🤣🤣
Yes
Now both of these people are dead, and the telethon doesn’t go on anymore. There’s a couple generations now who never heard of Jerry Lewis or MD. Instead of awareness and contributions now no one gives a crap.
Wish Jerry he was more charitable with his own kids! A hypocrite.. Well done Donahue u grilled him
Jerry Lewis was a monster.
Didn’t realize Donahue was such a communist
Phil is totally arrogant. What is Phil doing for those in need?
Rock-a-Bye, ya Babyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!
Was Jerry Lewis paid for the telethon?
5:06 "There are only 10 or 12 situations in the country today that need to be addressed. "
Jerry Lewis loses the audience about 46 minutes in. If Donahue was trying to expose the mean-streak in Lewis, he set that up brilliantly.
Basically this was the exchange...
Woman in audience: *sheepishly* Eh I really dislike telethons, they make me cringe, so I don't watch them.
Jerry Lewis: *bitingly sarcastic* You must like Nazis.
Audience: shocked silence/then rather loud groaning at Lewis
That's too bad, I love Jerry Lewis he was a great man, brilliant and decent and a Humanitarian PERIOD!!!!!
This reminds of how much I hated Phil Donahue.
JERRY LEWIS LOOKS LIKE HE IS SITTING WITH A BUNCH OF FOOL'S
Jerry make Phil look like an ass
@14:22 "and I never liked you or your show." I never liked Phil Donahue either. He was such an instigator. Did Marlo Thomas put him up to do this interview/critique? Dinah Shore was a much better host in her shows. 😁
He was a great entertainer…but a tad of a womanizer. But him without sin. I do believe the Martin Lewis thing is that they both wanted to be the star.
It’s unfortunate Jerry wasn’t kind to his own sons.
Because he didn't leave them his money and expected them to work for themselves like Jerry did?
If they only knew back then how much destruction was coming to America
Donahue was so forward thinking.
LOL, try a card-carrying leftist.
@@brycspain So agree just a bit to the left. He should have been a damn Kennedy. My God Donahue make s all of them look mainline.
Jerry was CLEVER!!! He is basically full proof! He covered all his tracks so that nobody can criticize him. It always falls back on him being a “saint!” If you criticize him, then you are criticizing the helping of crippled children. He has a green light to be narcissistic on his telethons. Say what you want about him, but he definitely has a God complex! How can you criticize a host that is such a “do-gooder?!” Also, is it truly altruistic if he presents HIMSELF in front of the television cameras as the ONE who is making all this goodness possible? It wasn’t called the muscular dystrophy telethon, it wasn’t called Labor Day Telethon… It was called the Jerry Lewis Telethon
You sure get triggered easily.
@@Winterstick549 nah, just fascinating! He is one of the great enigmas of all time! Incidentally, his biological daughter is also homeless and penniless
@@TiltBrook Excellent points
@@TiltBrooknobody is perfect Jerry had his demons like we all do. But he did alot of good and helped and inspired so many. A perfectionist in his work and yes a bit egomaniac narcissist but most successful people are
Phil is very sanctimonious. Not a good look
I would like to know how much did Jerry spend on operating costs for the telethons? Space rental; lighting; staff etc....It does take "professionals" to run charities. Jerry was a real saddist creep when it came to women in the bedroom.
Sim eu soube o que ele fazia para as atrizes
He was? Where's your proof? Do you have facts or hearsay? Or one of those believe all women nonsense?
I had forgotten how smug and snotty Phil Donahue was.
I have to say this: Jerry came off passionately and factually in this, while Phil, as Jerry stated, constantly generaized.
His entire shtick is so contrived. He got worse after he married Lady Nose Bob.
Let's not forget Phil being a huge hypocrite. He criticizes Jerry here, but he was married to Marlo Thomas, who's father, Danny Thomas was the founder of St Jude's Childrens Cancer Research Hospital. He was constantly on TV as a spokesperson for them. Where is Phil's problem with his father-in-law helping helping children. Any family that cannot afford care for their child who has cancer, can go there, free of charge. Jerry was doing basically the same thing. I see nothing wrong with it.
Yes. A typical liberal
That makes both of them then ! 😏
Jerry actually looks kind of like a white-face Farrakhan. Never noticed that before.
45:46
They keep trying to shut the black man down.
Jerry never understood this. He was locked into the pity and condescension approach that became more outdated every year he was on.
