If it were easy, more people would have done it. It is so rare as to be nearly impossible - jazz pianist, film composer, classical orchestra director, classical pianist. And to be at the very top in those worlds. Thank you, Maestro Previn
Like many jazz fans of the 50's, I wore out my vinyl copy of "Modern Jazz Performances of My Fair Lady." Shelly, Andre and Leroy swung like mad!! I was so lucky to here and see these guys live. RIP, Mr. Previn.
Andre Previn simply was a genius musician. To do all that he did from playing, composing, conducting, he did it all. Who does that? His interview with Oscar Peterson here on RUclips is must see. A really nice man too. He is missed.

I salute a great man. Hail Andre Previn a great man.
Houston Symphony was sure blessed having Sir Andrea Ludwig Previn as their conductor for. Few years.
Maestro Previn, my favorite musician.
made it look so easy
a humble genius
much beloved
A sad loss indeed, I have so much of his jazz playing in my collection and it is all awesome. He was the consummate, all round musician.
R.I.P. Maestro, Andre Previn. ♫ ♪♫♪
I know nothing about jazz but this is surely quite stunning playing?
You said it, daddio. Inspired by Art Tatum and Oscar Peterson, probably.
Previn and Bernstein are [retty much at the top of the heap when it comes to being complete musicians from the USA.
Mr Preview was really good..
Rubbish. For another four pounds they could have gotten Edward Heath.
Art Tatum + the precision and articulation of classical musicianship.
Extraordinary!
Most melodic, just like Oscar !
RIP, Andre

RIP Maestro Previn...
I prefer this version over the one he recorded on the Bells Are Ringing LP.
PIANISTA DIRETTORE JAZZ DI FAMA MONDIALE!! CON UNO SWING UNICO !!

You can see and hear Tatum's influence

Are the bass player and drummer twins?
What show did this air on?
Right there to learn from …or you could go buy a book on jazz theory? Personally I'd do both.
ok
ANDRE PRIVETT PLAYING ALL THE RIGHT NOTES BUT NOT NESASELERY IN THE RIGHT ORDER
