    For students that use a laptop that you can digitally write on (i.e. Microsoft Surface,) this makes note taking even more convenient. You can use this monitor as a second screen while using your laptop as your digital notepad. The Surface was able to power the monitor directly from one of its USB ports.

      @@derpydude7000 Well, I have 2 now..
      One is an extra monitor for my desktop to help with WFH. I use a "gooseneck tablet holder" to hold it above my main monitors at an angle, for Netflix/Spotify.
      The other one stays in my backpack. Im occasionally "on-call" as a sysadmin, it helps to be able to setup a real workstation anywhere I am. Especially since "Work from Home" is essentially "Work from anywhere" now...
      It also is nice for gaming on the go, I've used it at friends houses with my OG Xbox (diy'd a 'Xbox2Hdmi'), N64 (UltraHDMI), and Xbox One X.

    The world needs more of these usb powered portable monitors with HDMI.
    Since a couple of years ago, there were a lot of portable monitors that used only USB for power and video display, and I really couldn't find myself wanting to buy one.
    These newer ones make a ton more sense.
    Hope that the plastic in there is all matte and I can see that the panel itself is matte, so all good for me there.

    Hey there! Thanks for the detailed review of the Lepow 15.6" portable monitor. It sounds like a versatile device, especially with the USB Type-C and HDMI capabilities. I'm considering getting one myself, but I have a few questions:
    1. How's the overall build quality of the monitor? Does it feel sturdy and durable?
    2. Can you comment on the color accuracy and viewing angles of the IPS display?
    3. Have you experienced any latency issues when using it for gaming or other tasks?
    4. Does it come with a protective case or cover for when you're on the go?
    I appreciate your insights, and they will help me make an informed decision. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this product!

    I dug up my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and powered it using a CanaKit 2.5A Micro USB Power Supply. I then used a USB Type-C cable to try and power the monitor from one of the Pi's USB ports. The monitor works fine but the Pi could not boot up completely. I got an under voltage error with the yellow blinking lightning bolt in the top right corner of the screen. So at least with this particular power supply it is a no go in powering both devices using a single CanaKit 2.5A Micro USB Power Supply.
    On the bright side, I was able to power both the monitor and the Pi using my Tzumi - PocketJuice 20,000 mAh Portable Charger with output rated at 5V/4.2A max for a completely portable experience!

    It's insane that you can run a 15 inch laptop screen with 1080p quality (better then my current laptop screen) at any location with only a small slim USB C cable. Imagine being stuck in an airport or coach station for several hours or possibly over night. Using a phone screen is okay but watching a movie or TV Show or playing a game say on your PS4 plugged into the airport plug socket + 15 inch screen would be such an awesome way to pass the time. I really want to get this one but I don't think they sell to the UK. Are there any UK sellers you'd recommend for around £100-150. All the ones with USB C and slim design are £200 or £200+

I would love to see a Pi-Top with this monitor, but I don't have anywhere near the skill and exactly none of the tools to do something so complicated. It would probably be like when Ben Heck converted an XBox 360 into a laptop. I'd love to see someone do it but haven't found anything like it yet. Overall, a good review. It would have been helpful however if you had mentioned that an Apple lightning to hdmi adaptor was necessary in order to display my iPhone screen onto this monitor. I priced the adaptor at Best Buy and Apple wants $54. for it. Gotta love Apple!

    • @danielxmiller
      @danielxmiller 4 года назад

      Not trying to be mean or anything, but why wouldn't a lightning to hdmi adapter be necessary? The iPhone doesn't have a usb-c or hdmi port on it. He showed in the beginning of the video what cords come with the monitor.

    • @phillyflash2
      @phillyflash2 4 года назад

      danielxmiller Yes, you are correct. I am new to this and thought that Lepow should have spelled it out that a lightning to hdmi was necessary to make it work.
      In any event, I bought the adapter and all is well.

      @@phillyflash2 I would agree with you if he was using an iPhone to connect his monitor, but he was using a Samsung, which connects with the cords provided and doesn't need an adapter for his use. At any rate, glad you were able to figure it out. :)

    *"it can be power by a cell phone battery bank"* that's great since I have some lying around anyway. BUT, basic requirement is ONLY 5 watts (1 amp, 5 volts)? Amazing. I have an Asus Chromestick and a Lenovo Windows stick and both are craving some monitor love, but I have run out of places to put a "real" monitor. Maybe this? Not to mention my Dell Venue 8 Windows tablet etc. I can see a lot of use cases for a 15.6" universal monitor (C? yes; HDMI? yes) (well, not very Apple friendly but that's on Apple not Lepow).

    I have a 17" Gaems portable monitor, uses micro usb but has no speakers. This seems much more useful than that one. What would happen if you hooked a Nintendo Switch usb-c to usb-c? Would it work as an external monitor or would you need the dock?
