I quit playing for nearly 20 years as I used to get so stressed out over the damn game. The pressure wasn't worth it. In the past two years I've approached the game again with a new perspective. In my new beginning, I didn't even keep score... I didn't care about the score... I trained myself to enjoy it shot by shot and just appreciate the beauty of being out there. Now I love golf again as I did in the very beginning. Thanks again Dave for such an honest and humbling video.

Thanks for this Dave. I can hit a bucket of perfect balls on the range but the moment I step onto the course I don't take any of that skill with me. This is a really good video because it addresses the mental aspect of the game, something that all instructors seem to skip but affects me so much.

We dont hear mush about this side of the game.
And it is a very important part.
    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Dave... our own minds are the biggest obstacle - that inner chatter pisses me off - I hate it!! Ignoring it is the key to golf/ life in general, difficult to do for sure, but essential for your sanity! It’s a struggle for sure... 🙏

Wow Dave, I feel like your in my head taking notes every time I play golf. This is really good stuff. Another false self thought I would have is thinking that there was something wrong w me for having all these false self thoughts. LOL but its true. Thanks for sharing Im going to watch the rest of the vids now.

Some of the things you explained about how you feel are incredibly similar to myself and my golf is definitely suffering from it. Fear of losing being the worst, almost residing yourself to losing before you start to take the pressure off. Will looking forward to your next video!

Thank you so much for this video. That is exactly my problem. If someone watching me swinging, the tension in my hole body grows so much... I suddenly feel myself so nervous... I would give almost anything to get rid of this... Please upload the part 2 soon! :-)

Anyone watching this, read the book " the mulligan ". This book perfectly coincides with this video. The book is only about 150 pages and can be bought on Amazon for around 5 bucks. Endorsed by jack Nicklaus. Buy it and read it. The best five dollars and 2 or 3 hours you'll ever spend to get better at golf and life.

Check out Jim Waldron and Fred Greene podcasts. Good supplement to the book and the mental side.

Or The Inner Game of Tennis and The Inner Game of Golf both by Tim Galwey. It's basically Zen applied to each sport. As is this video.

Is it me talking or you!!!!!!!!! You are hitting the nail on the head. When I play all alone I get birdies and pars very easily but when I play with others birdies are hard to come by.

The problem is that we confuse the GOAL of the game, which is scoring as low as possible (winning), with the PURPOSE of the game, which we decide for ourselves.
