videos.
Ah that's sick!! I'm so glad you liked it. I was hoping it would get a good response so that I can make more 😂👊
Love these man, thanks for sharing.
No problem dude!
Really love the BTS, it was very entertaining but would of love to see the resulted product video. That would had been the cherry on the cake
Thanks dude! Once the videos are done I'll post them in the community chat 👌
@@RossWelch awesome can't wait to watch it.
Mhhh, more BTS, yes please.
🙌
Great video mate, this is exactly the sort of content I'm mainly looking for on YT, so yes, happy thank you more please!
Perhaps even go further into the details of the filmmaking side of things, like explaining compositions and why you chose them, focal length, frame rates and why you'd shoot a certain clip in slo-mo or why you didn't, etc. Mainly just getting further into the nitty gritty with added notes on your reasoning behind the choices. Cheers! /Fred
Awesome Fred, really appreciate the feedback and support 🙌
Really interesting to see how you are working!
🙌 I'm glad you liked it
What is that pole you mounted your BMPCC6KPRO to? I've needed to rig up some cstands like that before. Ended.up using a varipole but it was a bit thick.
Hey James, it was a simple steel tube over the c stand arms and then a manfrotto super clamp and extended arm that connected the camera 👌
Loved this bts video, but would you mind sharing how you got this client?
Hey! We've actually worked with them for a while and they came through a referral from another client 👌
@@RossWelch pretty sick.
Right now our team is working on building subscription based content plans for our clients because of you. Hoping it will bring us in some more consistent revenue.
Appreciate what you do brother, keep it up!
Kollam mone 🍎▶️
🤘
So valuable yes please do more BTS!!
Thanks Nathan 👌😊
Awesome video, Ross! And thank you for sharing it with us! Eagerly waiting for more like this!
And highlighting that scheduling and having a plan is extremely important, especially when there is a team, and everyone except for you wants to go home xD
Would that be possible to shoot with lets say some basic camera as G85, and how worse the results would have been comparing to the gear you had used? In other words, what's the best "starter pack" production camera you would recommend?)
you can 100% use your g85 just learn how to best use the dynamic range available to your camera. It is more important to shoot at the right time of day when the sun is in the perfect position or to light your scene correctly then use expensive cameras. plus they are only using fs7s which are arguably outdated and are only really used because they are industry standard and "look" like a professional video camera
100% as Joe said! FS7s are cheap, provide good images and fit the part but there are so many DSLRs that are better. The main thing is to "just hit record" and start learing and creating! (That's taken from Think media 😂)
Even for this shoot we don't have all the equipment we needed and it goes to show that you can work for major brands, keep them happy and provide decent content while keeping in line with their budgets! Good luck dude 🔥🙌
@@RossWelch thank you gentlemen for the detailed answers!
Does business have drones also
Yep, we have drones and fpv drones too!
@@RossWelch can you make video of that also
I'm trying to start a drone company but I want advice on which drone I must invest in?
