I've had a keyboard gathering dust in my garage for about two years and I decided to pick it up again about a week ago. I'm starting from the absolute bottom, being a complete beginner and in THREE hours of practice I have been able to play this with both hands; something I've never been able to do before. Kind sir, you've stuck my heart deeply with this unexpected & incredibly patient tutorial. Satie's influence in this piece catapults me ... yo, catapults me. I'm experiencing myself ten years past, supremely vulnerable! Sitting in what might be confused as a janitors closet teaching myself piano in between classes (incl. Gymnopédie No.1!! oy, the breath of those whole tones ). I haven't played piano in years, nor have I commented on a RUclips video, but now I'm thinking it's time. Hello RUclips, hello piano. Whatever happens next is curious and completely dependent on how brave I feel about procuring a piano. Okay all bla bla aside: you're a stunner for posting this video.

His advice to take it slowly and focus intently on just the little areas you find difficult is worth its weight in gold! Most people just mindlessly bang it out over and over and develop bad habits. It takes a diligent person to actually follow his advice and realize the benefits.
I completely agree. We’re witnessing a true artist that has spent most likely their lifetime with the craft, and just breaks it down and simple words, but yet conveys how important it is to take things, slow and less banging and more music :-)

Hey Patrick, I have been following your music since 2009 and love the piano tutorials as I play piano myself. I was wondering if you would be able to teach us how to play Strange Rain as it is my favourite song and I have been trying to learn it for a couple months now.
