  • Another tribute to Pungent Stench and to their awesome second album "been caught buttering". The music is taken from the album of course and the liveclip is actually from 1990 bootleg where they play this tune 'sputter supper' about a year before the album was released, great stuff, check it out here in its' original form:

Pungent Stench's second album certainly more than continued from where they left off with amazing debut album 'for god your soul'. I ordered the album instantly as CD before hearing anything from it, the debut album was such a strong effort. I remember at first being surprised with the production / overall soundscapes of 'been caught buttering' but the feeling started to diminish pretty soon and the music started growing and fast. And it certainly did grew, an amazing album which doesn't lose a bit to debut album - it manages to improve in some ways. Yeah, bassguitar sound is not so demonic sounding anymore, but the music is certainly strong. And the experimental elements work really well, too. I listened this album a lot back in 1991-1993 and it's a joy to return to, tens of years later. Timeless release for sure.
    Enjoy!
Should sometimes make some kind of comparison, I don't know if I'm the only one but around late 1990s at some point I realized that one old speed metal favorite of mine (Bulldozer) has certain kind of similarish aura to their material, the attitude and the music - especially comparing Bulldozer's album from 1986 'the final separation' and Pungent Stench's 'been caught buttering' from 1991. There are some similarities that at least I acknowledge. But well, if I have time at some point, perhaps ... that's another story.
