Santa Fe Railway had beautiful full dome passenger cars built by the Bud Company. Much, much nicer than Amtrak dome cars.

Which "Amtrak dome cars" are you referring to? Amtrak received their dome cars from the passenger railroads that ceased operation in 1971. Many were made by Budd, and most older than Santa Fe's Hi-Level cars.
