Thank you for this video! Very few videos about this amazing mushroom. Question: what kind of spawn do you use? Grain spawn or sawdust spawn? Thanks a lot!
Great question. Yes, you can overwater so it's best to dig around a little in an area and make sure the soil is damp, but not wet enough to be able to squeeze a lot of water out of it. A drop or two is about all you would want if you squeeze really hard. And if we're thinking of the same bugs, they neither help nor harm the mushrooms, so you can leave them be. :)
Hello. I have a question. Among edible Agaricus (button mushroom, almond mushroom, field mushroom, horse mushroom, Prince mushroom, etc.) which one can be easily cultivated outdoor on garden bed on non sterilized or pasteurized substrates? Thank you!
Yes. Almond Agaricus need to be watered lightly almost daily. Usually when companion planting with other crops if you are watering your plants regularly that amount of moisture suffices.
@@FieldandForestProducts To kind of add to this, if working in an open area with partial sun, should I spray down the bed after finishing construction, and continue to do so during colonization?
@@kevinbush6698 I would spray down the bed lightly after construction. The best way to tell when you need more water is to occasionally scrap aside your wood chips or straw and if the surface feels damp you do not need to further water the bed, however if it looks and feels dry you should water the bed.
We have grown them in this method, but they do prefer cooler fruiting temperatures. Also Bitorquis was bred for more of a pasteurized method, so you will want to make sure you have a vigorous strain!
These are my people! I bought mushroom spawn from them for over 10 years and their phone line Support has been phenomenal. Much gratitude!♥️👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️🌹
Thank you Kent! We appreciate you!
Very nicely made video. Explains the process and then shows clearly how it is done. Good job!
Thank you!
Thank you so much!

We use sawdust spawn for Almond Agaricus.
Thank youuu! I bought the almond agaricus mushrooms. Question: can I overwater? Are a lot of pill (rolly polly) bugs bad for these mushrooms?

Almond agaricus is probably your best bet, but you will need to be diligent about water management!
Do you need to water it at all?
Yes. Almond Agaricus need to be watered lightly almost daily. Usually when companion planting with other crops if you are watering your plants regularly that amount of moisture suffices.
Should they be kept at that moisture level the entire growing season?
Yes, if you can. The casing layer gives you some buffer time, but water management is important!

Can this method work for other Agaricus species, like Bitorquis or Arvensis?
We have grown them in this method, but they do prefer cooler fruiting temperatures. Also Bitorquis was bred for more of a pasteurized method, so you will want to make sure you have a vigorous strain!

Where in Wisconsin are you located?
We are in Northeast Wisconsin on the border of the Upper Peninsula.
Any fruiting happened yet
Yes! Just started getting fruiting. We needed the temperatures to drop a bit, but they're coming on!
@@FieldandForestProducts oh I can't wait for an update.
