  • Before his passing, Mamady's wish was to be buried in his birth village of Balandugu in Guinea, West Africa.
This is a testimony of the effort made by his children, his griot and his students towards fulfilling his final wish.
Presented from the perspective of Kelvin Kew, this is a story of what happened during the journey as they accompany master djembefola Mamady Keïta to his final resting place.

Wow, thank you Kevin for making this video. We are children of the djembe, somehow along the way we all found Mamady Keita, who became the the mentor, the teacher, the father, the inspiration of our experience. I am a Chinese live in Canada, had the fortune to meet Mamady in 3 different occasions. The experience of playing djembe has been great, thank you Mamady.

International Mamady was the class of Mory Kante', they have raised the honour of Guineans to the highest level. I used to celebrate Guinean's independence day with Europeans friends by playing your video from the world's tours. You have well accomplished your mission toward our Guinea. RIP

Wow the way you make this video from the King that makes the djembe the Emperor of instruments allaround the world is amazing. I'm so happy that I could be with all in this way possible to honer Mamady Keita. He still is and always will be the voice of the djembé until eternity.

I've tried several times to watch this - I'm forcing myself this time - start to finish. it's blurry AF because I can't stop bawling my eyes out. Much love to you guys for putting this together - and for honoring Baba in the best way possible. This must have been a most difficult journey for all of you. be blessed 😌🙏🏼💜
