hi Dane I think you might be thinking of hay. the purpose of wrapping it is that so it keeps its nutritional value so it can be fed to cattle to replace the need of so much grass in paddocks. hay is dry and does not hold much nutritional value and is dry so so does not need to be wrapped but it does need to be stored out of the weather.
also another thing. hay is more of a filler and does not carry enough nutrition to keep cattle producing milk. also silage is wrapped in bales or covered with plastic on a stack as if green grass will sweat and may cause a fire if stored in a shed wheres hay is try so it cannot sweat and catch fire unless someone puts a match to it!
What type of netting is used to keep that bale in shape? If the bale is used for feeding, is the netting made from some sort of edible material? Or do you need to remove it first in order to use it for feeding?
It depends ALOT on where in the world you are, how much fertilizer (or poop) you use, what kind of roundbaler (some make more compact bales wich contain more hay in them than others) and weather can also vary, so its hard to say
well. if it has been raining alot then no you need to wait for it to dry out before cutting or cut it then turn it a while later. if it is dry then yes you can bale straight away. if you cut it on a very hot windy day then you need to be careful as the longer it sits there the dryer it will become. on most hot days we had the mower right in front of the rake and the baler right after that. so yes you can bale green grass as long as it is no wet.
wheres the wrapped silage can be left outside as it is vacuum packed and when it gets opened 5 months later it will just as much or more nutritional value at it did before it got cut.
Yes, doesnt apply. Because they are not continuous working machines - nobody did state something like that, did anybody? If you would like to use continuous working combibalers, you need several things first: A bigger tractor and...... A bigger bunch of money. Then you may have a look at a Krone Ultima (or something aquivalent.......)
+Lance Andrus It takes a minimum of 4 layers of plastic to get the silage to even keep. 6 layers if you want to do the best job you can, 6 layers is also usually required if you're going to handle them a lot getting them home, not as easy to damage the plastic that way. So it's not too much, just a lot. Plastic isn't cheap, here in the US, it costs about $2.50 per bale to wrap with 4 layers and about $3.75 for 6 layers.
what a waste of fuel and plastic..go 20 feet make a bail stop idle forever use plastic there aremachines that dont uses plastic and roll as you do it pooing out the back

Thanks for the info! So to prepare the bale for feeding the netting has to be removed first, right?
Fresh baled hay? Wouldn't wrapping it in plastic cause mold due to high moisture content?

I have a question ... how many round bales produces a hectare ??
It depends ALOT on where in the world you are, how much fertilizer (or poop) you use, what kind of roundbaler (some make more compact bales wich contain more hay in them than others) and weather can also vary, so its hard to say

It is very modern technology, like it.
can the deere continue to bale while wrapping like the McHale?

Of these machines, wich one is the best?
how long does 1 of the rolls of wrap last?
The hay gets sour because of the lack of oxygen. if its to dry you may get mold if youre not using acid additive
but where are the welger tornado????
En que país están haciendo esta demostración? Excelente trabajo!

WTH - they have to stop?!!!So the word continuous does not seem apply then.

tres joli travail!!!superbe................
It seems to me that these machines wrap the bales far too many times....a waste that just fills the landfills

Most of those machines never took of.
So, it turns grass into marshmallows?
for making fermented grass, or silage, animal feed. often mixed with regular hay and straw.
Bonjour Monsieur vous ète con
Tom thx they turn them into silage bales
John Deere 678 or 744 is the best baler!
Krone is better!
no. Wrapper is too slow! And the bales are not brilliant. John Deere makes perfect compressed bales, square bales.
@2703Susann
Takes way too much time continually stopping to wait for wrap cycle
I didn't seen before like this matchine it's great
good video, nice to see all those balers in one video.
so happy love it
@endamc79 agree and on seeing them McHale all the way!!

That’s a lot of wrap on a small round bale

That little wad of grass hanging on the drap of the Orkel is buggging me.
McHale problem with wrapping always
No, McHale wraps away with no problems. My contractor has one for years now.

MUY BUENO

so easy to work with m/c
